d0su! I almost lost you and this thread. Didn't knew Salvation were saved, so I moved to Nexus instead. And actually made my own thread for the deck.
About Torbran, he's stinky good! I won't be playing him in Squee though, but i have a Varchild deck that can go wide, and it's in such a deck I think Torbran will shine. What I'm really excited for in Squee is Thrill of Possibility. Not sure if I should cut Wild Guess for it, or if I want all the looting...
Hi guys. Just wanting to say that I really appriciate all the recent decussion in this thread. I love this archtype, but I rarely play pauper so my experience with the deck is very limited, and thats why I love that you share yours! Thanks a lot.
To answer some of your overall questions, the deck tries to establish a massive board of lands, while fogging and keeping control. The endgame tends to be good ol' Ifh-Bíff Efreet paired with Darksteel Plate. And maybe Glacial Chasm.
And it's very rare that don't get to draw cards. The main thing to tutor for early game is Tireless Tracker, and that guys pulls so much work it's unbelieveable. But yeah, so does Nissa, Vastwood Seer. Most people will kill a planeswalker when they see one, but they'll soon learn otherwise with Nissa. When she enters from the cz, she's nets you a land and one card after she flips.
Cyclone is an odd one. Sometimes when I cast it, it doesn't do much and people don't care. But other times it can be a most-kill for certain decks, mostly ones that goes wide. It can keep such decks in check until they find removal, and it puts a clock on the game, something I like when hitting every player with the Hurriances.
Tornado on the other hand is godlike. I don't think I'll ever find a replacement for it. Being able to destroy everything is so good in a control deck that don't have that many other options. And it only gets better when you pair it up with stuff like Seedborn Muse, Awakening and Power Conduit.
Same goes for Song of the Drayds. It can really shut some decks down that rely on their commander. It's harder to sac a land then it is to sac a creature. And enchantments can be hard to deal with for some decks. Same reason I'm playing Titania's Song, though I do strongly consider Collector Ouphe.
I get what you are saying about Summer Bloom, but I really like the burst it offers. 3 lands is a lot compared to 1, and when you can chain it with recursion it gets even nuttier.
Genesis used to be in the deck, but with all the recursion he felt too redundent, and I rarely wanted to pay his upkeep cost.
If I should go deeper in the lands theme, what lands would you suggest? I'm having a hard time going much lower then 18 basics when Vernal Bloom is a thing, but it could be cutted I guess.
Golos, Tireless Pilgrim is good. I'm kind of burnt out on 5C legendaries that are clearly aimed at EDH right now. This is number 6 in about the last year, including 3 in the last set alone.
Yeah, the WUBRG activation costs is getting tiresome.
So, I've heard some good things about Shenanigans, beside the name. But I guess it could be decent here aswell, with the looting going on. We can ditch it early and pick it up again every time we need it. And filling the grave at the same time. Problem is, what to cut? Shattering Spree is such a neat card, but I think I'll try swaping the two for a while.
I'm running both Undying Evil and Supernatural Stamina in my deck (along with both boots and Darksteel Plate), and recently added Kaya's Ghostform, but havn't tried the deck since adding it... But I think 6 protection spells overall is a pretty decent number, since I can also tutor for them.
Not about how I would do in a pauper version, so I'm pretty curious to hear your experiences wiht it!
I might be wrong about Ruin Rat, so again, let me hear how it preforms.
Also, another suggestion for cuts would be Basal Thrull. Since it doesn't have haste, it looses the flexibility that Blood Pet has.
Yeah, I felt the same when I first saw Dead of Winter, but it will never get better then Toxic Deluge. I'm passing on that one, but Snow-lands do have its merits for other cards, like the one mentioned, so I can understand the change. I useually only use snows with Extraplanar Lens, but more and more seems to be putting in snows, so it might not matter all that much anymore
Yeah, cutting is always hard But if I should suggest something, I think Deathgreeter is kinda mediocre. You already seem to have plenty of lifegain, that does a better job then the greeter. The lifegain don't do much on it's own, won't help your tempo to beat combo-decks (of which PDH have plenty of). Ruin Rat might not do much either, when you already have Bojuka Bog and Nihil Spellbomb.
The reason I like the one-shot protection is, having played with a regular Shirei deck for some time, it's really all about Shirei. If he leaves play, my deck just doesn't function, so it's powermount to have him on the board. The surpriseeffect these instants gives, can mean a lot in my experience.
Fair enough, it could just be me being haughty. It's not known to happen often, but happen it does. Apologies for derailing.
I guess I just see a lot of the sexualisation of MtG characters. Most of my play is online via untap.in, and there's a huuuuuuge number of players that run custom waifu art on their builds - like on every card in the deck, even basic lands have women with bounteous chests on them. It's honestly pretty gross and makes me wonder whether the person at the other end of the computer needs to wash their hands.

Anyone happens to play on cockatrice?

I've been brewing on an American Storm deck for some time, just needed the commander. Well, here he is.

Come over at Cockatrice instead
