Hey boyz,
i wonder why Xenagos, the Reveler is not played in Modern. Instead Domri Rade is played there.
i really can not understand it. in my experience Domri is neat, but just far not good enough. Really dissapointed from playtests.
But im really impressed with Xenagos so far. i run him in a RG Aggro/Midrange Deck along with Chandra, Pyromaster & am really impressed with both. Yes, most of the times you want his 0 & keep Xangos @ 3 Loyality. But his +1 is brutal with Manasinks such as Kessig Wolf Run etc. Only thing i dont like is you will probably never get to his Final
So are there Decks that want him ?
Everytime I hope to get banned the 1-card-armies: Scapeshift & Splintertwin. I actually see no reason to ban DRS. Seems a fair card to me & not like the mentioned ones. Oh banning of Cranial Platling would also be GREAT news one day.
That planeswalker is amazing against burn as it takes 2 burn spells to kill it..
If they printed that it would be stupidly overpowered in standard and lili level in modern...
i dont get what you all mean with how good Lili is in Modern . . . i battle her a lot & she isnt good. Not terrible, but not even good.
Cant all have Elite-Walkers like Elspeth 1.
Did you notice that Cat-Tokens on Theros are apparently 1/1 vigilant ? So if Ajani will make Cat-Tokens, they probably gonna be those 1/1 vigilant Cats. & if he becomes GW, its very plausible that he will put +1/+1 Counters on your Creatures.
So how about this:
Ajani, the Prideleader 1GW
3 Loyality
+1 Put a 1/1 White Cat Creature Token with Vigilance onto the battlefield.
+1 Put a +1/+1 Counter on up to one target creature you control. That creature either gains Flying or Trample until end of turn.
-7 Put an 8/8 green Elemental Creature Token on to the battlefield, draw 5 cards & gain 7 life.
Mogis - You need to have an Aggro-Deck to run him in. These 2 damage can be a serious clock, if you already dealt enough damage when he enters. Also wasnt a big problem to turn him on. Really you NEED to get ahead to make him a threat. Punisher-effects are amazing if opponent already is under pressure.
Ephara - i played her in some kind of White Weenie-Deck with Brimaz as well. & Yes, she draws A LOTA cards. i once even accomplished drawin almost 20 cards from what she gets very easy to turn on. She sometimes also enters emidiately as a Creature. Her Card-Draw is just slow. but new hand is new hand !
Xenagod - i feel like the same effect would be reasonable for 1 Mana less like the better ones. The only creature which really impressed me, was Kalonyan Hydra in connection with him. The other unfortunately always get chump-blocked. The earlier you get him out, the better. & G has no problems accomplishing that.
Karametra is actualy my color-identity, but i wont playtest her, since lands can not win !
If i want cards, then i definately go with Ephara ! The biggest dissapointment in this set for me & by far the worst god. I wouldnt even play her, if she didnt require any Devotion.
Phenax plays Mill & for me theres nothing more boring that that. No interest.
So from that playtest id say: Go with Mogis & Ephara. Xenagod is it also worth.
So we have 10 Gods released so far & now im REALLY interested what everyone thinks about them. Who is the best right now ? The worst so far ?

i go ahead & say that i find that the BNG-Gods have superior static abilities compared to the Major-ones. I expected the Minor-ones to be weaker, since they didnt give them activated abilities (still dont understand why), but for me its not the case. Continueous, powerful static abilities like Mogis´ or Epharas´ could change some things. Thassa, God of the Sea & Purphoros, God of the Forge are still probably the best ones for me, but Mogis & Ephara will get their chance to prove themselves to be more than worthy in appropriate Decks.
The worst God so far & by far is unfortunately that one with my Color-Identity.

I actually despise Dimir, but they deserve a powerful card now.
Since 2 Gods cost 5 & the other 2 Gods cost 4, Phenax is klikely to be at 3 Mana.
& we know that Phenax likes to torture & has flying creatures next to him.
So I guess this:

Legendary Enchantment, Crauture - God (M)
Indestructable
As long as your Devotion to blue & black is less than 7, Phenax isnt a creature.

Green & white creatures you control have Forestwalk & Plainswalk
Whenever you cast a green creature-spell, draw a card.
Whenever you cast a white creature-spell, gain life equal to its toughness.

The Landwalk would give immediate impact, in the way to let your Attackers get through.
The card-draw & lifegain would give you something every GW Deck wants for the Mid-game.
& her Toughness would make her Dismember-proof.
I knew that we were not goin to get Modern-playable Gods, but the above card would have been my dearest dream for my Modern Selesnya-Deck
