Sorry for the double post, but I am debating on actually putting together a Primer for the 4CC Gifts and was wondering if anyone would like to give me a hand.
Things I plan to include:
Card Choices
Decks
Gift's Packages
Match-ups (This is where I would need this most help)
Anyone interested?
I would suggest the RWUb gifts to be covered as well as I have not seen much discussion on that variant.
Thats the last list lucas posted, so Gifts is more of a Value card (and might bait counters in fear of Rites?) than a real gameplan
Note that Unburial Rites would likely make the deck belong into UW Tron.
Thanks for that. I feel that makes the deck a little less solid from the looks of it. Snapcasters work well, I have tried them, but mana leak is underwhelming and doesn't help tempo like remand. Also, I know a lot of people don't like solemn simulacrum, but I've found him to be awesome and at least a 2 of is needed. He fixes, ramps, chumps, and draws.
I'm testing this deck since months on Cockatrice, I really like the idea behind it.
But I really have problems winning with the deck.
Do you rush into Gifts, or do you try to play it control?
Also, I think it is difficult to side against some matchups.
Lets take Tron, or Affinity. Any ideas?
I have been liking this deck. The way I play it is kind of more tempo/control based and if they tap out, I play gifts. R/G Tron, side in terastadon, spreading seas, sowing salt. U Tron, similar, except no spreading seas. Affinity, something like shatterstorm or engineered explosivescan be effective.
Sundering Titan has won me many games. I have tried a variety of changes, but always seem to go back to the original Shocktroopa list. I also tried Snapcaster Mage about a month ago and it was helpful against fast aggro type decks. As Shocktroopa has said, the original list is near perfect.
There is an artifact that costs 2 I believe that makes all non creature spells cost 1 more. I liked (been awhile since I played it) darksteel citadel, mox, and a free artifact to cast it next turn would be a copy of it preferably then 3rd turn I'd play loadstone. After that a clone effect. The basic idea was control could never cast a single spell against me. Only worked a handful of times but was so pretty when it did work.
This is what I am working on and it seems to be great 70% of the time. It goes off turn 2-3 half the time and by 4-5 maybe 20% of the time. I would say it only has about 30% bad luck. I find RWU control/midrange to be the toughest match up and decks that run lilliana and deathrite can prove annoying if I don't go off quickly. I can definitely see how seething song made this deck much more consistent. I'm wondering if maybe in the place of desperate ritual, there may be some mana dork that would do a better job of ramping to through the breach by turn 3?

How much space are you devoting to gifts? Are you running the whole unburial package or just gifts as a tutor?
