@InCabalTherapy - You should read the article Salmo posted in the article section detailing the conspiracies for a more in depth reason they are nuts.
My favorite conspiracy play I've seen was when my friend Kirk played Mother of Runes and someone went to kill it. He flipped over a conspiracy giving it haste of out of nowhere and it deflected the removal.
Giving a creature haste, +1/+1, or some other bonus is great.
For some reason I was under the impression that you had to reveal the conspiracy when the named card was cast. This is insane.
The lack of haste does hurt, but I still think he fits well with black's recurring creatures and tokens. I think he will do an excellent job in grinding out wins through attrition, I look forward to testing him.
Awesome to hear you've had success with a 2/2/1 ratio in your RGD block. The 2/2/1 ratio is interesting, and you bring up a great point in balancing performance and cost of sleeves / storage.
I'm considering the daunting task of putting together a draft sim to mimic drafting IPA block. It would consist of a cube of Invasion, Planeshift, and Apocalypse, each with 4x common, 2x uncommon and 1x rare (1474 cards in total). Each drafter would get a pack of Invasion, Planeshift and Apocalypse and the packs would consist of 11 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare.
I've put together draft sims for single set draft formats, like triple innistrad, but not for a block. Has anyone attempted something like this? Are there any cards that I shouldn't include, or should I be faithful to the format and include everything?
Has anyone tested Titania yet? I have 41 cards that destroy lands, including some that you probably wouldn't use on yourself like molten rain. I'm worried that most of the time she is just a 5/3 for 5 that might return a fetchland. The ceiling is clearly high with armageddon, ravages of war, wildfire, burning of xinye, dust bowl etc. I think she is worth testing.
W: Mirran Crusader > Hallowed Spiritkeeper
B: Nezumi Graverobber > Flesh Carver Doom Blade > Malicious Affliction; I think the more difficult casting cost is worth the potential two for one.
R: Keldon Vandals > Dualcaster Mage; Cut utility for utility. Will pay attention to this change, Vandals might make a return in the future. Fire Imp > Feldon of the Third Path Tempt with Vengeance > Daretti, Scrap Savant; Tempt is strong with Purphoros, God of the Forge, but I'd rather push red into more of an artifact/reanimate role than tokens.
G: Jungle Lion > Song of the Dryads
I just noticed that his +2 is "Discard up to two cards..." meaning you can +2 for 0, 1 or 2. Nice flexibility allowing you to sculpt your hand based on how many cards you are willing to ditch.
I'm really enjoying Academy Rector. She is an awesome toolbox creature that can grab o-ring, control magic, form of the dragon or any enchantment the board state calls for. With the right support, she can be an interesting addition to cube.
Definitely testing this guy. I'm excited for any red card that supports archetypes other than aggro. This guy will create some awesome stories, which I'm sure is a good enough reason for some people to include in their cube.
