This article is for those dedicated husbands and fathers who love playing Magic.
Way to exclude any females who might have been interested in what you had to say. I'm sure some points could have pertained to them - but by all means - keep the stereotypes up.
Thanks for the advice. I've made a dozen changes to the deck thus far, and it's hard to say how much better the deck is. There are still a few more cards I'm angling to get:
Sun Titan was a great recommendation - he'll be on my next purchase!
Skyshroud Claim - Even though I added Seek the Horizon, I think some more ramping will be needed with my mana curve.
Cultivate - More ramp
Yavimaya Elder - Rampity ramp-ramp
Sakura-Tribe Elder - Rampity ramp-ramp
Solemn Simulacrum - Seems to be a Commander staple...
I may try to pick up Weatherseed Treefolk and Loxodon Smiter to keep some creatures 'in the game' after the inevitable sweeps as well.
I kept the Serra Avatar in there for the time being, and added the Horned Helm and Akroma's Memorial in there to see (along with Rancor) if I can get some trample action going on to make these big swingers more effective.
Thanks for the advice so far! I'm pretty sure I'll get to try this out on Monday - once I get a few games under my belt, I should be able to figure out what direction this deck needs to go.
Further comments/advice welcome!
He is solid, and I really like what he brings to creature decks thematically, too.
With patience Standard sets can be had for less. I paid between $15-25 each for M12, Innistrad, Dark Ascension, Avacyn Restored, and Return to Ravnica (including shipping).
Before I got married, I had aspired to take weekend trips and put the back seats of my Focus down and lie flat with my legs in the trunk. I never did get to see if that would have worked or not, but it may have been as close as you could get to flat in a compact car.
The one thing that would keep me from living in a vehicle are my all-too-frequent needs for a toilet at odd hours in the night. I very much dislike the kind of 'public' bathrooms available at 4AM...
Garruk's in there and Sakura is on my to-buy list!
Gavony Township is coming in my next order, so I can make that swap.
I think I generally want to stay unnoticed in the 'quiet before the storm' until I can bring out some big hitting angels - hopefully I can drop Avacyn or get Asceticism or (if I add) Privileged Position out there to keep the troops from being swept too easily. There's a token swarming potential in there as well if the angels aren't cooperating.
I know there are going to be problems with it, so if I could get some advice and if you would be kind enough to point out some newbie traps I may have fallen into, I'd appreciate it.
As for the cards, I do own all of these, and my collection mostly consists of some Revised & 4th with a pretty big gap (with small smatterings) until the Innistrad block, where I have started collecting again with earnest. A few cards that I have that aren't in here but would totally fit are Regrowth, Desert Twister, Thragtusk, and Privileged Position.
As I played it and look at it more, it has a lot of token generation, and I'm not sure whether to run with it, or concentrate on the original "Angel/Human" theme. Either seems fun to me, so please let me know what you think!

Additions and Removals (Round 2, 4/11/13):
(Hi, Dr. Nick!)
So I've been back into Magic for almost a year after leaving somewhere around Visions back in the late 90s. I really love the Innistrad block, and am also enjoying the RtR block as well. I don't get to play much, but I love the collecting and deck-building aspects of MTG as well, so it scratches a lot of my gaming itches.
I'm definitely more of a casual player, and these boards seem very relaxed, so I hope they'll be a good fit for me! I've been playing with EDH decks at the moment, as more expensive playsets still elude me.
So I'd like to post some of my EDH decks I've made so far for some help, and see there's an appropriate sub-forum (EDH Multiplayer). As I've browsed the threads within, I see that the active threads discuss decks that are much more developed than anything I have. Is posting stuff that is (probably) inferior to these decks okay? If I have more than one deck, should I put them in the same thread, or separate threads?
Thanks!
