Problem for that assessment with Jaya is that you are never going to want to be in a position say,"well at least I can use this dead card." Cause you never want a dead card, even of you can use it as fuel. The reason Brimaz is good pricey is that he doesn't easily die. At x/4 just about anything can survive most of what the format can throw at it outside that cares about size.

Hero has the benefit of two dudes in and attacking and boosting the rest of your team. A 1/1 vigilance is all good and such but will die to put the vigilance to use. Part of what made Sera Avenger a great card! 3/3 flying survives a lot of matches. And Lightning Angel in those WRu midrange. Creature types are a relevant thing to consider also!

Back to spinning my head over construction directions. Dug out lynx'i, Geopede's, and Searing Blaze. Any consideration on Roiling Terain if buffing LD?

Now how about some new cards? Anax and Cymede aren't the toughest to start with BUT if we add a buff or two more in the deck in addition to Charm, it pays by buffing your whole team and letting them trample. Starts as a 3/2 first strike and vigilance. I'm certainly not going to suggest Fabled Hero but A&C can be triggered with enough of our own removal if need be. Say already going to die post blockers declared, Path. First main phase, Forked Bolt or ugh that other one I can't remember... My standard Boros hasn't had much use yet(though I've been debating going the Heroic/Bestow route a lot) but this format may find a better suiting

Yeah, effectively only Silverbalde provides the comparable power base at Crusader without further digging. I run nearly every 2/X for 3 white aggressive offered in Cube drafting or across all the standard or draft across the years... I would not replace either of those two options with Brimaz. I might replace out hefty 3/4 Battle Cry queen however. A turn sooner to drop and without trample from Legion Loyalist or something I'd rather hit sooner or leave mana open for activating Slayer's Stronghold or spot removal.

Gray do you really see enough consistant G or B to pick the Crusader over a Silverbalde? Silverbalde effectively is a turn faster and makes Step Lynx and other early threats carry into the mid/late game.

As for Tunnel Ignus and Zo-Zu, they get turned on even more hard core with Goblin Guide and Path in main. You know where they want to be anyways. Until I get more fetches I feel I need to back off Boom//Bust as it's just not gonna hit how I want and maintain tempo without knocking back my opponent more than their's... Slant wispers of possibly reprinting on color fetches in a set or two would be fantastic! Bring in all 10 fetches in Modern and maybe they'd give and print all 10! Drive a few prices down... Just like with the Shock-lands!

As for updates... I'm sad to realize how hard the graveyard hate is... Martyr/Proc just won't be effective enough I fear... THOUGH! I put forth to ask why not a few more Human focused builds? There are enough aggressive humans we already use to make Champion of the Parish an easy add! Even keeping GG and FoD there are plenty of triggers!

On Boros Burn you were recently discussing! I think the assessment is right! Push a lot of burn and the removal heavy meta games inherent to Modern.

Yes, please an update to the primer seems much needed. All the new pieces flooding in from the recent sets. I've been playing Midrange Boros for forever and always find myself adjusting and tinkering but never going to any events with it... And about the only variant I haven't shifted to trying is Landfall. But LD, aggro, midrange, control, Martyr/Proc, old school extended aggro, RWu. It's just my favorite so I'd really like to through as many ideas around and try to get even more acceptable variants and packages out there! I always seem to manage some RW standard variant too...

BTW how does everyone feel about Zo-Zu? Even pushing punishment LD with Tunnel Ignus too on LD variant or sb packages?

Gonna have to shift some cards around. Been gold fishing for a few hours with bass icky dropping the Hymns and Commands for rituals. Needs some digging or like Scry or something to dig to an EpEx or if I have the EpEx to dig for the right amount of umph... EpEx on about 4-5 and Blistercoil with Dual Casting... Everything else just fall too flat still. Maybe Chandra needs to come back in along with Manamorphose.

Which is what I thought before posting it, but I checked on Gatherer before hitting post and ow that I just looked again I must have had a brain fart. So much for that idea... Cheap color fixing... Chromatic Sphere or Star? Won't accelerate but will draw like Manamorphose.

How about Chrome Mox to try speeding up a turn and Shrapnel Blast because it had hit for 5 when cast off the EpEx without the artifact to sac.

The Past in Flame is actually a redundancy. I have taken it out a few times. The point here is to turn up the clock now that I have access to rituals and a broader spectrum of spells. The hitting X or 4-6 is more for range than the CMC. Digging enough to hit the next fork.
I used to run Guildmage Lava Spike when it was in standard and a ritual heavy combo deck that builds to a large X spell or some other kind of trigger (or just Grapeshot the win) off Mind Moil. So between those and Mind's Desire I'm not new to these highly calculated risk decks.

So I'll run the suggestion you made to see where that's at and go through the revamp of it's typical run. Probably replacing the Brimstone Volleys for the Grapeshots or mingling the two. Not relying on the Puromancer's Assension or Swath (i know you didn't list them but still worth a mention)is nice about the Volleys though. Even if you kill one of your own dudes to have active Morbid.

So no one is interested in UR variant EpEx? It can go off big and reliably with a single copy effect and an X of 4... Other than Silence, Rule of Law, or some other restricter like Thalia it's fairly reliable as it's hard to through enough one for one disruption at it. It also has enough means of establishing the synergy that it's not easily shut down.

Thanks I'm used to car forums not Magic forums. Haven't been of any contribution since Wizards had first introduced their forums ages ago.

And I'll save this post to place whatever most current future build sits at.

So I now have what WAS a standard pet deck that I had fun playing with. However never FULLY dedicated the time for True Standard event usage but found a fairly regular rhythm play testing against standard net decks and competitive home brews of my area. Rotation has hit twice now cycling out most of what made the deck POP. Would like to wade into the modern card pool and shift to play with some more and possibly find a real home. Still shuffling ideas in my head of new Standard variants mostly because I miss Mind's Desire that much!

Dug out the box and decided a quick scrawling of the list before I tear it down to start fresh.

    Blue Red Epic Experiment!

    Variations being
    w/o Chandra, the Firebrand
    W/o Infernal Plunge
    W/o PiF
W/o Physic Spiral(effective recursion of the whole deck)
    W/o Guttersnipe

Sideboard kinda... Never had any exact sideboard.
    Pithing Needle
    Pillar of Flame
    Think Twice
    Annihilating Fire
    Nivix Guildmage
    Blusterquall
    Izzet Keyrune
    Vandalblast
    Counterflux

I utterly am at a loss as to why Chandra wasn't in the deck when I slipped it out. That was probably one if the more potent versions of the deck as it gave me an extra copy effect and took some heat off of me to go off with about an X of 4-6. Some solitaring(yes not accurate for gauging normal play) yielded me stopping counting the number if copies of Epic Experiment on the stack at about 12.

Flame suit is in and ready for ideas!
