. The dragon costs wayyyy too much for a 5/4.

Not for red, I think they pushed thundermaw too much and we all got used to it, they however learned how broken it was and pulled it back. Red always seems to have clunky fliers. CLEARLY its one of those, I play this dude and now I can squeak in my final 6 damage through, type of card (aka agro reach card).

    I second lumovanis
end of your turn i will scry
    untap
    put this on the battlefield...
    seems legit to me.

Unless there is a downside to the manifestation counter, like the stupid illusion bs...

The green one is meah seriously who will be yeah have a 12/12 and in ths ths bng draft I am just just waiting to hear:
Do you put the 6 +1/+1's?
    No.
Well then its doing 6 damage to XXXXX
in response gods willing pro green...
    OR
    Do you pay the tribute?
sure... and on the end of your turn hero's downfall... sip of hemlock... voyages end... etc

Sure a 6 mana 12/12 cool I doubt it will live very long, and 6 mana for a decent possibility of a 6/6 and/or removal isn't bad in limited... but still not fantastic.

the demon would excel in a red black token deck... if there was one...

the archon could be legit with bestow, if it allows you to bring back the bestowers as enchantments, if not its still a dude. Or for the control player to get back their spheres, pacifisms, and claustrophobias.

The red dragon seems legit in in limited and could find an interesting home in a RG domri/ xenogos beat down dragon and hydra deck

BUT MOSTLY when has a prerelease promo not sucked (sure some have been really good, but you couldn't use them in your deck)... they are the least good (or at least very close to being the least good) rares in the sets. They usually highlight some new mechanic/gimmick that the designers want to slap us in the faces with. Thats just my 2 cents

Ok so lets say I have an agent of the fates and a nivmagus elemental ; can I cast a Lightning Strike targeting the agent causing them to have to sac and then exile it giving +1/+1 counters to the elemental. Or does something else happen? Secondly can I trigger cipher choose to cast the ciphered spell and do the same thing?

    battle of wits
    grisly spectacle

    vs fuse/ split cards

So I know they are two spells but I am guessing they don't count as 2 cards. Or have the paint fumes been getting to me again and they do count as 2 cards.

See my back ground is in linguistics and systems engineering. So parsing words is EXTREMELY important. In everything I came across wizards is usually very thorough in defining things, seriously the state statutes are often more ambiguous than MTG/DCI rules. However in this case it is very open to interpretation.

I will say if I were the judge in any instance where someone (opponent or player) shuffled a hand into a library, I would Issue a cheating violation unless they could prove to me it was an accident. That is like driving the wrong way on highway bad (in comparison, shuffling a hand into a library most likely won't end in death). I just am too skeptical/ cynical to accept, "oops, I wasn't paying attention and I shuffled it in."

I can see how the person who wasn't shuffling could have glanced away for a second or two (to take notes, check life totals, get a drink of water) and bam the next thing you know the other player could have set seven (or less) cards on the top of the pile and riffled or shotgunned. That action takes less than 5 seconds I bet we all could put a hand on a library and shuffle faster than we could open a water bottle up and take a swig.

I just scoured all the information I can find and NO WHERE is the definition of what "Physical Damage" means. In fact whenever a card that is damaged as in the case of water spillage or poor shuffling (both actually listed) the only word that appears is damage(d) and has no adjectives not physical, not emotional, not psychological, nothing.
So to illustrate using Oscar Wilde like absurdity.

I am at a tournament and a light from the ceiling falls on the table during my opponents turn and the cards are all destroyed. Do we both get warnings or does he only get one as he had priority? Or is that game loss territory?
    Or
I played act of treason and went to reach for my opponents Boros Reckoner and paper cut my self on it to the point of a nasty bleeding flap, Is that physical damage or un-sportsman conduct?

I think this merits a email to wizards as there isnt a clear definition of what "physical damage" is.

Arguing amongst our selves will get us no where with out that definition.

  • posted a message on Illness in the ranks vs assemble the legion+ court street denizen
So what exactly happens if player G plays Assemble the legion, and player H plays illness in the ranks. This becomes interesting because player G also has out a court street denizen. I am assuming that the soldier tokens enter the battlefield and upon resolution check the SBA of the -1/-1 of the illness in the ranks causing them to go poof, but not after allowing the court street denizen to trigger its tap target creature. Am I right or do I need to open another window when using this much spray paint?
