My favorite Magic card is Saproling Burst.
I used to run it in a mono-green legacy deck that would tear the pants off most other legacy decks, despite those decks being many times more valuable than my own. Creature generation on an enchantment - yes please!
Also, it was my first foil card.
Don’t be too surprised, this thread is from 2014, before either of your suggestions were printed.
For Slivers, Jegantha, the Wellspring is pretty good as far as companions go. I'd lose Patriarch's Bidding, Telekinetic Sliver, Acidic Slime, Sun Titan, Living Death, and Primal Surge. While I could live without those, the payoff is debatable. Jegantha is good, but once I have access to 5 mana, do I need her as a mana dork? Generally once I've gotten to 5 mana I'm usually doing more impactful things. I think a case could be made for an all-creature version using Umori, the Collector as a companion, but the temptation at that point to just cut Umori and add Primal Surge would be strong.
Supply. Grim Tutor was only printed in paper in Starter 1999, so there is a very small supply of it. And quite a few decks that want one tutor (like the best Demonic Tutor) want all the tutors in order to increase consistency. So if you're building a very competitive EDH deck, and you want all the available tutors in order to tutor out your combo, this card can be in demand.
I play a ton of EDH, and can confirm that Birthing Pod sees a lot of play in EDH.
1) What is my creatures power and toughness, assuming no other creature on board? The top creature of the mutate is a 4/4, but the creature has a characteristic defining ability from Pack Rat, so in my scenario would it just be a 1/1?
2) Assuming the same as above, now let’s say I use the Pack Rat activates ability of my mutation to make a token. What are the characteristics of my token copy?
3) Finally, similar to the original scenario but let’s say I mutate a legendary mutate creature like Nethroi, Apex of Death in place of Gemrazer, putting Nethroi on the top of the mutation. If I then use my mutations Pack Rat activated ability to create a token copy, would I then have to place either my original mutation or the token copy into the graveyard as a state based effect due to the legendary rule?
Thanks in advance!
Regarding your deck versus the others, definitely play what and how you want, just be mindful about some common theories of deckbuilding and playing in a casual/friendly meta: one popular thought is to build casually, but play competitively. The thinking behind this is that if you build your deck in a casual way, you won't then be forced to "pull punches" when playing your deck, which can come off as patronizing to your opponents. If you subscribe to this train of thought, then when you're pulling punches during a game (like, with your deck, doing anything with tutors besides assembling your combo as fast as possible), then not everyone is trying to win. And if that's a game that you and your opponents are OK to play, that's great. Just know there is a portion of people who would consider is rude/condescending to play a deck and not try to win.

Akroma, Angel of Fury is in your colors, and has protection from blue. So is Goblin Piledriver but he requires more goblins. Since you’re kind of trying to screw over a particular person you could play True Name Nemesis.
