A bad player could mess up Griselbrand, trust me, I've seen it.

I saw a player cast Animate Dead on Griselbrand on turn 2, and drew 28 cards at the end of my turn (I was last in play order). He couldn't kill the table, so I made him Edict it by casting Diabolic Edict.

Ha! I imagine the look on their face was priceless.

This is true, but a bad player can make any card bad - this is why I try to only play with good players. If you Grizzle turn 2 you had better be comboing out.

You don't want to unban Sundering/Primeval Titan or Yawgmoth's Bargain. You know fast I could win off Bargain off a Show and Tell or hard casting it on turn 3 the earliest?
It would make U/B Combo too strong.
Those Titans would make Damia or U/B deck too strong.

Imagine having Sundering Titan in play on turn 3 on your opponent side via Entomb + Reanimate or hard casting by Azusa or mana stones in U-control.

It would make games harder and more fun for the competitive metas which is the majority. The majority of the EDH players aren't interactive and not creative.
I know my decks all look the same, but at least I can make new decks with different colours (Kinda).

Once the majority of the Commander's community player skill improves, I would agree with you on unbanning those powerhouses.

I think his point was that while those cards are broken, Griselbrand is BROKEN. Personally I have never seen him resolved without the game ending that turn or the following.

Looking forward to Primeval Bounty in Zegana (I consider this to be my "Commander" deck) and Dark Prophecy in Shirei, but that's about it.

I play standard when RDW is viable, but other than that it's mostly Jaya.

    Anyone else do this?

I do things similar to this. I like to have full cycles when possible, and it bothers me if I don't have an equal distribution of colors amongst my decks. (This may not be the best argument in your support though, I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 12.)

YuGiOh and Magic are NOTHING alike. In Magic, "staples" tend to run around 10-20 dollars, such as lands, high-end creatures etc. Of course there are oddities such as Voice, Liliana, etc.

In YuGiOh, there are "staples" which you either have and can actually win at the low low cost of 100+ dollars for (See Number 11 Big Eye and DracoSackk and High Priestess of Prophecy) or you don't have and just lose. In addition to that, because YuGiOh is made up of solid archetypes (unlike Magic, where Boros and Orzhov can have a love-child), you have to shell out an additional 200+ dollars to buy the staples of the said archetype. For instance, you don't see in the current meta, anybody mixing Elemental Dragon Lords with Prophecies, with the staples in the former deck costing 10+ each while Prophecies range from 10-100 dollars.

As a YuGiOh player, I was amazed when I saw that useable cards in Magic can cost a good 45 cents because even then, YuGiOh-****ty cards cost at least 2 dollars. Feel spoiled, Magic players. XD

Comparing Yugioh to Standard doesn't seem accurate, as one is an eternal format and the other rotates. It makes more sense to compare it to Vintage/Legacy. At that point the price of decks is about equal, yes?

I think Dragonhunted is asking "When you play non-EDH formats do you still build as if you were playing EDH?"

I almost exclusively play EDH, so on the rare occasion that I need a 60 card deck it tends to end up singleton. It's usually not even intentional, it's just naturally how I build decks now.

Wanted to bump this, it's a great idea. Also wanted to say that if there comes a time that you don't think you're going to get some of the cards that have been reserved, let me know. My girlfriend was interested in altering some more cards, but I only have 1 of the cards that haven't been called.

Hi Weebo. Long time follower of this thread, first time poster.

Also, just a thought, the salvation package worked really well for me. You can discard the artifacts to Jaya before getting them back as a source of CA. I also have aminor sacrifice artifact subtheme that uses them.

I wanted to hop in here and echo this sentiment. I DO run a few more targets for Salvaging Station than you do Weebo, so I might be a bit biased, but... I have had great success with Tormod's Crypt, Scrabbling Claws (thanks to the heavy reanimator presence in our group), and Pyrite Spellbomb (drawing cards or screwing up the token player's day). Any time that I've gotten Station out and a single target for it it's been super value town.

It also led to a fun game of "nuke the board, ramp 10" thanks to an active Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Wayfarer's Bauble, but I doubt magical Christmas land is the sort of argument you're interested in. Grin

EDIT: Geez, I don't know how I missed that you have Tormod's Crypt in there. Don't worry, I'll figure this "reading" thing out eventually.

I didn't realize the colored sharpies would work so well at covering up the old art. I'm going to have to get me a set.

he said silver and black typically have no problems. aside from that you really just need to plan things out as colors will tend to run into each other.

Yeah, our scanner made the images a bit lighter. The actual cards aren't quite as colorful but still look great. She tried using an eraser for a few of them (my brother-in-law recommended this as well) but for less extensive alters it isn't really worth it. (Not to mention that she's a much better artist than she is willing to admit. It's off topic but I'm willing to use any format to sing her praise.)

    Bahahahahhaa

Looks like my nyan cat alter has been bested in fabulous fashion. The Soul's Majesty is LEGIT.

After she finished we looked through some of the alters other people had done. She was pretty excited to see another nyan cat!

What did your ladyfriend use to make them?

Big ol' bag of assorted sharpies I bought for her a few years ago. She'd never done this before but got pretty into it after practicing on some forests. Smile

I am dying over that Timbermaw Larva (, Esquire) hahahahahaha

They look amazing, let her know I say thanks a bunch Grin

Thanks! I'll let her know. It's been a few years since she posted anything online, so she'll be glad to know they were well received.

My girlfriend has all of the artistic talent between the two of us, so she did the alters. She was nice enough to give me an executive producer credit though. My scanner and I aren't on the best of terms, so they might look a bit...off.

Hey SI, I can send a Howl of the Night Pack, Timbermaw Larva, Soul's Majesty, Cultivate, and a Forest if you tell me where they need to go. (or fewer, I wasn't sure if you wanted to set a cap on the number of contributions per person.)
