Why couldn't this be a bear. 2/2 for 2 with this would be so much more usable, making it a 1/1 for one would just make it make better then Llanowar elves in everything but tribal, and I don't know how I feel about that, a 2/2 would still be incredibly fragile, but it would still live through more then it would as 1/1. I love the card though, even if it is more fragile.

Quick question, does the each part of this damage clause affect how it would interact with Planeswalkers? Can i still redirect to them?

In all honesty, I think we're pretty good against the deck as it stands. I went against 2 different Aristocrats decks tonight and cleaned them both out 2-0. To be fair, I didn't see Cartel aristocrat at all (That thing is a pain), but really you can treat them like a slower aggro build and try to disrupt their synergies. Playing a Thragtusk early and recurring/flickering it can be back-breaking game 1 and it can turn it into a race in your favor. Side in Abrupt Decay from the board if you got it. It kills almost everything they care about. I also brought in Silklash Spider, I was testing it to see how good it would be in the mirror and was rather surprised to see it doom a lot of souls in game 2. Didn't really like it though. Takes 8 to wrath them the turn he comes down, and every turn they have them is bad and they need a more immediate answer. In all honesty though, Abrupt decay is the removal of choice for me for early problems. Keep them off their synergies.

I see this being rather powerful.

    1) You don't lose an absurd amount of tempo when you plop this down on the field thanks to the anthem effect. That plus the mass blink could make this a potential house in a boros aggro strategy.

    2) A mass blink effect for cheap is a horrifying prospect for any deck that runs a lot of ETB effects. Thragtusk, resto angel, augur of bolas, snapcaster, centaur healer (Maybe a play toy for wolf run bant?), Thundermaw, Zealous, and any other good resto target.

I think my jaw dropped when I saw that it was common. This was the card they needed to make Izzet a more playable draft option in RtR. That said, I think this thing could potentially break drafts and sealed. playing 2 instants or sorceries during your turn gives you a 7/4 for 3. That's just insane. Defender really isn't even an issue. It's just a nice keyword to give more synergy to other defender strategies. I like this card, I like it a lot. Smile

Wait wait wait wait wait wait, do my eyes deceive me, or is this playable, universal, targeted removal in standard at 2. OH FRABJOUS DAY!

Early, this is always gonna hit for 5 or 6, so it's gonna kill something early. Late, the decks that would want this have a grip full of cards. This is good removal for control decks. I look forward to seeing it in play.

I REALLY wish that the baron was a 4 drop. In these colors, I would rather cast Obzedat at 5. I'm sorry but when your competition is that its kinda hard to stand on your own. That said, it shares Ghost Dads resiliance. It's above most red removal (Shout out to mizzium mortars, it's a still a pain), and shuts out most of the other removal in the set. The add on is completely unneeded. If you're at 30+ and they are at 10-, unless you're playing Esper, you don't really need the buff. It's a powerful card in it's own right, disregard the buff.

At three, it's a worse fencing ace.

At four, it's a worse Hound of Griselbrand.

At five, It's Wrecking Ogre without Bloodrush.

The mana sink to add more +1/+1 counters is cool and all, but in all honesty I don't see this seeing play in standard, dumping mana into something so fragile doesn't sound tempting. It's looks like a pretty fun card for EDH and other casual formats though.

Been testing him out, he runs well as a 1 of in the sideboard to deal with planeswalker heavy decks. Garruk, Sorin, and Tamiro are the front running targets. I'm thinking it'd be good against bant midrange builds, some esper builds, superfriends, and a couple junk builds.

This will definitely need a lot of playtesting to find a home. I know it will cause the card is freaking insane, but it needs to be built around something fierce. YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR OPPONENT TO GET THAT MUCH MANA. They will utilize it to it's fullest before killing it. The deck would need flash shenanigans, a way to win, and a way to kill it when your done. The card has potential, but WotC did really good at balancing it by making it a big hug card.

I for one wouldn't be opposed to it. Outside of deathrite (And even then, only in certain decks), just about ALL of the decent ramp spells and good 1 drop dorks rotate out of standard come October. I would like some kind of dork in M14 or DGM. I would love a card that taps for a different color then what you use to play it (Avacyn's pilgrim as an example). I don't want birds in this meta. It would be WAAAAY to good with what we got now.

I see this doing best in a deck that plays from the grave, but not reanimating into something huge. I'm very interested in putting him, Lotleth Troll, and Varold, the Scar-Stripped into a B/G zombie shell with all the zombie favs from Innistrad. Could be an interesting deck.

Am i the only one that thinks a lot of people are being really whiny. 2/2 for 2 that dislikes flash plays, just play around it until you can deal with it. Isn't that what control is supposed to do. If they play it early, renounce the guilds would work as removal unless their one drop was a hybrid. The tokens are semi annoying but, if they play more into the board to make it bigger they play into wraths, and if they get to unruly, send them to detention.

Forbidden Alchemy, Faithless Looting, and Izzet Charm all have pitch options within two colors, I'm thinkin WRBU with walkers, control cards, and Omniscience.

Anyone else super psyched to try Valroz in the Junk Rites build? It gives the deck even more resistance to wrath, gives it a solid sac outlet, and turns every creature in your grave into a potential power up. Running with lol troll keeps him from clogging your hand in multiples, and you can buy it back with Angel of serenity if you need to.

I'm really excited about all of the spoilers tonight cause they look like they're all gonna be awesome to play test with.

What's up with all the thrag hate? I like playing something that isn't aggro and is a creature deck, thank you very much. That said, I would like decent removal. Go for the throat, doom blade, bolt, I would love for standard to have decent removal again. I don't wanna see
