... until everyone would start playing the strongest non-UG -deck: Norin!

    We can fix that:

Having played a couple of games without anyone playing blue last night, I strongly disagree (troll or no troll)
Tooth and derp nail after tooth and derp nail, yuck.

As much as I like green, it looks the like the new banlist should be this:

Yeah, things would be much more balanced that way

I sense a disturbance in the format.

See, in my opinion, what really needs to be banned is this:

The format would be so much better without it trollface

IMO you need more pro-active threats, and keep in mind your Oozes will be competing against each other. I'd at least consider going with Nemesis of Mortals & Nighthowler instead. Rakdos's Return is too good to leave out, and you'll need something to fight more than just creatures. For the SB I'd highly recommend Slaughter Games for your biggest problem cards like Sphinx's Rev, Gray Merchant, Thassa etc.

Just my 2 cents, GL with your deck!

I just recently cut the whips for Rakdos's Return and its doing well, might go up to a third. Will also consider slaughter games in the board. As for your creature suggestions, I'm not so sure on those. It still needs some tweaking, but its getting there.

I've tested this deck out a bit on cockatrice, and I'm really liking what it does against most of the usual threats in standard right now. The only thing I have trouble with is U/W or U/W/x control decks, but I think a strong sideboard to fight this could help.

Basically, the deck packs nearly every removal spell in the format to handle all of the creature decks running around right now. The goal is to destroy all of their threats and then move in with a Scavenging Ooze to eat up all the things you blew up, Desecration Demon, or an ultimate Vraska the Unseen.

I'm still tweaking the deck, and I know that Whip of Erebos isn't doing enough at this point, so I need suggestions for what to replace it with. I also need suggestions for a good sideboard to fight control, since it's an incredibly weak matchup for this deck.

Let me know what you think or if you have suggestions

QUESTION OF THE NIGHT: What is your secret (real-life, non-MtG-related) talent?

I play the drums in my school pep band, but that's about it. I'm not very talented anywhere else, other than some people say I'm a smart person.

Made lots of nice changes today after a trip to the local card shop.

+Demonic Tutor, Survival of the Fittest (gold bordered), Squee, Goblin Nabob, Erebos, God of the Dead

-Slaughter Pact, Fauna Shaman, Gilded Lotus, Mimic Vat

It was really difficult to decide what to cut from this deck, so I mostly went off of things that had been under performing lately BUT could be used in my other EDH, Roon of the Hidden Realm. I added Erebos to the deck mainly because one of my friends plays Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, so the can't gain life clause pretty much shuts down most of his shenanigans, while also providing me a source of extra card draw and an indestructible creature from time to time.

What do you think about the changes? Did I screw up somewhere? Let me know what you think

    Question:

Why did it take so long for someone to close this thread?

This makes me want to go to a new shop, act like I'm brand new to the game, and then tell them I'm running white. We sit down to play a game, and all I play is lands. Imagine the look on their face when they ask to see my deck and find 60 sleeved Plains XD

Well I could do an intro.

My favorite magic color is black, followed by red, and blue tied. I lack any skill with non-beats white. My first legendary was Baron Sengir( I spent a whole year hunting one down when I started playing again). I started playing while very young then stopped and picked up again when innistrad came out. I fell in love with the EDH format and my current build is a heavily modified Mind Seize. The most interesting card I have ever held in my hand was a Black Lotus(when i was young). And my most funny moment while playing was turn 1 Baron Sengir only to have it Unsummoned. I am a huge fan of any deck that can kill everyone(including yourself) in one turn of glorious carnage. Does this count as a good introduction.

Seems decent, you're in the clan!

For now, your clan name will be Norin the Wary. Once you've shown that you are an active member within the clan, you will be promoted to a legendary member, at which time you will receive a new legendary creature of your choice as your new clan name.

Hope you enjoy being a part of our clan!

I don't think it would be a terrible idea to require a minimum post count. Something like 25-50 would be reasonable. That said, it's not like we're being flooded by new members, either. I'm neutral on it. What say the Elder Dragon Council?

I was thinking something similar to that, but I wanted to know what everyone else thought. I don't want to discourage newer people from joining, but at the same time I don't want to have to clean out the new members list of 10 people who never posted after their first. If we set some regulations now, we can avoid issues in the future.

My opinion about the restrictions for join is: if you're willing but you have a low post count, just be active in the clan thread and show that you really want to be in. If you say something more than "May I join", present yourself, show your interests to us there's no problem for me, even if this is your first post in this forum.

This is what I was thinking of personally. Anyone can potentially join, but if you have a low post count you're more likely to be inactive. I'm wanting to set something up to filter out the people who would only pop in once to see if they can join, then leave.

    May i join.

As long as you're willing to be active here in the clan, you're free to join. We always like to see new faces here. Since you only have 1 post on MTGS though, we can't really be certain that you're going to stick around. Post in here a couple more times and I'll put you down as a new member.

This draws attention to another point: Should we have the clan open to EVERYONE, or should we put a few small restrictions on joining? I'm not thinking anything serious, just a small post count check maybe? What do you guys think?

Just got kicked from a game on cockatrice because I had about 20 sylvan primordialtriggers left to resolve. Prophet of Kruphix, Deadeye Navigator, and Sylvan Primordial + 20-ish lands= you get kicked XD not to mention I had a leyline of anticipation just in case I needed to flash something in.

So I guess Roon of the Hidden Realm Bant flicker is kinda fun

I put a skullclamp in my Prossh deck, and after 15 games, still have not seen it. What the hell? Gaping I have to repeatedly check to make sure it is still in the deck. Does this happen to anyone else? Same with like 6 other cards in my deck, notables include Tooth and Nail, and Green's Sun Zenith. It's so bizzare.

This happens sometimes to me. Certain cards always end up at the bottom, or in the middle. My theory is that certain sleeves just move towards the top or bottom of the deck, the cards have a mind of their own Grin You can always try switching sleeves with another card you see too often, this might actually help you see it more often. I don't draw my Greater Good nearly as often as I should Slant

  • posted a message on Do you enjoy opening packs?
I enjoy opening packs from time to time, even though buying singles is generally better. Being a budget player, my trade binder can get pretty thin at times. Buying a few packs can usually spice up your trades with some new fodder, and there's always a chance of getting something really expensive. Even if you don't pull something expensive, you might pull something interesting that someone else will trade something useful for.

I cracked 4 packs of Theros awhile ago (my binder was pretty light on material and I wanted some stuff to fill it) and pulled a foil Purphoros, God of the Forge. The other rares weren't worth much, but they still either found uses or got traded off, and some of the staple uncommons really helped too.

The key thing I think with opening packs is that unlike normal gambling where you either keep your money or you don't, when you crack packs you always get something out of it. You may not have pulled that expensive planeswalker, but you did still get cards that might have use somewhere else.

This is exactly how I feel about Green.

If I could redesign the MtG color pie, I'd get rid of Green. No, I wouldn't give its abilities to other colors. I would eliminate it entirely. I hate Green.

I really don't have problems with any of the colors in magic. I'll play just about anything and everything equally, although I do kinda have a secret hatred for counterspells so blue doesn't get as much respect compared to other colors. Slant Also, red as a standalone color doesn't really excite me either. My favorite colors are definitely Green and Black for the fatties, destruction, and recursion along with versatility and card draw.

If I had to pick a favorite, I would choose black. The whole idea behind the color appeals to me, destroy and conquer all through any means necessary. I'm not afraid to get dirty to win.
