    Hey everyone,

Putting my pauper cube back together after a long hiatus is the world of "regular" unpowered cubing, which was fun, but had no where near the lovely randomness and skill required to draft pauper consistently well (IMHO).

Anyway, like I said I am rebuilding my pauper cube and will be updating it for the first time since Khans block. One thing I used to get asked alot was my opinion on the power level of the RAV bounce lands. Obviously great card advantage and solid mana fixing... But are they too good? I would love to hear your experiences and thoughts.

Since I don't have a current list yet for the signature panel just a few details:

Final cube number will fall at around 360. I always liked to keep my cube tight but now I am thinking on running 380-400 count to give some more randomness to the cube.
Cube will be colour balanced and will include commons that have only been printed online - like Battle Screech.
Yes, I DO run Maze of Ith. I love the quirkiness of it being printed at C1 in The Dark, and since my cube games usually involve more beers than competition it fits with my group well. However I will not fall into the very strange - again IMO - trend popping up with Mishra's Factory and Strip Mine in pauper cubes. Clearly uncommon and quick frankly Mine is a hoser that ruins the fun times and Factory just seems absolutely bonkers.

    Thanks everyone.

So here is a picture of what I am thinking right now.

This gives me plenty of beats and tons of ways to grow Champion of the Parish. Eternal Witness lets me recycle either CC or a Chord of Calling post board if I need something for a particular match up. Having mainboard access to Spellskite is actually pretty relevant in my meta with lots of Burn and Infect floating around.

Are the Dromoka's Commands bringing anything to the party or am I just trying to get to fancy?

I am really excited about this deck, and any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'll give you some based on the two other CC decks that I've seen (Melira and Elves).

    1) Play mana dorks. They help you get that turn 3 CC. Avacyn's Pilgrim and Noble Hierarch are both Humans, and generate colors that you'll be using to boot.
    2) Play Eternal Witness. It lets you chain CCs. And it's a Human!
    3) Play high-impact 3-drops to make your CC flips stronger. Melira has the combo and Elves has Ezuri + Archdruid, but I'm not sure what Humans has to offer in terms of combo kills. On the "dumb beaters" side, you have Blade Splicer, Mirran Crusader and Knight of the Reliquary - the latter two are stronger than Champion of Lambholt and Silverblade Paladin. Splicer increases in value if you have ways to blink it (Flickerwisp, Restoration Angel).
    4) Consider Chord of Calling and 1-of Spellskite and Scavenging Ooze. Melira and Elves both play this tutor package. Chord also lets you fit random bullets like Burrenton Forge-Tender in your SB.

Soldier of the Pantheon would be my first choice for a cut, it doesn't do much if you flip it off a CC on turn 3 or 4.

Thanks so much for the input. I agree with Soldier of the Pantheon being the first cut and I'll look at testing Knight of the Reliquary in the spot of Silverblade Paladin. This came up in the discussion at my LGS today and I thought I would run 8 fetches instead of 4 to give the Knight some more chops. The Champion of Lambholt spot will become Noble Heirarch - or rather it will when I get three more - Pilgrim will fill in for now.

Any thoughts on a good land count with running 4 dorks? I would use the free slots for a tutor package which I really like.

Yeah, I think Avacyn's Pilgrim was in the original list I saw, in place of Champion of Lambholt. I do like the Command option over the Growth's for the flexibility it could bring.

As far as the Multavault option I like it. Works well with the Mayors, but I still think Tec Edge is a better choice for my meta. There are a ton of U/W/x decks running around with Colonnade as the win con.

I saw a rough decklist for this idea in a FB group, and I ran with it. I have made a few slight changes, but I have some questions so I thought I would throw the list out to the community & see what everyone thinks.

Please be honest with your opinions & suggestions. I played Naya Humans at GP Montreal a few years back and it still stands as the most fun I have ever had playing Magic. I'm worried I am being a bit biased with this deck based on the similar human theme.

    The Company of Men

I like Champion of Lambholt - it's always been a pet card of mine - but I am wondering if Avacyn's Pilgrim might be a better choice to power into the Collected Company as fast as possible. My meta is really clogged with Infect & Burn which I think this would match up with fairly well, although I would have to find some SB options for burn. Twin is also really popular but a few Torpor Orbs or Hushwing Gryffs should take card of that.

