The actual reason is just that people are buying up everything on the reserved list to sit on it for a while and unload it all once people have money again. My source? Myself. I’m doing that. I’ve bought a lot of reserved list cards in the last 5 months. I have very solid positions on quite a few reserved list cards.

I agree, this should be in baseless speculation at best. OP's title and post seem to suggest some correlation between coronavirus, Hasbro collected reserved list cards, and an increase in reserved list prices. I think that's at best conspiracy theory.

Do you have any sources for your rumors? Or is it just your conspiracy buddy that you play tabletop magic with?

Sorry if that sounds rude, but your post seems very vague and I'm not buying it at all. Are you suggesting that, to sell a new set on a plane that is already popular, that Wizards decided to shell out ridiculous amounts of cash to purchase up reserved list cards and vintage (Homelands?) packs to stuff in Zendikar Rising boxes and collectors boxes? It would seem to me that it would instead be much more cost effective to print some new expeditions, as people have been clamoring fetchlands. That would be much cheaper than recapturing reserved list cards, and it would push sales which they proved the last time they did it.

So yes, it IS just a rumor, and no, it does not make sense logically. It seems like this ploy would cost them more than it would make them, and they have other ways to push sales.

  • posted a message on Wizards cuts ties with artist Terese Nielsen
    Source: Weekly MTG, https://www.hipstersofthecoast.com/2020/06/wizards-ends-their-relationship-with-terese-nielsen/

It seems that Wizards is ending their relationship with artist Terese Nielsen due to controversy surrounding her ties to offensive individuals and/or groups. This is my paraphrasing of the article; please read the article and the quotes from Doug Beyer, Principle Game Designer on the Worldbuilding Team for MT:G for exactly what was said. Beyer did confirm they have not commissioned new art from Nielsen for a while and that the last set to have any reprint art from Nielsen will be this Fall's Zendikar Rising.

i don't see the point in ormos's ability

either i'm winning on the spot with lab man/jace/thassa's oracle or i'm losing from drawing while there's no cards. the **** is a 10/10 gonna do for me?

his draw ability though, that's ******* great in edh... just not at that casting cost.

i will never say no to more rhystic studies, i'm starting to run out of them.

I think that ability can close out a game. Activate his ability, put 25 counters on him, kill someone with commander damage? You presume it's late game and that for some reason you dont have lab man/jace/oracle.

I know the Onslaught version always held value over the reprint in Khans, but I always though the ONS art was very bland. Otherwise, great card obviously.

T4feri is in one of these decks.

Hello empty slot in many boxes at LGS's and lower price on the remaining?

Are you going to be able to tell from the outside which pack is which? I thought I heard you won't know until it's opened.

I play a sea monster deck in EDH, and I definitely still play Stormtide Leviathan. It generally becomes a must-kill for the board, and I can set up lines of play for if it gets removed.

Twinblade Assassins is a fine limited card, but the comparisons to Deathreap Ritual, at least as far as commander is concerned, are not nearly as good as some in this thread are suggesting: ritual can (and should, if the deck is made properly) draw you a card each turn, so in a pod of 4 players that's a ton of cards. Whereas the assassins only can (and should) draw a card on each of your turns. Where the ritual is a card drawing engine, assassins draws 1/4 the cards and is better off being compared to weaker card draw like Phyrexian Arena.

I think this card is great. Two conditional ways to get card draw, a free discard outlet, and evasion on a cheap body in a semi-relevant creature type.

I really like this card in EDH with the previously-mentioned Solemnity, which I already use in Zur. However, the leaves-the-battlefield clause is SUCH a liability in commander, where I commonly see cards like Austere Command, Bane of Progress, even Nevinyrral's Disk.

So is the point of her having 3 completely different cards to show off her wide array of abilities? The first two seemed pretty close to each other, both being mana dorks based on combat.

This card feels like it could've been any other creature and they just tacked her name on it because it's easy. The art even has nothing to do with the card kind of like it was back in the old days.

I’m not a big lore person, but from what I’ve read about other characters in this set, this is from a much earlier time, pre invasion, and many characters were different.

Can i order the trigger as i want? Can i copy my creature first and the return it to my hand?

This isn’t the rulings thread so I don’t want to get in trouble for responding, but no. All targets must be selected when you put the spell on the stack, so your token won’t be on the field. And the abilities will happen in the order printed on the card.

I want to sound an alarm here that this could be another sleeper "ruins your standard" card. Courser of Kruphix was a powerful value engine that saw a lot of play. This is similar value engine, better aggressive body worse defensive and less information revealed. But its also stapled to an end-game win condition. Its like you take your courser's draw package and give it an ability rivaling spawnsire of ulamog. Yikes. Because decks with cards like growth spiral, uro, titan of nature's wrath and this will have no problems accelerating out land drops, and 6 lands turns this into a 9/9 first strike, but once it hits that critical 12th land you suddenly get a ridiculous 27/27 first strike that can end the game in one attack. Yeah, no evasion, no protection, but it seems extremely dangerous to have an already efficient draw/ramp pieces that's equivalent to a previous all-star card and staple a mana dump that wins you the game onto it. It would be like if they reprinted Priest of Titania but gave it a fireball activated ability

I probably missed something, how did he get to 27/27 in your scenario?

While I like Conclave Mentor, he's no Winding Constrictor - the former is restricted to +1/+1 counters, while the snake doubles all kinds of counters, and therefore has more broad applications. Mentor is still a cool card!

This seems good! An efficient body, and a very relevant trigger on damage. Scales with pump effects. Like the green mythic beef, nothing on ETB nor cast, which I’m fine with.
