i see your point, sir. right now i think bloodrush could be good against another aggro deck, but against control, i imagine they'll wait for you to bloodrush, then bounce via unsummon, azorious charm, cyclonic rift, etc.

Which are all situations having a standard Pump instant (Giant's Growth and all like it) wouldn't actually be better, as they can Unsummon et al there too.

i couldn't care less about chapin's thumbs. of course it's a solid creature, but with huntmaster and hellrider at the same cmc i'm not sure if he'll see much play outside of block constructed. maybe once innistrad rotates. i guess you auto include him for the bloodrush, but i wonder if it would be worth it....

In a deck that's planning to be more offense than defense, I'd count him as the +4/+4 for 2 that just happens to be playable with a body. But I'd rather have the options of 'creature or pump offense' over 'pump offense or defense'.

Well, so far with the current spoiler level the rest of its color combo stays within the realm of this ramp. Lazav and Whispering Madness match it at CMC 4, which would both be worth play alongside it for one reason or another. (The trio there combo well together. You know when to ping in with an encoded Madness based on what you know of their hand. And Lazav takes the body of whatever biggest threat you just knocked out.) If you cap your deck at CMC 4, these three make a great set to work with.

Hands of Binding and Dimir Charm are low cost but effective with Seer. Binding encodes and helps you lock out bigger threats on the table, Charm either lets you manipulate the top of their deck (fair use), or if they are running high sorcery low creature you can hold it for its Counterspell. Gridlock and Rapid Hybridization both come in at 1 damage for you but allow you a lot of room to work, and the latter card puts a threatening opposing creature out of reach of taking out Seer.

I mentioned in the announce thread Seer pairs well with Overload cards, which have a hand in Blue. I dunno if UBR works in practice, but it gives more options of low CMC toys that do big things. Just having access to Cyclonic Rift's level of field dispersal without worrying about a 7 CMC burn on your life is nice.

So now I'm throwing away 3 cards to make one good? Not even going to mention that you can't Thought Scour away the AoS after it has been revealed to Duskmantle Seer, as Seer is now resolving.

Standard has more than a few discards in Black to use in place of Scour. None exactly even out card advantage wise, yes, but taking out the rather useless timing on Dimir Charm there (I'd save it for whatever X cost sorcery they are playing) it isn't a bad plan. The offset of advantage for the lifecost they'd take on a high CMC card and loss of said card from a Duress or Appetite for Brains.

Also, this is a set with Dimir, I expect some more discard effects to be a certainty before we're done.

At least in Standard we've gotten a lot of useful low CMC Blue supports (Blue Overloads in RTR mean Cyclonic Rift and Blustersquall, Syncopate, Index could find a home here scripting your draws so the higher cost things are on your draw, and lower costs are on your upkeep) to help make Seer a bit more effective.

Whispering Madness is another CMC4, but if you encode it onto Dimi Keyrune for safekeeping, then swing with it on any draws of extra problem? Not saying that Seer will completely reconfigure a Top 8, but it isn't without its toys.
