Maybe consider replacing the Tormented Heros with something else? The chances of getting off a turn 1 Hero -> turn 2 Precinct captain are incredibly low, based on your mana base, so you should probably try to account for that. In fact, your chances of a turn 1 hero are pretty low by themselves. With a 1/10 chance to start with a godless shrine or a swamp, it might be better to consider a different card. On top of that, you're not really getting any extra effect out of it. It's a 2/1 that can't block the turn it comes down. I'm not sure what you could replace it with, if you want it to be a 1 drop (the only other 1 drop white humans I can find are Nyxborn Shieldmate, Soulmender, and Favored Hoplite, which would have 1/2 of the same problems that Hero has :P).
2 Mana Confluence and switching the Precinct Captains for Daring Skyjeks could smooth out the mana base
Bingo. Turn 1 Mystic (or other 1 drop mana dork that could still show up in Theros), Turn 2 BTE or Kalonian Tusker (with Ranger's Guile mana up if you're scared about removal), Turn 3 Reverent Hunter. That's 9 power right there with minimal investment. 11 if you manage to draw an extra BTE. I'm not sure if he's specifically "win more", but he does have potential to be quite large. But since you only need him to have 5 or 6 power in the early game, you'll be sitting pretty once he sticks. All things considered, I like it.
I would rather play another kalonian tusker than the hunter. Tusker cant die to 1 shock or magama jet. Other better options are Deadbridge Goliath (if you have a mana dork) and other more consitent 4 drops, Loxodon smiter, Witchstalker, Renegade Krasis.
Why is he contradicting himself? It enters as a 1/1 and then it gets at least one counter from the trigger. You can still Zap it in response though.
Cause he corrected me that it was triggered, which I re-read and agreed with. But then he says its a 2/2 at minimum, which it obviously isn't since it is triggered. If you play control, nuisances like that are very important. Plus, now, I am just giving him a hard time
Well you can also use it for cards like reckoner, which would make way way harder to deal with. Using gift on anything (assuming it sticks) requires an opponent to have 2 removal spells to kill it. And if they can only deal with cards like that through blocking (really looks like there might be a mono green deck), it's impossible for them to kill. It would be pretty nasty to suit up a reckoner with this.
Oh yeah, definitely an awesome combo right there. An amazing wall. Or even to plunge into an opponent with a huge board state. Fits nicely into a control deck and WR burn.
Reverent Hunter isn't that impressive. I doubt it sees much play, maybe a little bit. It relies too heavily on your other permanents, and since it's green that means it relies too heavily on your creatures sticking.
Gift of Immortality is pretty good though. It might cost too much to see play, but if this sticks, good luck ever killing what it's attached to. You pretty much have to be playing white to deal with it (there might be other exile effects, in colors besides white, but I'm not checking).
I'll probably try out gift in a white weenie build.
It does make it seem like there will be alot of exile effects though (at least more than usual) since I'd be completely surprised if this doesn't find a home.
Agreed. The hunter is just bad. Most of the time, he will just be a 1/1 - 3/3. If you are sticking that many dudes, you're probably just wining already.
I don't see Gift for weenie decks though. I think its a good way to protect your big dudes, like Archangel of Thune. But a very mana intensive way of doing it. Like in a Azorious Control deck.
I think Temur is going to be fight, loot, hexproof.

Yes, they said that scene was a flashback during the panel.

But not in standard
Izzet Staticaster would disagree.

You just proved my point. Gosh. I can burn him in response, duh.
You're contradicting yourself now. You say its a triggered ability and then you say its not. Pick one.
