This is what i've been trying, i'm working on the sb now, i have playtested against dark naya so far, the deck seems very strong against midrange, curious what people's opinions are of running walkers over restos.
Madcap skills could also fill that spot, getting two for oned after swing for 5 on turn two doesn't seem like a bad deal, plus it makes your opponent waste removal that they could save for your bigger threats
Thanks for the input! Yeah, I suppose that is why I didn't put immortal servitude in before when it was suggested. Although this is an issue so something needs to be SB at least...still not sold on (although you do make a compelling argument here) unburial rites, but I won't settle for immortal servitude quite yet
Why cut the oblivion rings? I consistently use them in games. What "bodies" would you cut? What do you mean by get max benefit out of Sorin -just his emblem +1/0-ing my tokens?
Yeah, up the token count, run more instant removal, o ring would still be a definite sb in less creature heavy match ups, what to cut would be up to you, with that strategy i'd probably hollow out your 2 drops, use removal to work on low drops, by turn four you'll have either a nighthawk, sorin or souls on the board to deal with/ mitigate midrange. It takes the deck in a different direction if you like the way the deck is i would definitely use rites, even a reusable nighthawk is pretty sweet, best case you could ditch serenity and rites with lili and have a turn four angel on the board.
I don't think immortal servitude would work well at all, you don't have a high number of drops at the same cmc, no way to flood your yard or mass sac, rites is nice because you get two uses, for anything but two cmc rites is a better bargain mana wise.
The direction i would probably go with this deck would be to lose some of the bodies, cut the o rings, bump up lingering, add midnight haunting, add runechanter's pike get max benefit off sorin, pike goes great with nighthawk, btw i would absolutely run vault of the archangel, spirit tokens with deathtouch lifelink are the best blockers you could ask for.
3 lili is alot for a deck that isn't likely top decking early, or running gy shenanigans, have you considered running rites? Also gloom surgeon eats aggro if you are concerned on that front.
Not sure if i want this card to turn out marginally useful, or broken. I imagine it'll probably be one or the other, whatever it is i hope it is at least reasonable cmc.
I vote blue, i would love a soft lock.
Thundermaw is a big boy for a deck with 22 land and no ramp, maybe as a sb, but even then a control deck has sided in blind obedience with all the haste, so would it be good? Hard to say, but if you have some laying around, a one or two of sb really couldn't be bad, i advise caution boarding him in though. I do agree hellrider is a 4 of, i understand two hellrider in the hand being stuck at three land, but you always want to draw at least one and with no filtering or draw 4 of is the best way to get that consistency.
reckoner is a no brainer, if you don't have access for budget reasons i'd add hellion, probably not both though. burning tree has a lot of positive interactions as well also works well with hellion and of course burning tree into mauler is amazing. i have very mixed feelings on vexing, if a one mana sorcery deal 4 to target player is worth it then sure, waif is bad, legion loyalist is another mixed feelings he does work nicely as a finisher against a clogged board, i'd probably say he's meta dependent.
I like the immortal sertvitude idea, it could be pretty nasty, you would definitely have to mainboard o ring for sb pithing needles, and sideboard withbane orbs for the slaughtergames, it's kinda niche, but a turn three griselbrand is probably gg.
