one card i would suggest that has played very good for me would be Kozilek's return. Chapin recently wrote about how he lost to fish and affinity at the GP thanks to having no ways to handle master of waves or etched champion.

as far as kalitas, i feel that any creature matchup without cheap removal for her crumbles once she resolves. solves a fair number of problematic aggro matchups

My issue with running 4-of Inquisition and Ancestral is that all of those are great turn 1 plays but become a lot worse in later turns. Having both Inquisition and Ancestral in your opener is kind of awkward. It also makes it so that you have a lot of dead topdecks.

this is definitly something that has to be mitigated to some extent. IOK is such a flexible card that i cant see cutting copies, but between AV and TiTi you end up with a lot of bad topdecks lategame. im probably going 3 AV and 2 TiTi for the invitational.

Kalitas is great but for 4 mana he just dies without getting you value right away. When he sticks around he performs very well but he just doesn't always stick. I suppose it won't hurt but if that's my plan to wait til turn 4 and they kill it, I'm most likely going to lose. He IS in my sideboard so it's all good but I think I will still consider keeping 2 anger and adding a surgical extraction or 2.

Also, if I have kalitas out and I play anger of the gods. Since anger changes death to exiling already, does that make it so kalitas can't do that effect and get a token? Or does it work out somehow

we would get to see how smart your opponent is (multiple replacement effects, they as the controller of the effected object gets to choose which one to apply.

personally i like radiant flames more anyway

i like where the TitI version lines up against thopter combo, both because of kologhans command, and because of flip to reset the thopters

Are you saying we should play Pia and Kiran Nalaar over Kalitas? I am still deciding between the two, the only issue I am having is that double black is really hard to achieve without messing with the manabase a little bit.

my personal opinion is that TiTi invalidates the need for non 2 drop creatures. im going to be testing 4 vryn, 4 TiTi, 3 snapcaster moving towards the invitational.

maybe i just build an play slightly differently, but ive never had a problem against zoo/affinity decks. you just have so much efficient removal, 2 for 1's, etc. burn is closer to an even matchup but id rather devote a few sideboard slots to it then skew the mainboard specifically to that matchup. opp plays kiki chord, ad nasuem, storm, infect, essentially any combo deck not named abzan CoCo and taking a turn to play kalitis is terrifying, and she doesnt close close.

in short, she is powerful in a few matchups, but so useless in others i fear the benefits dont outweigh the costs

its pretty funny how easy the boggles matchup becomes. ive gone from being sub 20% preboard to about 66% through a dozen test game. they can never recover from a flip.

you are playing a deck with 3-4 snapcaster mages and hopefully and equal number of vryns prodigy. and you have 3-4 kologhans commands in you deck, possibly a rise fall as well. you have 4 serum visions, maybe a few cryptics or remands..

you are not going to run out of instant and sorcery spells to cast in the first 8 turns of the game.

damn how fast are your guy's control decks when you are running out of inst/ sorc spells after turn 3? thats one hell of a turbo bolt list you got going on.

@gkouru last i checked kalitis can get pathed as well. and costs twice as much.

im confused as to how we're worrying about the nombo with titi and kalitas/pia... neither of those cards are near as good as titi. thats like saying "id like to play tarmogoyf in jund but its really a nombo with hooting mandrills so i wont"

that moment where somebody organizes his list by color so its impossible to get an actual sense of what hes running.

also thing in the ice has felt broken in the hands ive goldfished so far, im startin gout with a more generic list to hammer out as specific deficiencies / overkill are discovered

the other advantage is that you dont have the risks of sleeves with variable heights comparative to the outer sleeve. a problem i had with hareruya's

i own some as well, but have hesitated to use them yet. let me know whether or not that upper corner that's poorly protected sustains any damage.

master of waves could be an issue. i dont worry about cor firewalker because it just gets outclassed by angler. the point about spell snare is solid, although i think im well set up for counter wars. but the issue is more murky then i originally thought

im not a huge fan of staticcaster because A) it costs 3. B) it cant deal 2 damage to a single creature (guide, eidolon, fish lord, ScOoze, etc) and C) it cant go to the face to end games. i think staticaster is only better if more then 10% of the field is lingering souls. currently i expect most BG/x players to build jund.