I am really excited about this deck, and any suggestions would be appreciated. I am working on a sideboard now, which is situational for me meta of course, but I will post it shortly.

    Thanks.

I have been using it for a year now and it's a great way to pick up hard to find or high value cards that aren't available in your area - especially if you have a small playgroup or live in a small city (like I do).

I am currently contructing a modern age cube that will encompass 8th edition forward as well as some cards from Conspiracy (Dack, etc) and the CMDR precons (Titania, etc). I want the cube to have a "modern age of Magic" feel, rather than a strict modern cube that tries to mimic drafting a variation of the current Modern environment.

In this cube I want to experiment with, and include where I can mechanics from the newer sets that have made for interesting matches in both the Standard & Modern environments. IMO Devotion is a great example of this. It can be very powerful if built properly, and especially in blue can have big end game payoffs - thinking big Master of Waves finisher or using Nyxthos, Shrine to Nyx for a big Condescend blowout.

I like Thassa for her reasonable mana cost, and her ability to A) sculpt your hand with Scry, and B) provide evasion for end game finishers. I'm giving her a try but am of course open to opinions from this community & my playgroup.

My question tonight is "can infect be supported in a 450 Peasant Cube?"

I am currently switching up my 450 Pauper Cube to a 450 Peasant Cube as I want to give my friends access to stronger archetypes and (in some cases) more powerful cards. I am thinking of adding cards to support infect in the cube. We currently do not have a peasant cube in our meta and without experience in the format, I am worried that infect will be either A) to hard to draft effectively or B) to overpowered if a drafter can assemble the pieces.

I am considering, Berserk, Blighted Agent, Glistener Elf, Grafted Exoskeleton, Become Immense, Ichorclaw Myr and the usual green pumps in the cube.

Can someone give me some real world experience with this archetype in Peasant? Any help is welcome.

    Thanks.

    Good day forum goers!

I am almost exclusively a Commander player with the exception of a little cubing & legacy in the form of Death & Taxes. I love the CMDR format above all and am looking to expand on my games by constructing a Commander Cube with a 1v1 focus.

I currently have been designing and maintaining a pauper cube for about a year. You can find it here. I really enjoying cubing and have one of two cubes (the other is eternal, non-powered) in my playgroup. I am finding that while I often get positive feedback on my cube, people generally prefer cubing with the more explosive uncommon & rare cards found in my buddies cube. Due to my love of Commander I was thinking of changing up my pauper cube for an eternal non-powered CMDR cube with a 1v1 focus.

It would run like a standard CMDR cube with each person drafting packs with Commanders at first, and then drafting their deck as per usual after that. I am hoping this style of cube will serve my love of Commander, and make the games more powerful and dynamic for my friends.

Does anyone out there have experience with this style of cube, or CMDR cubes in general. Many of us already play multiplayer CMDR & we often play for a prize pool of packs or singles when we cube so I think 1v1 is the best way to go. It also gives me a chance to build with some of the more 1v1 focused commanders, as I myself usually play multiplayer, and have few chances to play cards like Geist of Saint Traft or Isamaru, Hound of Konda.

I'd like to echo that, I'm most often not having fun from the way people behave in the game, rather than what they're doing.

I am really lucky to have a great playgroup, but yes, sometimes after a bad day or something like mana screw people can get salty. It's more about how they act than the cards they play.

You can never go wrong with a nice alter! One of the best ways to personalize you deck.

I know a lot of people are saying Tooth and Nail & Prophet of Kruphix but I have to go very basic and say Deadeye Navigator. You can plan for just about anything, and packing proper removal can deal with most situations, but anyone casts this jerk with just a little mana open he's just about unkillable and I don't currently have a deck where something like Word of Seizing deserves a slot.

If it's multiplayer? Not a chance -- never cross multi-man games with cash on the line. Anyone with half a brain knows this.

If it's 1v1? Sure -- I'd bring Edric, Spymaster of Trest to that (no reason to bring anything other than Edric).

Hope any LGS would be smart enough to use the Duel-Commander ruleset if these are to be 1v1.

    THIS.

Multiplayer pods are just to crazy and are - IMO - best left to casual fun games for bragging rights or laughs. My local meta has a very strong Tuesday night CMDR night but it really leans towards the casual side. I would love to have an outlet to break out my Isamaru, Hound of Konda 1v1 deck. Maybe the odd 1v1 CMDR FNM is the place for that.
