I think this is a good time to look at the U/w list a bit more.
Is kataki, War's Wage a good affinity answer? My only concern is that it is quite fragile when compared to stony silence. In the past, I've kept Supression Field in the board against twin/pod/Tron. It might stay as well.
Doesn't Sygg and Kira occupy the same slot? Or would a 2/2 split be possible?
merfolk has really become a deck that can easily go two ways.
One with lots of counter spells, and relies just as much on disruption as it does on having an aggressive clock//
and one that relies on winning quickly, with a small amount of removal, etc, that plays more aggressively.
Playing one over the other really seems meta-dependant, if you don't see much combo or control decks, playing more aggressively is better.
If you don't see as much tempo or aggro, playing with disruption is better.
That is not to say that aggro fish can't beat combo, or that disruption fish can't beat tempo, but it depends more on variance or how the matchup is played than how the deck is built.
I'm still feeling the disruption, as it seems to play better vs the whole field, though if you aren't seeing much combo, aggro would probably do better.
This is my favorite part about the deck. I appreciate having a strong Aggro plan in Game 1 that can transform into a disruption/tempo strategy in Game 2/3.
Has anyone tried Cryptic Command lately? The fog play is great for alpha strikes. It's still tough to get to 4 mana on time, but I could also see it being pretty effective in a "bigger fish" list like Big Zoo.
Is there room for 1-2 Cryptic Command somewhere in our lists? I thought for a long time it was too slow, but since we are often playing Master of Waves it may fit the curve.
Are most folks playing the tempo or aggro game? I've found the aggro works better for me, though I'm not sure if that is playstyle or because the list works better.
I'm using the white splash because I feel it gives fish the best access to hate cards. My list plays much more like a tempo based list, though I don't think it is as powerful as the Delver tempo decks. I do think this list has an edge over the slower controlling lists that pop up every now and again.
Items I'm currently debating:
1) MD PTE vs. MD Spell Pierce. I find the counter is better game 1, and removal better in the future. It helps against Liliana quite a bit, and with more Bitter Blossom's on the horizon, early counters are up in value, IMO.
2) Sygg vs. Kira. This has been a longstanding discussion, and while Kira typically wins the debate, I've got him in again to test out.
3) Master of Waves: Clearly belongs in the beatdown list. I think he's a bit clunky in a tempo build.
Rogue Deckbuilder posted a list on YouTube today.

Honestly, Rhino in the meta makes me lean more toward white and Path to Exile. Taking 7 damage off a Rhino makes me feel so sad.

There's always Leyline of Sanctity. I don't know that I would dedicate the slots unless it is very prevalent for you.
