So just to make sure I'm clear on what you are saying. I open a pack worth 3.99. I open a pack with 15 cards. Depending on the rare, I could trade it back in for double or triple the worth. That's losing money? I guess I don't see the logic. For example; During the GTC pre-release my son pulled a Breeding pool. At that time the LGS was doing trade in value double for the new cards. So he got a trade in value worth 10.00. They offered him 4 packs of cards. He opened up a foil Boros, and an Aurelia and a Sacred Foundry from 3 of the 4 packs. Ok lucky pulls. So what? But it happens more often then what you would think...
In the long run, you pay more for the packs (especially at $3.99 a pop -- lots of places they are cheaper than that) than you get for trading the cards in. You might get lucky with a few packs, or even a box, but it evens out pretty quickly (card distribution is not random). We tend to remember the good pulls and forget the bad ones.
Oh, and some stores do open packs to get singles to sell. Because they pay about $75 per box and sell singles at non-buylist prices, they can crack packs and make money.
I get what you are saying and agree with you 100%. That's not what I'm really saying, but it's a moot point. Players are going to continue to do what they do and get the cards they get...and like Infinitii said, glad someone is coming back, rather than whining and quitting. Cheers!

I disagree; as I was stating my opinion on the matter. It works wonderfully for me and others in my local area. There are 4 LGS's in my area where people want to complete sets, or want that crap rare for an edh deck, or whatever. So it may not work for YOU, but that doesn't mean it WON'T work for others. I'm competitive, and I'll be glad to take that 95% if you want to give them to me, I'll PM you my address and I'll even pay for shipping.
Unless you are buying it for trade fodder. Then if that's your thing, then it's not so foolish. Especially if you can pick up a box at like 99 bucks. But I wouldn't do it if you were looking to collect pieces to finish a deck. That is foolish.
