How are control players supposed to deal with him, especially with his planeswalker version out at the same time? Board wipes won't do anything, and satyr tokens come out as a 4/4 in your face every turn. Detention sphere just got a very playable answer in Unravel the Aether.
Question: Does Savage Summoning protect him if you don't have enough devotion to make him a creature?
Control players have enchantment removal, and no Savage Summoning doesn't work unless he is a creature.
This card really isn't control hate, control plays counter-spells, and Hexproof doesn't do sh*t about counters. It isn't like control is failing, bant control and esper are still a thing, and will continue to be. Although control is boring to play against, and even more boring to play... Delver when it was in standard is the only control deck I ever enjoyed.
Nobody saw Boros reckoner coming when GTC came out, but that was GTC. DGM I can say only has a few even remotely playable cards in it, but I could in fact be very wrong. For all I know opal lake gatekeepers could see play
