Instead of the Flame rifts, I'm using Magma Jet, and cutting the 1 land for a mainboard Searing Blaze. Also, are there sideboards the best sideboards we can use? since their 75 are the same?
Yeah I'm running the primer list -1 Charm +1 Etherwrought Page.
You can switch the EP for Thopter Foundry, it'll work just fine, or you can up the count of something else for consistency in your meta.
My SB is different from the primer, I'll give you the SB list I'm running tomorrow cause I got the list at home and I'm at work now.
Alright, thanks but I just added a 2nd Beast within, apparently I changed something and wasn't aware lol. and could you give me some tips on how to play the deck and how to combat certain things?
I stopped using EE a while ago, its a good card that gets better with recursion, but I found myself dumping it most of the time, thats when Pyrite Spellbomb came in the picture. 2 spellbombs, 3 dispatch, 3 pyroclasm, 2 beast within, 2 pithing needle, shaman rarely represents trouble to this deck.
Would you mind posting the list you're running? so I can give you pointers based on the list.
Also Ancient Grudge comes out of the SB game 2, you can try Surgical Extraction which I run 4 of in the SB for these situations.
Actually, I have a really close taste to your style, so I've been going off your exact list so, it was the one from the Primer, since you said your dropped EE and stuff, could you give me your full decklist? since mine is the one from the primer -EE +Beast Within -charm + Thopter Foundry
It has been the cheapest for some time. Unfortunately the shop that was having Vintage tournaments in my area switched them to Modern tournaments and I haven't played any Vintage for months.
If you look at any deck and they have 2 or less basic lands or all the mox then this deck has a shot against it. That is a lot of Vintage decks. I tend to do well vs. blue control decks (you countered my chalice for 0? Here's a blood moon!) and dredge (They just fold to turn 1 blood moon). It seemed even to bad vs. MUD but Shattering Spree helps. Storm is about even and depends on who plays first and whether you can drop a moon effect before they go off. I haven't played enough fish decks (and they vary a lot) to really know.
Whenever I played TMWA everyone was very interested in the deck and said that it seemed powerful. It did to me too. It is very good at shutting down decks unless they can counter blood moon or magus of the moon.
How does this deck hold up today? I really like mana denial strategies.
Mostly I've been testing Etherwrought Page and I'm loving it, life gain, deck digging or deal damage each turn.
Also switching between:
Sands of Delirium to dump free mana on the late game Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas cause it's been discussed how much it synergizes with the deck Thopter Foundry for a bit of lifegain and free tokens post-lock (draw, attack, play drawn card to reactivate bridge)
Its a free slot on a deck that needs no win cons, so you can test anything you feel like, pick a win con of your choice and give it a try, remember you can dump it early game and recur it back late game to finish. Also, pick something well costed, otherwise your opponent will quit from the lock before you play your trump card.
Okay, I'm going to use Thopter Foundry, since I have a casual infinite turns deck with it so it's sort of a pet. But anyways, I was trying a second EE, since it's sooo freakin' good but I keep running into deathrite shamans and it's really lame not being able to blow up on 1, but I have been playing all my games out and winning by mill. Which reminds me, what are you supposed to do about Ancient Grudge? because I keep running into those game after game :/
Yeah, there is no space for it, and it isn't very useful even if you can fix your top card.
Counters work against our tempo sadly, Dimir Charm is the only counter we can run, simply because its a charm and it does other stuff.
My latest list is slightly modified, runs only 2 charms and 2 more on the SB. I currently have one card spot free, so I'm toying around with different wincons lately just for fun. The SB has been revamped, but SBs are meta dependent so I won't post it.
The only thing going on now is that I'm keeping track of matches with a stat table on Excel. I will post win % versus deck types as soon as I have enough matches done, last time I checked it had 12 matches tracked winning 100% of the matches (RDW, Jund, Affinity and Ubr Control being the only tiers, the rest were brews or random decks), sadly I just moved a week ago and am waiting for an internet connection, so the tests have been on hold for a few days.
Deck is still open for ideas, keep them coming cause I feel there is a sleeper in the modern pool that will break this deck open at any time.
Decklists are welcome to be posted on the primer's member decklist section, so if you got a different version just send it to me.
I'm still not fully understand why the deck needs 2 mindslavers, can someone please explain? It seems like we'd be better off with another answer spell, seems being the key word.
Alright boys..... Let me explain a few things about this deck.
I am the infamous "shoktroopa" on modo. I came out of retirement a little back and found myself playing a lot of modern.
This little guy is my baby. The list is ROCK SOLID. I can honestly say that I handcrafted this masterpiece single handedly. I've played 2 PE's online and went a combined (12-0) in the swiss. Took 1st, and 5th. (lost to Jund, putrid leech). The starting 60 are almost perfect. The sideboard we have tons of options because this deck is very flexible and resilient to almost everything.
Why the u/w talismans!! why no white spells.. Dismember is black.. The only reason i played u/w was and is to decieve your opponents that your playing u/w tron. It's merely an optical illusion. You can run any color as long its blue.
Oboro?! It's in the list simply because you can do a few a tricks with it. Say your stuck on one blue source and its your turn and you thirst for knowlege.. have tron but no more blue. Bounce it and play an untapped oboro. Rarely does this happen but it does and has and will.
The pithing needles are pretty much irrelevelant with inclusion of squelch / trickbind on the board.
Please don't run annex... i mean honestly? just play spreading seas if u want that.
I didn't expect this deck to take off like it has but I hope everyone is having fun bashing nearly every single deck that is across from you like i am. The deck is definitely pretty good
I have a few questions for you, why did you choose to play platinum angel, what matchups have it been relevant? Also, why two mindslavers? wouldn't it be better to throw in another answer in replace of the 2nd? And what is your reasoning for running a singleton oblivion stone without searchers? Last but not least, why aren't your running any tolaria wests?
Could you return Oboro to your hand in response to the Tectonic Edge if you only have 4 lands, would that counter the ability, since you no longer have 4 lands?
If you guys are running crucible, how many are you running? I prefer gifts, but it seems that TfK is just the better way to go. I also like having more access to the crucible with gifts, along with really anything you need.
EDIT: I was also wondering why there are 2 mindslavers MB, when you're trying not to draw to many bombs, and go for a more control approach, meaning you'd want more answers.
That makes a little more sense, now, where could I find this optimal GLM list then?

What did you add if you took out a charm?
