This really isn't sledgehammer, more like fat sligh. In sledgehammer you keep up in the early game and then dominate when your opp tops out at 4 and you land a hellkite. The list you posted looks like its slower than sligh but doesn't go over or through. I'd suggest making a curve of 8-8-4-4-4 7 other spells and 25 land
I didn't mean attack with the guildmage. I meant you'd get a t2 boar. T3 guildmage. T4 hellrider. T5 is where you use the ability. I was replying to A_F saying trample through souls chumping t3.
I don't know about players where you live but here they usually don't chump your 2/2 with lingering t3. They'll double block to kill or trade your 2/1s or let them through to chump later or land intangible virtue or sorin emblem. They will chump your fatties but that was the point I was making about its abilities being more midrangy.
Why would hellion crucible not work in gruul sligh but Stonewright will? Skaarg guildmage is good but a little too midrangy for my taste. It is a mana sink but Stonewright turns each red mana into damage whereas skaarg guildmage makes extra 4 mana into 4 damage. Trample is nice but let's face it, until turn 5 nothing really gets chumped. So you drop a guildmage turn 2 or 3 and use it turn 5, maybe turn 4 if you don't have anything to cast and make a land a creature but you don't want to do that if the opp can kill it and you're down a land.
Having played this deck earlier in the season I can say that unless you meta is full of aggro this deck isn't really the place to be as it just dies to control and other midrange decks, esp esper, bant and jund. One board wipe and gg.
Myr superior is one of my favorite cards. I love artifact decks although I've never been able to make one work...
Khaos I feel ya. I've never handled it well so all I can say is best of luck to you.
I've had a bystander call a judge when my opponent played a bonfire and we forgot to take my life total down at a gp. Calling a judge is probably the best thing to do as reaching to change the life totals yourself is probably frowned upon. The judge will tell them to make the life totals right no fuss no muss. Also, things you say are apparently crucial like calling triggers. In another game at the gp I didn't call the Pyreheart wolf trigger and hellrider trigger and he asked if he could block (in Japanese the term for blocking and declaring blockers are the same) I told him that he only had one creature on board and he needed to double block and he calls a judge and the ruling was since I didn't call it the opponent gets to decide whether the trigger happens or not.
I'll ask for advice here since more people here actually know what they're talking about.
I've been having success recently with the Gruul deck I've been talking about based on Daniel Ruiz Martin's PT deck. The only things I changed here are removing the Emissaries and 1 Silverheart with the Kessigs on the sideboard and 3 Skarrg Guildmages.
The only matchup I have an apparent trouble with is the flash variants. Since this deck is not as fast as we want it to be, and your fatties are easily disposed of, what suggestions might you guys make to improve the matchup? Skarrg Guildmage already improves it somewhat since I don't need to commit to the board when I feel a Verdict coming. I haven't fought Esper yet with this list, though I imagine it'll be similar to an effect.
I actually took that deck to game day but it gets out aggroed easily and folds to jund as everything takes setting up and you have no removal other than domri and a big creature -2. It wasn't horrible but with the meta being hyper aggro, jund and control it gets wiped with all of those... Or maybe I just don't know how to play magic
Just woke up but my 2 cents on game of thrones is the first book is awesome. The next 2 were pretty good. The last two tho... I've read the lotr books once and skipped the frodo parts. I loved the wheel of time series. I just didn't like the books written by the new guy even though the story was awesome the writing style just put me off and I couldn't continue
Speaking of yugioh, I was talking with a friend at his bar and he told me he used to play yugioh but about a third if his deck went an got banned so he quit
On another note, not one dick joke today... Clan, I am disappoint.
