I think it'd be a reasonable 1-2 of in just about any deck that runs Gavony now. They do similar things, but each have their own benefits over the other. Gavony requires 5 mana every time you want the counters, but it can be done at Instant speed and it can make combat math for your opponent a bit tricky. The Angel, on the other hand, only requires 5 mana once and could potentially pump your dudes a bunch of times over the course of a single turn, is a reasonably sized flyer with Lifelink, which is reasonable in its own right without taking into account the buffs it gives itself from blocking or attacking, but it dies to removal while the Gavony only 'dies' to a small small number of cards in standard.

I think it's a cool card and I'll probably run one or two and see how it goes. It could be win-more, but I think it also has some potential.

Why wouldn't you run Immortal Servitude in this deck?

I'm a big fan of white in this deck. Loxodon Smiter does exactly what this deck wants as well.

I've been playing Golgari Aggro since just after RTR dropped, but just today I got myself 4x Loxodon Smiter and 3x Frontline Medic and they work so well with the deck. The 3 slot is slightly clogged though, so I'm thinking 3 of each and 3 Manglers, but I'm not sure yet. I also don't own any Oozes btw because my store has never had any, but I still compete well enough.

No card availability discussion allowed. Warning issued.

I played with it at the GTC prerelease, and it's an OK card, but that's about it really. It's pretty lame outside of Limited and not even a particularly high pick then.

Worst case scenario, Supreme Verdict should do the trick...

But as others have said, there are so many ways to deal with her. Morbid Tragic Slip is the cheapest one, if that's what you're looking for.

I see, apologies then, I misinterpreted what you said.

I still like it in my Golgari Aggro because it regenerates the utility cards (Arbor Elf, Deathrite Shaman) as well as my beaters, which can be extremely important. And instead of paying mana per card (or Tokens in the case of Experiment One) I just pay two mana and everyone is accounted for.

I'd definitely take black and run some Corpsejack Menaces, Essence Harvests, Golgari Charm for the Supreme Verdicts you might face, and plenty of removal and Alpha Authority is probably the best Hexproof-giving card. 2 CMC for Hexproof for the rest of the game is far better than every other alternative. Rancor is also a must-include IMO.

Pretty sure -X/-X effects bypass the likes of Indestructible and Regenerate. Indestructible and regen stop creatures from being destroyed, but giving it -X/-X and dropping its T to 0 or less isn't destroying it, it's simply dropping its T to a point where it can no longer exist on the battlefield. It is a state-based effect, not actually destroying the creature. As such Predator Ooze can be removed with Tragic Slip or a Golgari Charm, and a Lotleth Troll can't be regenerated through one.

That said, those are really the only two cards I'd be worried about losing to my own Golgari Charm and both of them can easily grow before you ever need to cast it.

I like the card, because its regenerate ability is insane against Supreme Verdict, my main reason for its inclusion in my sideboard, and its other abilities are all very relevant in various matches. Definitely a solid card IMO.

I really, really disagree with dropping any Increasing Savagery's. 3 would be the minimum I'd run with a Corpsejack personally. Placing 10 +1/+1 counters on a creature for 4 mana is not something you'd want to pass up on. Especially when you can cast it for its Flashback cost and throw another 20 +1/+1 counters around.

I'd try to find room for some Deadbridge Goliath's. 4 mana for a 5/5 creature with a reasonable Scavenge cost is nice. It's especially nice when you play it turn 3 because of a turn 2 Farseek.

I picked up Golgari as my first deck, but I'm just a little in love with Simic. Hard to choose between the two though, because I really like the colours and story for both of them

I've got to disagree on Essence Harvest not fitting in. It can do incredible damage to my opponent and could very easily be a game winner. There's no shortage of ways to get creatures to 20/20 or higher in this deck.

I'm not running full dual lands, there's still 10 Forests and 6 Swamps in there, but is there a better card for mana acceleration?

Edited the deck. Added Rancor and changed a couple of other things.

Blessings of Nature does look nice, but I don't know what I'd drop for it and if it's important enough to squeeze in over other cards. What would be your suggestions?

EDIT: Should I even just go over 60 cards and take a couple without removing anything?

  • posted a message on Where Did Everything Begin?
To be quite frank, this question hurts me to think about. I don't think it's something that we can ever have a proper answer for, but it's something that we can guess at, and maybe, just maybe some guesses will be partially right, or at least more right than others.

Anyway, let's get into my thoughts on the matter:

The scientific "law" of 'energy cannot be created or destroyed...'
I have a major issue with this because at some point, however many billions of years ago, something had to just come out of nothing. If this is the case, energy can be created, or at least could be created at that time.

    Religion
That comfy, fall-back-on response of "Goddidit" has the exact same issues as the previous point. If God created everything, what created God? And in case you were wondering: no, God cannot simply have existed forever. He had to come from something, or perhaps from nothing, but either way this explanation is equally as troublesome as nothing suddenly exploding and everything appearing.

I don't know... Maybe everything could have existed forever?
    I'm so very confused.

I think the 3 main points here are:
    1. Matter has always existed. There was no beginning.
    2. Matter suddenly appeared out of nothing.
    3. A kind of "conscience" has always existed (i.e. God) which is not made of matter, and created all matter.

I'm an atheist, by the way.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Is there any other explanation or possibility?

Bump. Did a fairly large edit of the deck. Let me know what you think!
