Can't say enough how much fun I had; I usually hate sealed but last night was just amazing. So many cards are playable, and the bombs (excepting certain things like avacyn, sorin, and startled awake) seem less impactful than in previous formats because all the commons and uncommons just do more, making the format feel way less random on "who opened the best mythic".
I tested against another Mastery of the Unseen deck that was GW, and it was very difficult. Neither of our board states really went anywhere. I feel like there needs to be something else for that kind of match where life totals don't matter. Altar of the Brood perhaps?
If you're getting into stalemates maybe a end of opponents turn Icy Blast? You can trigger the ferocious easy.
I may have miss-understood the "Neither of our board states really went anywhere" though. lol.
But seems like a solid card in a spot where no one's really making any moves.
I'd rather use glimpse the sun god over icy blast, simply because you can do it off nykthos + 2 plains. The ferocious clause could come into play sometimes, but you only want it to alpha anyway.
One thing that has to be pointed out is that sulfuric vortex is not modern legal. It's been printed new bordered a couple times, but only in supplemental products.
Thoughtseize is always good to have if you're playing black.
If theros block wasn't so "meh" for the most part, it might have done better. I know a whole one person out of my playgroup that can stand drafting the format. M15, OTOH, is spectacular, and should sell far better than its predecessors.
In all honesty, I don't think that the counterfeiting was that big of a deal. Sure, if I made a trade/purchase thinking it was the real thing and it turned out to be a fake, I'd be pissed. However, considering the price point to get into the non-rotating formats, I really can't blame someone for wanting to pick up a set of fake goyfs and fetches just so they are able to play. It *IS* a game, remember? Where's the fun in "forcing" someone to "pay their dues" and drop a grand+ just to play the preferred deck because speculators and people who play magic like it's the stock market drive the price up to ridiculous heights? It's not like wizards cares enough about the formats to actually print products to reduce those prices. Printing a single eternal staple every 6 months doesn't count when there are so many with insane prices. Not to mention they're going to kill legacy (eventually) themselves if they don't get rid of the reserved list.
Ok, so we saw darksteel cit and like, sure, thats interesting...now we get tomb and hey, they already have the soul cycle of 5+1, why not the lands? Thinking valakut will com in red, but not sure for the other 3. Ideas?
