Very hard not to look at this as a cash grab move.
Exectuive 1: "Folks, standard is failing and our profits are down. We can't just keep churning masters set to make people buy premium products, they're starting to notice our scheme".
Executive 2: "Standard has been bad for years, but you know what people like? Commander"
Executive 3: "Why don't we make Commander with only standard legal cards, so people are forced to buy into our new product even though it is bad?"

It was said that Heroes of Dominaria will have an "Euro-feel" in terms of gameplay.
I hope it will be a big, complex
Standalone boardgame that, unlike AotP, asserts & establishes itself.
Followed by plenty expansions & a big player-base.
I hope so badly that this time wizards + wizkids manage to create "the real Magic boardgame", since i believe Magic-cards on a complex board opens up many more possibilieties on Magics full potential. AotP was an attempt. Now learn from it & craft the best you can do with that experience.

I already loved Arena of the Planeswalkers. In fact i liked it a damn lot more than the cardgame. But i was really missin the mana-incorpororation into the game.
Point-system didnt feel Magic at all.
Heroes of Dominaria will have the mana-system. Its described as Players will have to explore the localties to draw Mana from. I guess that is in order to afford your spells in hand.
I hope that these Mana-environments hide dangerous Creatures from Mtg surprising wanderers who step into their territory. Mana is key, but not free !
What i would love to further take from the cardgame is the combat.
I want as lil randomess in combat as possible (didnt like AotP combat-dice)
In effect creatures should deal combat-damage equal to their power-values to each other & then take corresponding wound-markers (unless dead). Maybe even a clause that wounded creatures recover 1 wound each round ?
My gawd does this seems powerful !
Unblockable with Power 2 isnt something to brag about, but the other abilities sure are !
Im amazed by this card, however Merfolk still needs more. But cant be a better start than this d:)

But from next week on you can expect constant spoilers.
Theyre havin that project, where you can participate in solvin certain tasks to unlock cards.
