steve_man posted a message on [RIX][CUBE] Profane Procession//Tomb of the Dusk RoseRepeatable removal is cool, but Parallax Wave this is not. Need to sink 8 total mana just to exile one creature, 13 mana for the second, 18 for the third, and 22 to actually cast the creature. Even if Orzhov wasn't stacked to the brim, this is too slow.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion

I hope not, there's already enough altered cards relating to that cancer in this game.

Know what's more annoying than overzealous MLP fans? Overzealous MLP bashers.

Fiveod posted a message on UG Aftermath SorcerySometimes two marginal effects stapled together on one card creates something playable because the versatility makes up for the weakness of either effect. This is not one of those times.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Quote from arrogantAxolotl »Wow, you're right! I totally forgot about this card. Thanks for reminding me.
I didn't play much during Time Spiral block, so I can't recall how often this saw play. Intuition tells me it didn't make many waves though.
I was playing at the time and I can tell you your intuition is correct. -

Fiveod posted a message on UG Aftermath SorceryIt's the Champion of Rhonas thread again. People never learn. If you think this card is good, feel free to put your money where your mouth is and preorder a ton of them.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

Fiveod posted a message on UG Aftermath SorceryU for Scry 3 at Sorcery speed is not fine. It's card disadvantage and negative tempo for a marginally useful effect. Even at Instant I couldn't imagine playing it but Sorcery is right out. The card doesn't even lend itself to playing the Scry half early and then the Aftermath later because you've lost your deck manipulation by then. Best case scenario you ramp in to playing this turn 4 and then you've got to hope you can hit something worth spending 6 mana on in your top 4 cards, otherwise you just spent 6 mana on a slightly better Preordain. It's awful.Posted in: The Rumor Mill - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I mean, Hexmage already exists, dark depths is already banned in modern, and I doubt a 2nd hexmage is gonna suddenly break the deck in legacy.

There was some backlash against the art (given the history of domestic violence), so a bunch of entitled white males who feel like the game no longer catering specifically to them is the worst thing that could ever happen decided to glom onto this as evidence of the "SJW agenda" to ruin magic.
It ignores, of course, the fact that we got a garruk a full 2 years AFTER triumph of ferocity, but logic was never the strong suit of that corner of the internet.

I don't get how he's reaching this conclusion from MaRo's post, when the post clearly states that the PW in every pack itself was the crazy mechanic.
"bidoofvselite-four asked: So War of the Spark is confirmed to have 36 planeswalkers, with a planeswalker in every pack. Is that the crazy aspect about the set that you're super excited for us you see?
Yes! : )"
So, there's no indication here that they are all flip walkers or that there's an additional crazy aspect. Now, they could still all be flip walkers, we don't know, but this isn't very compelling evidence.

If you don't run moxen for power reasons, I can't imagine running Sol Ring, which is just better than the moxen. I also wouldn't run mana crypt, as in a fair number of decks it's just a better sol ring. Especially where the only cards that can reasonably compete with crypt and sol ring are power, so if those are out, sol ring and crypt are just miles away the best card in the cube.
Library should be out for similar reasons, as without power (and sol ring and crypt), it will be substantially better than any other card in the cube.
IMO, anything else is fair game. Mind twist has been in my cube since day 1 and never felt broken (a lot of what makes it broken is moxen and sol ring/crypt), tinker and channel are both fragile enough and all-in enough that they don't feel unfair.
Now, all this is if you want a more balanced power environment. If your group WANTS to try sol ring, crypt, library, etc, go for it! If it's unfun they'll let you know.

I'd run 1st ral zarek, electrolyze, and izzet charm of cards I'm not running now (which would get me to 7) before steam augury.
