What about giving players additional resources during turns? Such as allowing players to draw one card, add one colorless mana, add one mana of any color, at any time?
We need to stop discussing prices, they have no effect on the banned list.
I think that post above you makes a good argument for why price should affect the banned list, but it also makes an assumption that cards can be too expensive or difficult to reprint.
This talk of Zurs now is nothing more than the discussion coming full circle to a sentiment that's been voiced over and over again in the last 200 pages or so: There's nothing in the shell currently to deal with opponents in top-deck mode because every discard piece is sorcery speed. It's why cards like Funeral Charm and Piracy Charm kept coming up.
How effective do you think resource denial would be at deadening their topdecks? Something like death cloud?
If this, the Wedge set, quite possibly the only Wedge set we'll get for some time, didn't have a mechanic that worked in the WBG deck only, people would be furious. Hell, people were mad when they looked at Naya and didn't see the "mechanic" at all.
...
It would be like if Esper got all those Artifact Matters cards, but the artifacts were all colors, as opposed to fitting within the Shard. And I'm noting Esper because it serves as another point. If the WGB wedge became Fortifications, and they had to make it unique and therefore made colored artifacts, it might start treading on Esper's toes in the eyes of the public.
Yeah. I think M16 has some potential.
I was thinking they could print an artifact heavy set, with a mix of generic artifacts and esper friendly ones. This is why I mentioned the core set in the earlier post, they may be printing more generic stuff in block and we might see better support for different concepts because of that.
Innistrad is also an example, black didn't have miracles.
I will say that Fortify still wouldn't work for Abzan, due to the fact that it's Equipment, and therefore Artifacts, and subsequently, is supposed to be for All Decks, not GWB decks only.
I would like to see more asymmetry and fewer cycles. Perhaps with the absence of the core set we will see a bit more design space within each block?
For the Contamination list, does bloodghast have a place there, perhaps in SB, or is he an upgrade to something? I have a set and will trade him away if not.
Spooky, I've been mulling over the UB nivmagus deck above, and I find myself questioning the black splash. I like t1 black mana, but I'm not sold on death's shadow, and I don't know what else might fit instead of it.
How problematic is the life loss? The phyrexian spells and nivmagus go together, and from there it's easy to include death's shadow, but did you consider any alternatives to it?
How do you think the list would run as a monoblue or mostlyblue? Is being able to t1 duress extremely good here?
Thanks again, the lists do look great, I'm just toying with ideas.
edit, did you find anything interesting with Death Cloud? The modern decks are playing it with planeswalkers, which isn't too interesting for me.
Are there better options than the Snuff Out, if I'm not running the Watery Graves? If I am running the graves, should I just run three and replace three islands?
Over the past days I've also been thinking about land destruction. Does Death Cloud see play? And I was also curious about Maralen of the Mornsong, does black have enough disruption to use her to lock up the game? . . . Do those two cards make you want to build a deck?
A u/b deck with Nivmagus is certainly possible. Darkslick shores is a great budget land, but I would stay away from gemstone mine and river of tears. What kind of budget did your have? $100, $200? More?
I think a mono black control variant that does not include the rack or sorin is possible, did you want me to delve deeper into that?
Thoughtpicker Witch is a pretty bad card, I can't think of anything it can do that something else can't do better.
I'd like to start with a $100 niv list.
Then work my way towards a $200 black control list, preferably with ridiculous art and mechanics. I always gravitate to the black cards.

Looks like people are trying to brew another discard deck.

Can you comment further on this? I don't see the connection.
I found a couple lists, your UR one is quoted in the post I'm linking, and the actual post has a monoblue list.

Maybe you need to click the blue spoiler buttons.
Maybe you can just link search results

And, any alternatives to Hurkyl's Recall?edit, hurkyl's is a bit cheaper for the older version, about $4 vs $9
