Would a U/W control deck using isochrons/elite archanist to copy certain spells be viable in legacy as a lock down deck.
namely:
elite archanist
isochron scepter
Silence-psuedo lock.
Time stop-"infinite turns".
mana short-stop them from playing stuff in your turn.
in a control type shell.
I havent come up with a deck list yet,but I won't bother if there is no hope for such an idea.
any of the experienced players think it would be worth looking into?
thanks
I completely forgot about dismember TBH,it definitely fits much better than Murder.I guess a fourth duress would be a good plan as well,Still waiting to get my hands on some raven's crimes....What about a single Underworld connections in place of one of the sign in bloods?
Updated list:
a budget monoblack beatdown deck I've been working on .It just uses some good cards ,with decent creature removal and a little bit of CA generation to eek a lead over the opponent.
vampire nighthawks are used to gain back some much needed life.
Equipping Lashwrithe to any of the:
typhiod rats
tormented souls
vampire nighthawks
creates quite a problem to deal with.
Pack rat mid game becomes quite a threat if not dealt with ,and ravenous rats just nibbles at the opponents hand .
trying to keep it super budget friendly, any suggestions are welcome.
I have a feeling that any modern staple rare will be mythic, any staple modern uncommon will be rare and any staple modern common will be uncommon. The rest will be limited draft crap. Wizards is in for quite a bit of backlash.
My thoughts exactly.Which is a problem.A big problem, because the boxes only contain 24 boosters(ie 24 rares, possibly not even a single mythic). This means that 90% of the box will be filled with crap that anyone can get hold of at a fraction of the cost of an MM booster box.My opinion is that It seems WOTC is trying to soak up as much money out of modern players before the prices hit a point where it turns into another "Legacy".
hmmm, fair points. There are only 8 equipment cards But I see your point.
My idea behind the masks of avacyn was to give the lich hex proof to stop bouncing.
What other creatures(prefereably black) could I replace the maralen's with?
Phyrexian Obliterators? and then swap out the darksteel ingots for lightning grieves?
Something like this mayhaps?
My first time posting(been lurking the forums for a while).
I love coming up with very cheap(if terrible) Jank combos.
Here is my latest Jank idea:
(bear with me I dont know how to make deck lists)
//Tutoring
4 increasing ambition
//protection
4 duress
4 nightmare void
//mana ramp
4 dark ritual
//combo
4 golgari brownscale
4 freed from the real
4 blood celebrant
4 bog witch
//finisher
1 Devils play
3 Elixir of immortality
//land
4 shimmering grotto
14 swamp
6 island
the deck should cost about $5-$10 to put together.
The combo works with bog witch, blood celebrant, freed from the real and golgari brownscale(or nightmare void) to create lots of mana and lifegain,if coupled with a flashbacked increasing ambition and elixir it could go for a very long time...it kills using a flashbacked lethal devils play ...
It'll probably never win anything in it's life ,but I'm a Johnny at heart. So if it wins just one game ever then 'll be happy
Just realized that the combo doesn't work(misread dredge :P) so to activate the combo a few more pieces are needed ....
a forest
an underworld connections on the forest
an arbor elf with a freed from the real on it.
all pieces required for combo:
2 freed from the real
1 bog witch
1 blood celebrant
1 arbor elf
1 forest
1 swamp
1 underworld connections
1 golgari brownscale in hand
1 other dredge card in hand
How it works:
tap bog witch and swamp, discard brownscale from hand, convert 2B to 2U ,use U to untap bog witch, repeat with other dredge card(now 3B 1U in mana pool),tap forest for underworld, instead of drawing cards mill 4 to bring brownscale/other dredge back to hand .tap arbor elf to untap forest, use 1U to untap arbor elf.(now 3B in mana pool)convert one to U(now 2B 1U) untap bog witch with 1U.(2B in mana pool) use 1B to activate bog witch again...rinse and repeat.mill yourself out getting mana in pool to cast lethal devils play.tutor elixirs for more library to mill.sacking 1 life for underworld,1 life for blood celebrant.gaining 2 from brownscale.so no net life gain.but 1 net mana gain per cycle.
ok,I've had another idea.because dredge triggers off individual card draw and brownscale can be sacked at instant speed to bog witch and dredge activated when a card draw event triggers .we can use cards like Mind spring and enter the infinite to trigger the brownscale dredge mechanic...thus we just need to use 4 cards to get things going :
1 bog witch
1 freed from the real
1 blood celebrant
1 enter the infinite
ramp into infinite by saccing life and cards in hand to bog witch and blood celebrant( including a brownscale ) then instead of drawing the deck, mill 2 bring back brownscale, then sac brownscale for bog witch, then mill 2 again ...etc.until we have enough mana to cast(or flashback) devils play for lethal.
This allows us to remove underworld, arbor and increasing ambition from our deck and put in either some enter the infinite/ mind springs and some protection like counter spells(daze/spell pierce/duress).the deck goes up in price a bit , but we still have a combo deck at less than $15.
Any help or advice on improvements is much appreciated.
The mana base can then be just swamps(using celebrant as color fix) or add some islands for a little bit of consistancy.

elite archanist

I can make out what the highlighted card is:
cost - 3W
name - indestructibility
type- ecnhantment-aura
text:
"enchant permanent
enchanted permanent is/has indestructible"
at least thats as much as I can make out using the size of relative words and the card formatting.
3x Darksteel Axe
3x Lightning grieves
4x Darksteel Relic
3x Mask of Avacyn
4x Dark Ritual
4x Phyrexian Obliterator
4x Phylactery Lich
4x Darksteel Citadel
20x Swamp
4x Dimir Machinations
4x Darksteel Axe
4x Darksteel Ingot
4x Darksteel Relic
4x Mask of Avacyn
4x Dark Ritual
4x Maralen of the Mornsong
4x Phylactery Lich
20x Swamp
4x Dimir Machinations
Explanation of cards:
artifacts:
obvious
Maralen of the mornsong:
helps find missing pieces while dealing damage to the opponent(tutoring is a bad side effect ,but right now I dont care :P)
Dimir Machinations:
deck manipulation/tutoring for lich
Phylactery lich:
a turn 2/3 5/5 indestructible creature is no joke
Dark/Cabal ritual:
some much needed mana ramp.
This deck is not designed to be competitive .
Any pointers are much appreciated.thanks
