Agree with the previous poster about the Eldrazi deck having an edge in the matchup. Eldrazi has chump blockers, evasion creatures, removal and ramp to bring out the big guys. I would've thought Zendikar would counter this by being quick aggro but its more midrange with few ways to answer all of Eldrazis' threats.
If you have the funds allocated for Magic as a hobby, I don't see how this is a problem at all.

Actually, the first year they did this (SDCC 2013), it was limit 2 per person, so it was still pretty reasonable. Some smarter folks got the bright idea to ask their neighbors in line if they can purchase the sets off of them so many walked away with 4,6,8 sets etc, which may seem to look like the limit was higher but it actually wasn't.
I would decide on a deck rather than looking at individual cards first.
If you want to go UW, look at UW Miracles. If you want to stick with UB, look at BUG control. But honestly, I wouldn't even look at colors at the moment. Like someone before me mentioned, check out the SCG Open Legacy streams every weekend and check out what decks you think would be fun to play. Once you decide on a deck, then start looking at cards. Prices for legacy cards don't fluctuate anywhere as quick as standard cards, but has been getting more expensive the past couple of years.
The 2013 set went for $300-$400 after SDCC 2013 then slowly rose throughout the year. Not sure when exactly but along the way, sellers began parsing out each card to sell at a higher price. I believe the 2013 ones are currently are going for $100-$250 each depending on which one. I remember seeing one (maybe Chandra?) jump up to around $200 for a time. I would just hang onto them unless you really need the money.
Does Garruk have no colors at all except in the mana symbol? Kinda wish he had 2 different ones
Sorry for the late reply. If you examine it closely, there are two shades of black being used, a grey shade and black itself. But yeah, the green mana symbol is the only other non black shade of color on it. Liliana has the same color scheme going on.
Like you, a couple of mine from last year had dinged edges. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how much better the edges were this year. Either their making/packaging process has gotten better or I received a much better batch because I didn't see any dings on the edges at all. All my the foils were flat except for Garruk, which out of the packaging already had a bit of the foil curling going on. I gotta admit, looking at them out of the packaging, it looks really sweet. The black combined with the color highlights really do make them look pretty pimp.

I opened up the one I picked up and wanted to share with everyone how the whole set was packaged. Much more protection this time around. I counted 5 layered sections so there should be more than enough protection when it is getting shipped.

I just got into the room. They don't clear out rooms in between panels so anyone can just sit thru the previous panels before the Magic one. Two hours left, time to get comfortable in my chair.
