This card is secretly bonkers in Cube. Does not take up a spell slot in your deck, and when it's live (meaning: your opponent casts a legend), oh boy is it live. Gets better with every expansion. When it comes to your own deck, it doesn't have to be Venser or Clique all the time, just protecting Isamaru/Thalia/Geist of Saint Traft is really quite ridiculous at no cost whatsoever. I think it's also a really interesting draft decision, and since I always seem to get it, I think most of the others get it wrong
The green Mother of Runes, was #2 on my list of top 20 underrated Cube cards a while back. I simply do not understand how this guy doesn't get more love, he has unbelievable impact for a one drop. Favorite game situations involving him are alongside Knight of the Reliquary/Tradewind Rider/Titania (or you know, literally ANY of the broken creatures Wizards loves to print nowadays), or when you search him up with other gems like Chord of Calling or Ranger of Eos.
This guy is freaking awesome. There's nothing about it I don't like, good on turn 2, better in the late game, prowess, card advantage. Not the best, but the most exciting card of the set so far, for me.
Seeing Obzedat, Ghost Council in action recently and swooning over the completely different angle of attack it offers a deck, I wanted to inquire about cards you feel bring a new dimension to a game of Magic. Basically I'm looking for cards that create a sort of subgame within the game (but in a fun, non-Sharahzad way). Some examples besides Obzedat:
Aetherling (similar to Obzedat)
Rude Awakening/Craterhoof Behemoth(I like these for their ability to win out of absolutely nowhere, once your opponents know you have it fun things happen, I have found)
Smokestack/Jinxed Choker (do I keep committing? do I add another counter? am I ahead or behind?)
Standstill
Eight-and-a-half Tails
Greater Gargadon (the best, ever)
I think Fierce Empath is better for this kind of thing, since it puts the card in your hand, but it has a similar problem of not enough targets being in most Cubes.
As for some of the cards mentioned in this thread, my thoughts:
Cards I currently enjoy in my cube (means I think they are both powerful and fun):
Shrine of Burning Rage
Attrition
Kessig Wolf Run
Keranos, God of Storms
Avenger of Zendikar
Polukranos, World Eater
Snuff Out
Craterhoof Behemoth
Master of Waves
Nether Void
Academy Rector
Sphinx's Revelation
Archangel of Thune
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner
Blood Artist
Scuttling Doom Engine
Cards I don't currently run in my cube, but I still think are powerful and might run again at some point:
Trading Post
Frantic Search
Phantom Centaur
Guul Draz Assassin
Unearth
Helm of Possession
Dungeon Geists
Sadistic Hypnotist
Prophet of Kruphix
Cards that I look forward to trying in some Cube after (re-)discovering them in the thread:
Nimbus Naiad
Lust for War
Praetor's Grasp
Lashknife Barrier
Valley Dasher
Seeker of the Way (I think this card is going to be really good, great CC, if it triggers even once it's already decent value, more and it's a beating)
Dig Through Time
Clever Impersonator
Bloodsoaked Champion
Murderous Cut
Hordeling Outburst
Monastery Swiftspear
Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
Tormenting Voice
I do have to say that your list butchers Storm pretty comprehensively, cutting Future Sight, Heartbeat of Spring, Restock, Nostalgic Dreams, etc... I think the Storm cards you added are good additions, but you definitely need to keep all these if you want it to be draftable and (occasionally) good.

Gideon is likely never leaving my Cube. He just does something so unique and powerful!
