There are a lot worse combat boosting enchantments that see play, and I see GratVio in a lot of combat based red EDH decks.Posted in: Articles

How many instants and sorceries are you running that Oath of Nissa isn't reliably a "G: look at top 3 and draw a card"? It's one mana draw in standard, plus card selection. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Oh yes, we can all guess it. It's been talked to a point that the horse decomposed several months back. During that time the goal posts shifted from "Blue has no representation" to "blue based control has no representation" and then to "blue based control that isn't URW and uses a 4 mana red enchantment isn't seeing play". Because nothing short of an apology hand-delivered by carrier pigeon signed by Mark Rosewater in gold leaf print will satisfy you or Cfusion.
So you spent the last several years complaining about Wizards manipulating the stats to get your favorite obsession banned...
And now you are manipulating the statistics to argue that your favorite obsession was banned unfairly...
Can you at least admit that this has nothing to do with the state of Control in Modern, and entirely that you want your combo deck back so we can move on?
The new C18 structures are notoriously low in value this year, and TCG Player has the findings with the Jund deck already available for $24 unopened, and the Izzet one at $28. Yuriko is the only card above $10. The set dropped a week ago.
This is brutal beyond words right now. I feel bad for local stores.
The newest buy-a-box is currently at $37.25 a piece. Used in a deck? Not really.
What it is... is rare. Exactly as I predicted in this thread, it is the second most expensive card in the entire set all because it is only available as a Buy-a-Box. Welcome to the future of Magic kiddos.
Players want the reserved list gone so that Vintage and Legacy become actual formats again.
The cancerous mass that are speculators and collectors want it to stay because they treat a collectable card game like the stock market at everyone else's expense.
Simple as that.
She's at $18 and climbing on TCG Player, with some sites going as high as $30. I don't think she'll hold that price after release, but her pre-release prices are only going to climb.
For most, maybe. Yuriko's price only continues to go up. She's $18 from Channel Fireball, and as high as $30 from others. I think if you want her low, it's either pre-order, or wait till two months after the set drops when price memory finally lets her fall.
It really isn't. There are 9 reprints in the set currently valued at $3 or higher. That's a record low for EDH Products. Last year? 23. Year before? 30.
Where is the Wurmcoil Engine, Path to Exile, or other decent value reprint? The Jund deck is currently valued at $76 with the pre-order prices. That's 30 dollars less than the lowest valued deck from last year, and 80 lower than the Atraxa deck from two years ago.
Yet it is totally something I could see Hasbro/Wizards doing...
Cats $124.64
Vampires $132.42
Dragons $124.78
Wizards $152.92
2016 Deck Value on release:
Yidris: $113.07
Atraxa: $155.16
Saskia: $106.01
Kynaios: $117.89
Breya: $132.15
2018 Deck Value
U/R: 101.38
Esper: 100.46
Jund: 76.17
Bant: 115.24
This is with inflated pre-order prices. Release prices will likely be 15-20% lower.
This is a bloody disaster.
Jaya isn't THAT bad. She's no all-star, but she is perfectly serviceable.
You pretty much have to use Arcane Adaptation and Xenograft to get maximum value, but her trigger is good enough to try.
Not really this time.
Enchantress's Presence $11
Bear Umbra $10
Entreat the Angels $5
Blasphemous Act $4
Avenger of Zendikar $4
Hydra Omnivore $4
Duplicant $3
Mimic Vat $3
That's every reprint above $3. That's less than any other year of Commander pre-cons, and by a decent margin.
Even C11 had better reprints. Austere Command, Ghostly Prison, Martyr's Bond, Path to Exile, Fact or Fiction (pricy at the time), Propaganda, Windfall (at the time), Attrition, Avatar of Woe (at the time), Grave Pact, Living Death, Red Akroma (at the time), Anger, Insurrection, Ruination, Eternal Witness, Garruk Wildspeaker, Harmonize (at the time)... and that's just the mono-color cards.
I honestly cannot say it this year. These decks are astoundingly bad. There are barely any decent reprints.
This is easily the worst Commander product they have ever released, barring Commander's Arsenal. How did they mess this up?
