I don't buy that.

Aether isn't intrinsically blue; it's unrefined magic. It's every color; or more probably, no color.

Blue gets more of it because it's better at understanding how magic works than other colors.

I do think it's pretty interesting that Bolas has had a chin thingy like a Pharaoh's headdress since his Alara redesign.



I wonder how far out they planned the 'Bolas Egypt world' thing.

Sarkhan got punched in the face with time magic, and that was enough to turn him blue. Maybe Ob Nixilis sneezes on her.

I just don't think that based on evidence presented thus far, Kiora is embracing her blackness to save the world.

Perhaps IF zen gets saved, Kiora can encounter some other storyline that pushes her in this direction.

Hell, we dont even know if creative decided this was canon or not. Wouldn't be the first time. They were heading Nissa in this direction originally and pulled a 180.

Kicker was entirely too broad first time they used it.

It was all but necessary to restrict/retire to so they can continue to make mechanics without them being dismissed as being lesser/derivative of Kicker.

Not at all.

The titans are all incredibly swingy cards.

If the Eldrazi deck has gotten to the point where the Titans are being successfully hard cast, the game is already over.

Games where your opponent scoops because there's obviously nothing they can do to win are boring and unfun.

Again, what were people expecting from a panel that came out before Origins had even been released.


We got a cast of characters.
We got a bunch of plotlines being crossed.
We got a bunch of new art.
And they straight up told us that there's hints in the art.

Avacyn being robotic makes her way more interesting to me, because it makes her distinct.

There's a billion examples of angels being kind motherly caretakers. The instant Avacyn becomes one of those, she's boring and forgetable.

I was searching for Game Day information, and noticed that Wizards has updated their page for the [M14]. The URL is at the following:

[M14] Game Day will take place between August 10–11, 2013.

It appears that there is an extended art Hive Stirrings for everyone that participates, and the players that make it to Top 8 will receive an extended art of Goblin Diplomats. I have searched the forum and partial spoilers thread, and as of this posting, Goblin Diplomats has not been mentioned. Here are the stats:
