That could be interesting. That would mean...an archon with pro-black (no angels in Theros), a sphinx with pro-red, a demon with pro-green, and a dragon with pro-white assuming the colors and protections go in the same direction as the hydra.
I dunno though, I wouldn't be surprised if this was just a one-off on account of hydras kinda being the poster boy monster of Theros.
Sorry, the Blue card is Master of Waves, a Merfolk. The dragon is Stormbreath Dragon. And well. . . Only white and black are missing from the 'cycle'.
Would it be too much to get some Cleric love in the first set (ever?) to actually feature GODS? Why is the Fate a Wizard? What happened to giving pushes to some lesser known tribes? Wizards are everywhere in every color. Clerics are THE BW tribe. Going outside of those colors and in the entire history of the game there are only 20 Clerics that are neither black or white. (230 that are black or white) So again, why is this thing a wizard? Why in the set with GODS is the only mention of a Cleric the token that the White God makes?
Fate is magical. They spin, measure, and cut the threads of life. So it makes sense for them to be a wizard much more than a cleric. Clerics are either healers or followers of some religion. . . does this card seem to follow a religion or be something that a religion likely forms itself around.
I also wouldn't count out clerics making an appearance yet.
Also, slightly bummed that they weren't enchantment creatures or a god of somekind from Nyx itself. Though I understand the reasoning.
Wait, Rescue from the Underworld is the perfect card to target this one.
Sacrifice it, exits the battlefield and goes to the graveyard, exile target creature. Returns, exile target creature. Cast at the end of their turn. Two exiles in a row.
They are for the dual gods but Xenegos isn't one of them
Confirmation that he isn't one of the Dual Gods as well? Well, that causes both headscratching and some happiness over how things worked. Still say that Xenagos sure seems like a follower of that belief system either way.
Storyline pretty much points to Xenagos becoming a God at somepoint. Also, saying it fits his theme doesn't mean he is a God, just that he pretty much fits the theme. Reveling and abandoning oneself to pleasure does not constitute being a God. He might just follow the God of Abandoment to passion and nature.
Well, don't know if this was brought up in all 57 pages (forgive me for skipping a good thirty of what I thought was probably complaining about the lands), but do you think given the names of the lands we have the relevant domains of each of the Dual Gods?
Temple of Abandonment sure sounds like Xenagos the Revelers place. Abandon yourself to passion? Just saying, you could probably match up the rest with the Gods purview.
Ettins seem fine, Guild Wars had them and they are actual totally fine "giant" like monstrosities.
Would be totally fine to see them.
Never said they weren't, just pointed out that the set itself doesn't lend to them being introduced as Ettins if they made it. Besides, Guild Wars is a fantasy game, and I don't know if the association was made.
Theros is not a greek world. It's Wizard's version of a greek world. That being said, they can and will add any creature they see fit, even if they aren't from greek myth.
Exactly, Wizard's version of a Greek world, with Heavy Greek flavor. We have Pandora's Box as a card basically. And the research team has done its research. So much like the other monsters who get rebranded to something that doesn't confuse the player base, even if there were Ettins, they likely wouldn't be called Ettins.
And I would never expect them to show up this set, if they were going to get named.
Populate card is good. About all that can be said. Could it be better? Yes, but anything could be better (baring the next card with CMC 0 and is both and INSTANT and has Split-Second, If this card exists in your library or possession even outside of the game, you may reveal said card and win the game.) the key point is it is functional and works in the environment quite well. Though it will probably typically not be included in other decks simply because Rootborn Defenses and Druid's Deliverance beat it in pure functionality. Though I may well be wrong.
where you get that he is unplayable or needing a ban
we hate that he is just a loss of a good design
He was talking about people moaning about him being unplayable in standard (there was a few) and people going OMG!AMAZINGS! not the thread as a whole.
I actually like his design for the most part, though his indestructibility seems a bit forced. Good thing He has the might of the Legion (and medics, and charms) behind him.

I know he is currently a Planeswalker. The whole rumor/theory/thing about the story is pointing at him becoming a God due to art.
Sigh.

Don't forget the Guttersnipe. Magma Jet. Shock. Molten Birth.
Love the common card. Love it.
IN which case, it just doesn't die to some removal.
But we always needs a dies to X in every thread about creatures.
