I don't think you can count it, but it saw some play, the u/b or Esper mill deck is an auto win against some decks but is about 99-1 against tron. In tron's favor of course.
I don't like it mainboard in Bant control but there are other control decks that it works in, and I still rarely like AEtherling in the sideboard, it is only there for control matchups.
I played a list similar to OP tonight.
Changes were: -2 plasm capture, -1 selesnya charm, +2 dissipate, +1 syncopate
I wish I could have tested with plasm capture. I feel like it might be not very good half the time. Although great if you can get it off on t4 or t5 with something else in hand. I don't know, is it wrong to want to increase Detention spheres and counters in the deck?
How good has selesnya charm been to you? It's something i've contemplating adding off and on.
I threw Selesnya Charm in on gameday just to test it out, and it was incredibly powerful against almost every deck I played against, it gets Thundermaw, Thragtusk, anything that has been gore-claned, and is even a combat trick at times. The token effect also sees use at some points. Also I love Kessig Wolf Running my opponents creatures to exile with them. Other than post Sideboard games, 2 Detention spheres is too many, idk why it just never seemed to help. Plasm capture is good at any time you can use it for a free creature or a Kessig/Revelation Pump and even a turn 4 Angel of Serenity, Plasm Capture is just an all around good card. With Bant it's a very counter-light deck and relies on other control aspects to win games, and only running 2 counters, Plasm Capture just fills the spot better than Dissipate/Syncopate.
Plasm Capture is really the only DGM that shines in this deck, 50% of the time it is a win-con. It pumps Kessig/Revelations and allows for a turn 4 Angel of Serenity. And to answer your last question yes its still good now, I play against Top tier Jund/Esper/Naya decks at my LGS and consistently take top 3 with this list.
The reason I think furor is better than spectral flight is because its a 1 drop, if you can play furor + another enchantment on the same turn that as well ends the game.
So I've had this deck Idea for a while. Instead of the traditional bant hexproof I'm going to try out this 4 color aura deck. The reason I'm posting this on here is for advice/criticism on the deck. Any suggestions on drops/adds would be helpful.
And as to why I prefer the Smiter, it's just that the meta at my local shop has alot of decks playing red and any 3 damage spell just renders it useless. The Smiter sticks around to both block and smash. Plus there are 3 top tier decks at my shop that use Liliana of the Veil and I get a free Smiter very often.
So all I've been hearing is that control is dead ESPECIALLY BANT.
Last weekend I beat out Esper, Jund Midrange, RG Aggro, Jund Aggro, and Dega Midrange going 8-0 on Dragon's Maze game day.
I'm not sure if it was just luck or what but here's my list tell me what you think.
At Dragons Maze gameday tonight I played a RG aggro in round 2 of the preliminaries and won 2-1 using Bant Wolf Run and then in the top 8 single eliminations I won the final match against the same player 2-0. Control decks are very consistent against aggro decks and once you drop a verdict after azorious charming for a few turns its basically over because they're out of juice. Then I would drop a thragtusk or 2 blink with resto until I got my kessig out and then just trampled over and over. Or in game one I got a turn 3 plasm capture because of farseek and countered a 3 drop and turn 4 I played an Angel of Serenity. If you want to beat out RG aggro control is a very viable option.
Placing:
1. Bant Wolf Run (Me)
2. RG Aggro - I beat in preliminaries and in the single elimnation
3. Jund Midrange - I beat in the preliminaries
4. Esper Tokens - I beat in single elimination
5. Jund Aggro - I beat in preliminaries
6. RB Zombie/Vampire Aggro - I beat in preliminaries
7. America Control - I beat in single eliminaton
8. Unknown Maybe Boros Aggro but I'm not sure - I never played agasints
