Great Suggestions, now I have access to the creatures I need. Any creature centric artifacts like Lifecrafter's Bestiary, or super powerful enchantments like Worship or Rancor within the 3,4,5 cost range? Also, the deck is being made for a female so any stylistic elements that might make it feminine, short of Mox jewelry, would be nice. Thanks in advance.
Hi I'm looking for White and Green Creatures (and spells), but primarily creatures, that cost 3, 4, and 5 and have high power and toughness. A few I've come up with so far are VengevineLeatherback Baloth, Garruk Wildspeaker, and Emperor Crocodile. As the deck is white and green, it's a bit heavy on the green and I want white creatures for it. Many of the white angels and planeswalkers come in at 6 cost or higher and I'm not considering them, and I know there are strong "white weenie" creatures, but for now they're off the table too. Thanks in advance for your help.
Haven't completed the list yet, just considering the usefulness of Mox Opal... Just a minor improvement in speed with typically a turn 2 Mox Opal Obviously, the Moxes are better, but I think there's room for a playset(or at least a couple) of Mox Opal. Particularly when playing artifact lands. Will have the complete list up for critique soon.
Was thinking of cutting Sphere of Resistance for Mox Opal and playing more of an Aggro strategy with the Affinity mixed in. Likely, not as powerful as stopping your opponent with Sphere of Resistance but makes the deck a little faster for straight Aggro....T1 Mox Ruby and Artifact Land....T2 Artifact Land and Mox Opal...into a Lodestone Golem....
I'm more interested in making my MUD deck a strong Aggro deck first, then the disruption is secondary.
Was thinking of mixing Affinity and Shops with cards like Mycosynth Golem and Myr Enforcer and whatever else is typical of Affinity...along with Wurmcoil Engine and the artifact lands...It would basically be Shops with a minor in Affinity...I guess Mycosynth Golem might be a tad expensive to cast...besides Mud has a steep learning curve that I'm not ready for right now.
Who plays Mox Opal in their vintage (or casual) MUD deck, how many, and why? It seems like a relatively powerful mana source for powered vintage MUD and I'm considering 4 copies in my MUD deck. Of course you can play all 5 moxes already, if you got 'em. Then you might not want the Opals. Or maybe it's the moxes that really make Mox Opal shine. If Mishra's Workshop were restricted would that improve the play of this card? TBH, I don't think Mox Diamond or Chrome Mox have the same utility as Mox Opal. Just want to hear your thoughts on this seemingly powerful card.
Smart move making the set fun for drafting. At the same time, I like the strange cards that make strange decks like Goblin Charbelcher. Even though it won't have the same utility in a draft format, it will be fun pulling it and thinking, "I could make an obscure deck with this." That's part of the fun of drafting too.
I guess I was expecting to fill out a lot of my vintage decks, but they seem to be really trying to make Vintage playable with a small run of cards. I clap for the effort. I hope they release a few more spendy cards in the uncommon spots just to bring down the TCO for the game. I'll fill out some cards too.
All I'm saying is that if I'm holding 1 counterspell and Lodestone Golem is cast, it's a must counter...if you have 2 of them in your hand then I'm screwed...and after you cast your second Lodestone Golem it's going to be harder for me to counterspell, but I could Lightning Bolt it. Back and forth card play making fun games.
Lodestone Golem makes Workshop Decks fast, yet still allows for plays to get rid of it, as previous poster mentioned.
UPDATE: And the Dredge matchup is closer with Lodestone Golem beating down with high damage. Don't get me wrong...make vintage fun for more decks...restrict cards...just don't play favorites.
I just don't get it, they could make Vintage great again with creature decks, particularly where they are branching out into multicolor creatures with high stats... I mean if you're trying to get Stompy, Goldfish, and countless Creature Combo decks to be playable, then by all means restrict Lodestone Golem. Solitaire.
Workshop is the saving grace of Vintage. Why would you nerf a deck that actually casts creatures to the battlefield? Creature combat is what's lacking in Vintage. Workshop is already slower than other decks, it doesn't need to be nerfed. I understand that Lodestone Golem is an advantageous card, but so are 3 dozen other Vintage cards. Remember it costs 4 to cast...that's an expensive creature...even with Mishra's Workshop and Metalworker.
What are the biggest baddest multicolor cards you can think of, Lord of Tresserhorn comes to mind...kind of like the Elder Dragons...but there have been more in recent sets. Multicolor cards for that matter. Door to Nothingness comes to mind. Preferably creatures with like 3, 4, or 5 colors and great mana cost and power/toughness. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Found a couple Zurgo Helmsmasher, and I ran a search on Gatherer with all cards that contain all the mana symbols. There's a couple keepers there.
I think Ajani, Mentor of Heroes will be the commander for the deck.
As a side note what tutors are there in white and green that can get enchantments (not auras) like enlightened tutor?

Or cast Sphere of Resistance T1 and Lodestone Golem T2, then my counterspells are too expensive. But the next game I Daze your Sphere of Resistance and Counterspell your Lodestone Golem. Again back and forth play.

UPDATE: Cards like Disenchant, Naturalize, and Dack Fayden just lost a lot of their play.
UPDATE: Any of you guys play Mox Opal in your MUD decks? How many copies do you run?
Good point, but if I'm not mistaken your Merfolk Deck just became the sole survivor in Vintage. It's hardly worth countering a Sphere of Resistance.
