Well thank goodness I already knew about the leak and was making allusions to it, otherwise that would have been an unwelcome spoiler about a set still months away from preview. Slant I've been avoiding the leak itself because I enjoy preview season and don't want the excitement ruined. I have a vague knowledge about what's coming in Ixalan already and would rather hold off on discussing it openly until closer to release. So for now, crazy things like monowhite Vampires and monogreen Merfolk are theoretical as far as my comments are concerned.

The fourth face card clearly looks UB, but whether Rogue or Wizard is hard to say. Rogues could use the support more than Wizards, but Wizards do have popularity.

One thing I like about the tribal theme is that they still have plenty left for future Commander products. I wouldn't mind some more cohesive themes in the future, like animals or classes.

But if you're going to engage in discussions about future products then your position is unreasonable. If you want to avoid the leak then you have to actually, ya know, avoid the leak. No one else is treating the leak a disease to be quarantined to a single thread and MTG spoilers are nothing like movie/TV spoilers.

I really hope we get 3 large sets for this block and they go ham on the creature types and everything. Fingers crossed for a legendary Kavu and tribal support!

Just think, all of the old creature abilities...Shadow! a legendary creature with shadow..I want it!

    Flashback, Threshold, Madness?

Dare I speak of making your opponents discard cards at random? Hymn to Tourach or Stupor style cards? Yes please!

I do have a lot of nostalgia for Shadow because that was the time when I first started buying my own Magic cards with my own money(my allowance, for doing chores). I bought so many booster packs from that block and tried so hard to make a Shadow deck to beat my brother and cousins.

The default planeswalker number for any given block is 5 (for developmental reasons), last block we had 4, so there was only room for one more, development's condition for it to be printed at all was that it should be something narrow enough so it wouldn't cause developmental problems, all of the abilities make sense being UG, UW or Bant, her flavor too, so they choose to make it bant in order for development to even let it through.

Really? Her -2 is just freezing(not detain), which is mono U, the +1 has no precedent that I'm aware of in UG, WU, or WUG, and the ult is either mono U or UR. And as far as flavor, that doesn't fit either. She's pretty detached and apathetic during the entire madness shift, remaining an observer until Jace forces her hand. That's not W G. A WUG character would have intervened to stop what was happening. White is about order, and could not abide the sort of chaos Emrakul brings. And Green is about preservation, and could not tolerate Emrakul's twisting of the natural order and life itself.
She's mono U through and through.

You know what could be doubly interesting, and yet extremely unlikely?

"Go to your first tournament, get a <insert new player oriented product> for free!"

Specially if this product actually could not be sold and was only given freely directly by wizards. It would help new players out if it contained something playable and explanatory, as well as encourage casual players to try tournaments. However, having seen the MPR go down, it seems extremely unlikely.

Relegating the intro product to tournaments is like teaching your child to swim by throwing them into the deep end of a volcano. The new players would just get crushed and none of the experienced players would be inclined to teach them because they're too busy playing in the tournament. Who would want to keep playing after an experience like that introduces them to the game?

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I would like to see a "Core Set" that is chock full of simple cards that need reprinting. Simple cards? There are so many cool cards that could come together to make a core set that would be both easy for new players to understand as well as cards that would be fun for older players to see come back, as well as cards that could actually be useful in standard or modern, depending on which set they're reprinted from.

    Cards like

I think this concept, coupled with "core" sets from here on out having a distinct, ongoing story on a single plane(a la Dominaria and the many stories/sets set there) separate from the main stories with maybe 2/3 new cards the rest reprints would be the best way to get new players into the game, make them interested in more than just playing the game(to keep them hooked, like the Pokemon cartoon/manga/etc), and ease them into more competitive play.

Also some tidbits of what Jace saw at the drownyard... once again saying there is another moon. But then again current Jace is clearly losing it so who knows

    Obligatory "That's no moon" ?

For me another clue pointing to eldrazi. They are the only thing that could be that big (real body).

The Eldrazi don't have "real" bodies. They're non-corporeal beings.

Fiveod hit the nail on the head essentially.

Also, for those of you who don't knwo, trigger warnings are meant to be used like an allergy warning label but for mental trauma. They warn people what a particular piece of media contains before they get into it. Warning sexual assault victims of sexual assault being present in the content, warning abuse victims of abuse, and warning those who suffer from epilepsy of a potential epilepsy trigger and so on. You know that scene in a bunch of movies when a character sees something very similar to something horrible they went through and then they have a terrible flashback or break down? That really happens to be people and if you, the person reading this, don't have to deal with that, be thankful. Honestly, if trigger warnings somehow upset you then you really must hate peanut allergy labels and movie ratings for no reason too.

Also, this isn't really the thread for this and this is quite the derailing.

The problem is that 90% of the people being "triggered" are crying wolf. It's so melodramatic and insincere. People have been victims for all of human history, but we're to believe that only now has the other shoe dropped and people simply cannot bear the weight should anything ever upset them? How did anyone function in daily life before "trigger warnings" came to be?

Cute comic. I'd like to see more stuff like this.

I predict someone on this thread complaining that WOTC is being too "PC" by removing the comic. Sad.

Only thing sadder is that some people likely complained that it was insensitive to satisfy their offended requirements for the day. Rolleyes

Where'd you find enough straw for that man?
Just because you don't find something offensive doesn't mean that other people are faking it.

But since when is it an unforgivable sin to offend someone? People are too sensitive these days. A lot of people think they have the right to not be offended by anything ever. It's all "triggered" this and "safe space" that.
