    Wishboard cards:

Mycosynth lattice and maybe some other artifacts for Karn, since I am planning on playing him regardless of wishboards or no.

Other than that, I'd be unlikely to run many if any wishes in any lists so I can't say beyond that. Paying 2+ extra mana on any spell that wasn't important enough to be main decked seems pretty bad to me. Way more than 2 mana if I also had to actually tutor the wish first... which also means I wouldn't put anything particularly important in the wishboard.

I did say I thought it was technically the cleanest of three, however I would still not be in favor of the change.
A one line rule that makes them somewhat functional is appealing, but by not working as printed OR as referenced in the oracle text it will likely cause some confusion. Additionally, “get from exile” cards such as Riftsweeper and Pull From Eternity are barely played as it is, so it’s unlikely that the wishes will even get seen in general.

The absolute cleanest way would be for it to “grab any card from your collection” as per the oracle, but that would be utterly atrocious.

All three of those examples are pretty bad. The main idea behind allowing wishes is that they should either be banned or be allowed to work as to not need additional rules for them (r13, at this time).

Version one: hits the useless wishes while leaving the useful ones, good. However you'd still rule 13 to clarify that Karn and Research//Development don’t grab anything outside of the game.

Version two: the one that allows wishes to function as sorta intended. It would still need an additional rule for the size of the sideboard and what rules they would follow (presumably the normal edh ones since you can’t add a banned or modern legal card to your standard sideboard).

Version three: a wish level errata to update them to modern times. Technically the cleanest version, but it has three ‘problems’. The first is that normal wishes would still be mostly useless, the second is that they still wouldn’t function ‘as intended’, and lastly it would still need an additional rule to govern them. So we’re essentially back at where we are now.

Tldr: two of your suggestions are practically the same thing the RC is doing right now, and the other would need even more details while still not working “as intended”.

I like how not only people can’t agree on the rules for how wishes should be implemented (which is why they aren’t), but they also can’t agree on rules on how to discuss the topic.

And yet there was no discussion about purphoros being legal when it was printed. It was just brought in no problem.

He’s the one pointing out how one cycle of legendary creatures that are hard to remove didnt raise any eyebrows (which is wrong, people knew how powerful indestructible commanders in the zone were) but peope are doing it for a whole subset of cards that would become legal commanders over night

Also, Leovold too was brought in no problem, he was just later banned, dunno what your point was meant to be.

Not sure how this is still a topic after about four posts this month alone from the RC stating they aren’t even considering this.

Because he’s a Legendary creature, and Legendary creatures are legal commanders.

I think the RC just doesn't want to have 20 cards on a BaaC list. I think they should rip off that bandaid.
Having a BaaC list almost as long as the general ban list is in direct opposition to their sated 'keep the ban list as short as reasonable'. And I would hardly call it a band-aid, we had it before and it caused more confusion than it was worth IMO.

From the article it seems like the issue was more the fact that there were barely any cards on it, but I agree that it would be weird to bring it back and add more cards to a banned list, even if not the official one.

Maybe we should make a poll for the Banned as a Commander list. If we voted in favour maybe the RC would have to consider it.

Just an FYI of Sheldon's stance on bringing back BaaC, for better or for worse.

Ashiok says spells and abilities your opponents control. Maralen is your effect, not theirs.

The only similar card is really Mycosynth Lattice, who costs twice as much and instead of accidentally breaking colored repeated cards it just shuts them off, and makes all artifact removal better.

They’re all in good fun when that’s the desired effect of the interactions

Because running Jokulhaups is one thing and being 'forced' to cast one is another, specially when that isn't even the intent of the card in your deck (also Jokulhaups spares enchantments so you can come up on top of it). Living lands interacts badly with less cards than Servant, ie basically just boardwipes and Linvala.

Thirty Saprolings (which seems like a very likely undercount) into puprophorus or repeatably discarding peoples hands isn't particularly sweet.

Agreed. I would want to know what situation we're worried about here, exactly.

Anyways dunno why you even bothered asking that since you've constantly dismissed everything that doesn't agree with you, but that's to be expected since it's what you've been doing across several different threads.

Oh, totally forgot that Painter’s also works as a second Darkest Hour for Teysa.

Edit 1 Turns Jaya into a reusable vindicate too.

Edit 2 and interacts with most if not all of the non elder Shard legendary dragons.

Because if there’s a servant in play that didnt name my color and I’m forced to play my boardwipe (read Ugin, Dust, or Rav@War) because I’ll lose otherwise it’s going to be a *****ty time, probably for everyone involved.

Everything else I mentioned is a bad interaction for everyone who isnt the player gaining advantage because of someone elses Servant.

I’ve played Mycosynth Lattice to lock people out and I’ve played against Evening x Aura Thief. They’re all in good fun when that’s the desired effect of the interactions... and also not the point since the point is that the issue is the interaction with the cards other people play, not your own two card combos.

The issue obviously isn’t people casting the painter’s into any of those cards, that would be painter’s casters fault. The problem is casting those cards into a field that already has a Painter’s.

Which is ironic since Niv Mizzet is probably the only deck that would even want to run a Servant lol

If anything these new walkers are more reason for why they shouldnt be allowed, lol.
