But the block was racist: In Kamigawa, ALL the foxes are white. ALL the rats are Black, ALL the snakes are green, ALL the moonfolk were blue, and ALL the goblins were red!
So it's racist against fictional creatures and wildlife?
The block was racist. Straight up, in many cases, obviously so.
It overplayed asian stereotypes, and many people felt like it was poking fun at asian culture. Along with the unpronounceable names, the block encouraged more racist discussions at draft tables/LGSs then any other magic block I have ever drafted, not close. My LGS store owner had to tell people to tone it down multiple times throughout this block because the discussions got so bad.
So the cards were racist because some of the people playing the game were racist? And what Asian stereotypes or aspects of Asian culture were being made fun of? Ninjas and samurai were prominent and celebrated in the block, not lampooned. And those are aspects of Japanese culture that are still popular and celebrated to this day. So where id the racism? Unpronounceable names? How is that unique to Kamigawa? And how is it racist? Are Tolkien novels racist to Nordic and Celtic culture because the names in his novels are unpronounceable?
Seriously, calling that black racist is objectively stupid.
Dominaria. But I want each set to reboot Arabian Nights, Antiquities, and Legends. I'm not asking for reprints, but a revisitation of the first 3 expansions.
Nostalgia overload.
Arabian Nights isn't set on Dominaria. It's based on actual literature and is,essentially, set on a fantastical version of Earth.
I don't really want a huge cataclysmic storyline with lots of famous people. I just want to see the various cultures, traditions, magical practices and locations of that Dominarian type of fantasy realm participating in day to day trials of common life.
A block set on a new continent of Dominaria that was untouched by the invasion and the Mirari could fit the bill. But so could a return to Lorwyn.
Wow, Dominaria is the overwhelming favorite. It's good to see newer players can appreciate the older sets. Of course, old fogeys like me who have been around since before Dominaria know that home is where the heart is.
I would also love to go back to Dominaria. The Onslaught block was the last time we saw Dominaria, correct? A whole lot could have happened since then. I love elves, Avens, Kavu and slivers and having them in one set/block is great.
...but I want to revisit Lorwyn more than anything. I love the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor block/s SOOOO much.
I'm sure some of us just want new planes to visit, but surely everyone has a plane that is near and dear to their heart? Or maybe there's a plane that you just feel was interesting enough to warrant a revisit?
Any plane, what would it be and why?
Hypersonic Dragon+Niv-Mizzet+Stolen Identity seems like a great combo to me. You can potentially have 4 Hypersonic Drakes and Niv-Mizzet attacking on turn 7 after dealing 3 damage directly and drawing 3 cards.
Wait... I just figured out the weird wording of Stolen Idenity's Cipher mechanic...
So you're calling me racist? How mature.

Did I mention how this is objectively stupid?

You're right. For some reason that didn't occur to me. Crazy. A w/b deck in standard using this combo will surely be a threat to most decks.
Yeah, even if you deal 1 damage you win the game.
I don't watch anime but I still thought it was a fun and interesting block. Do you think maybe you're imposing your opinion on everyone else?
That's stupid. Seriously frakkin' stupid.
Yeah, that's a game-winning combo right there. Holy crap.
