I'm just venting, not looking for much more.

Basically the story is that I have been saving up and investing in legacy miracles for a while. I had finally saved up enough to buy two revised Tundra's off of Ebay from a reputable seller for a good price, 130 each. Sure enough it gets lost in the mail. Tracking has been stuck on "accepted" for a week now. The seller has been very responsive working with me to try to track the package down and I know I'm covered by ebay buyer protection, and he has all the insurance info through USPS to get a refund. Just sucks for this to be the only lost cards in the mail over the hundreds I've probably ordered over the years.

    Venting over.

    thanks.

if its almost a hard counter in modern, its certainly nearly a hard counter in legacy. Should totally see more play. Idunno in what though, but it should.

Counterspell already sees limited play so I'm not sure how many decks would want to run this card.

of for sure. Just a card that is legit in how good it is, I'm just surprised it doesnt pop-up at least every once in a while.

I would stick with the advice of trying to stay in the vicinity of decks that use cards in reanimator. For example, I love playing UWR decks. ATM its miracles, and ill probably be playing that for quite a while. But going into a blue white delver variant, or some kind of stoneforge UWR brew would be pretty easy and not a huge jump.

I try to stick to the philosophy of investing in a general archetype or "wedge" if you will, that I really enjoy playing. so you can jump around if you want within those colors with minimal cost.

I just bought 2 NM copies off ebay for 85 each. The price is pretty reasonable now. Looking for a third and I probably wont be willing to spend more than 80-90 as there seem to be a bunch floating around at that price.

So I've been bitten by the legacy bug hard core and have been building miracles. I still need a bunch of cards, and have had thoughts of selling off some pieces of my modern UWR control to help pay for it which has been gathering dust lately.

I'm also moving to North Carolina where it seems as if the modern scene is small to none and the legacy scene is huge.

Here is what I would sell off:

    4 Celestial Colonnade
    2 Cryptic Command
    4 Remand
    4 path to exile?
Bunch of RTR duals like steam vents and hallowed fountain.

    thoughts?

Yah, do people also run a Humility in the SB along with the BloodMoon and E-tutor? As many of my SB hate cards are either enchantments or artifacts I feel like adding the tutor would help significantly.

Also, been thinking about either a MD or SB detention sphere..thoughts?

I find this an interesting thought:

Take for a second the most expensive legacy deck, without doing any research I think I'm pretty safe in saying its lands, fetches duals, tabernacle, port, wastes, etc. In the 3,000 - 4,000 range? Obviously without pimping it or w/e.

Its interesting that within the magic community this is an insane cost, lots of talk about prices, reprints etc. But in the context of some other hobby's, lets take skiing, or biking, or even playing an instrument. that price is right in the middle of the field in terms of price, and it most likely gives you a great return on your investment! Magic seems to be a community of its on when it comes to price perspective, vs when I go skiing magic is really cheap! Yea the initial investment is steep, but 90% of my play time is free to very cheap, and they never wear out, and I can cash them in if I want. Try cashing in old ski's or a bike, the value depreciation is absolutely horrible.

Not a criticism, just an observation. Take it as you wish.

I've been going with a 2md supreme verdict, 1 sb wrath and 1 sb hallowed burial and been liking it a lot. Took out the anger, as the double red was hard to get, and also pod isnt that present in my meta surprisingly. If I start seeing more pod would probably go with a md anger instead.

Yeah I think my budget list main deck is going to look like:

    4 Tarns
    4 Mesas
    2 Hollowed fountain
    1 Steam Vents
    3 Plains
    5 Island
    1 Mountain
    2 Mystic Gate

    4 Ponder
    4 Brainstorm
    4 Top
    4 Counterbalance
    3 Counterspell
    3 Spell pierce
    4 Swords to Plowshares
    4 Terminus
    2 Entreat the Angels
    1 spell snare

    2 Jace

    4 Snapcaster

With the goal of getting Fow, Tundra, and pleateau, in that order, after this list is assembled. All I need though outside of the cheap cards, are the jaces!

    part sideboard being

    4 red blast
    2 supreme verdict
    2 needle
    2 rip
    1 grafdiggers
    2 wear tear
    2 ?? (bloodmoon?)(enlightened tutor?)

Im kinda worried about not having enough 3s for counterbalance without the cliques though...

Where were you able to get Ron Spears to sign your island? They are by far my favorite and I contacted him to sign som and he said he is not accepting via mail at this time.

    Amazing collection btw.

So I'm building this list, somewhat budget, but wondering if a plateau would be a decent budget solution to the volcanic that is usually played. Considering I would be running the 1 mountain, 1 red dual, with just 4 blasts in the board, is this a decent switch?

Also I don't own strands so I'll be using 4 tarns and 4 mesas until more fetch land reprint info is out there.

Sweet, thanks so much for all the feedback guys!

I actually just bought a whole playset of Arid Mesa as I picked them up for 100 total, which was just too good of a deal to pass by.

Now looking for the top's and counterbalances, then Jace, then ill leave the duals for last. What is a solid price on tundra these days? I've been trying to find a pretty used one or under $150.

Im 26, started playing 2-3 years ago, finishing my PhD in psychology, absolutely love playing.

They are correct about it having some stigma, my friends who don't play surely make jabs at me, but its understandable give the stigma that most TCG's have. All my friends who I play with are 25-30 year old professionals, its a great way for us to blow off some steam on a Saturday night with a couple of beers.

In a way, I think playing magic has brought me back in connection with a huge part of my childhood that I had lost for many years exactly because of that stigma that games like magic have. Its become something that I cherish and can use in my professional life to better connect with my younger clients, and something I hope to use to connect and relate to my children with. It also really gives me some insight into the world that so many of my younger clients who struggle with bullying/socializing/creating relationships have, the stigma they feel, and how they try to solve that by putting some lubrication (i.e. tcg's or video games) between them and making friends

Play on, but maybe it would be helpful for you to contextualize your playing for your parents, i.e. explain to them why; its intellectually satisfying, good time with friends, provides a little "staycation" from stress and life, etc.

No different from playing golf, Its just way less boring!
