Hi all. This is my U/W Nevermore Prison Modern deck. The goal is to slowly lock my opponent out of the game, by nevermore'ing their win cons or building up a huge attacking tax with Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety for more creature-based decks. My win-cons are of course, Aetherling, Elspeth and Colonnade. I'm wondering if you all could let me know what you think and help me improve it.
I recently downloaded MTGO and bought singles to build my Modern deck.
I assembled the deck, go into the constructed open play area and see open games I can join, but when I click 'details', there's no 'join game' button that allows me to actually play.
Eventually somebody else joins, and I'm left to watch their game. Very frustrating.
Also, I can't figure out how to create my own game, if that's possible.
I've searched on Google for this, but can't find any answers.
The way I see it being better in your deck is due to the fact that Paladin or another creature does damage to your opponent. I see honor working better in a deck where you are making more tokens and letting the game go on past turn 4-5. With a deck that plays a bunch of 2/1s and 3/1s you want to be attacking each turn, so why not make your 2 drop Honor of the Pure be able to attack on turn 3?
If they are going to use removal on your Paladin on turn 2, then they would probably be able to use that same removal on your turn 3 play even if that creature is pumped to 2 or 3 toughness.
Another good creature you could try out is Spirit of the Labyrinth. It helps you vs. the blue decks that are trying to get ahead with Serum Visions and its got a wicket power for its cost. I think I'd start with something like this and then look to add a few Grand Abolisher and Imposing Sovereign if you feel like you really need the effects. Abolisher might be a better sideboard card to include for control deck matches.
I guess I just don't get how Accorder Paladin could be better than Honor Of The Pure, in your mind. It's +1/+1 constantly, and much harder to remove, versus, yes another attacker, but gives +1/0 and only when attacking, and dies to removal.
Your creatures like Precinct Captain could definitely benefit from some battle cry in the deck, it might be worth taking out the Honor of the Pure for Accorder Paladin.
Bonesplitter is not a bad idea. Don't know if i like the fragile and dynamic effect given by Accorder Paladin. I was also considering dropping the Ethereal Armor for a playset of Student of Warfare, but I don't see myself having the mana to dump into it often enough.
Formula was simple, gather up the most aggressively costed white creatures CMC 1-3, smash them together, and add some support.
Don't really like Ethereal Armor, for the 2-1 risk, but don't know what else to add. Afraid Swords are probably too slow for mainboard, but might be a good idea in side.
Radio host/freelance VO artist here, been doing that for about as long as I've been playing Magic (close to 10 years), been meaning to start an M:TG podcast, because I think it would be a lot of fun, I enjoy broadcasting and have better equipment than most of the other podcasts, so it will sound much more professional, assuming we ourselves sound like we know what we're talking about. I almost exclusively play Standard competitively, and monitor it very closely. That or general Magic news would be my preference.
I have phone recording equipment, so ideally it would be myself and 2 co-hosts, and at certain times one co-host and one guest (developer, player, commentator, w/e).
Played this back in Scars/Innistrad with some degree of FNM success, but it's one of the most fun decks I have ever played. Here's my first crack at a Modern version, up to KTK.
Thanks! Would love to hear some reports on how it does as I've also got it put together but am limited on time so I've only been able to test it online with XMage. It has performed quite well there, but it sitll definitely needs more testing.
Also yeah, Flamespeaker really shines in a deck like this one. Although I've been really tempted to put it in a Red/Green deck. The only thing I've considered swapping it out for is Satyr Nyx-Smith, just because of the board presence and if you are getting in fast you should be able to keep their creatures off the board. There are a few creatures I still want to try out with the deck.
Piloted it for the first time at FNM last night. 4-1, lost 4 games the whole night.
Some thoughts: This deck is really weak against fatties with 5 ot more toughness, we hsve no answers. It's also really weak to Elspeth, and Sylvan Carytid (sp?) really slows us down. Basically, the whole night I was wishing I had Act of Treason effect and Anger of tje Gods in the sb, as both solve this decks main weaknesses. What do you think of that assessment?
Still using Cujomi's list, but simply took the Valley Dashers out of the sideboard for 3 Act of Treason, best decision made yet with this deck. Went 5-0 and won FNM. Sided in AoT 3 times, only times I didn't was against the mirror (well, a Rabble-based list), and MB Aggro.
Prophetic Flamespeaker continues to impress. He can usually stick around a turn to attack because of how underrated he is.

I've been playing Melissa De Tora's monogreen list for a couple months now, with moderate success, and it's a lot of fun. I was wondering what, if any, updates you would make to this list now that DGM is out? Thanks!

Honestly totally forgot about SotL. Good card in the sideboard against control for sure, absolutely hoses Cruise.

I love it. I haven't played Standard since Theros came out, but I just ordered this whole deck on TCG Player (minus the mountains).
45 bucks, definitely counts as budget. Can't wait to take it to FNM next week! I love underrated cards like Flamespeaker.
