Is there any way to map foils in a box? I'm assuming figuring it out would be a lot more work. I for one would be willing to pay more for an app that can map for foils.
Kind of, but not very well.
For GTC and RTR the distribution was figured out by qwerty59.
If you happen to open a foil rare you can know the location of the second foil rare if you happen to have one of the few boxes that has a second foil rare. You will also know the location of the foil commons.
If you open a foil common you know the location of all of the foil commons, and have a 25% chance of guessing correctly where the rare(s) are.
If you open a foil uncommon you will know the location of the second foil uncommon. And have a 50% of guessing where the foil rare(s) are and a 50% chance of guessing where all of the foil commons are.
Unfortunately it's not too practical. Mostly because there is usually only one foil rare in the box, and you won't know what it is until you've opened it.
But I may at least add this little bit in to the program at some point.
Before I try the app I was wondering if there has been any evidence for the GTC map or any other previous map for other editions to have worked in non English Product.
I'm specifically looking forward to try this with boxes in Portuguese Language
As long as the box says "Made in USA" on the back, it will work. Most of them are now.
I have a box that doesn't seem to make any sense. I ran it through the app but it could not figure it out at all. Hopefully someone here with experience can guide me through mapping it:
In particular, the 5 5 5 and the 2 2 2 in the middle column have me completely stumped. Thanks in advance for any help!
This one has definitely had pack removals, the sleeve ratio is too far off. My guess is that it has had an excessive number of removals. There could be shifts in there too, but it's hard to tell with the number of missing packs.
Here's a box that has me stumped. It's partially opened as well.
So, here is a fun one. I'm sure you can probably guess where the real locations of everything are by referencing the second attachment. Your middle and right upper half swapped places, and the middle and right also didn't seem to row shift, but you can use the numbers to figure out which rows they will be on.
They use the same track sequence as everything else released in 2012.
I haven't had too much time to look at the double faced cards, but one thing I noticed right away is that, if you follow the row shifting, Huntmaster appears 15 packs away from Binding Blade in almost half of the boxes I looked at.
The box mapping app takes quite some time but does return. I guess its pretty messed up, because usually its very fast.
I've opened a few and unfortunately, it does not seem to match:
X X X 5 X X X X X X X
1 2 3 4 X X X X X X X
1: Wrecking Ogre
2: Duskmantle Sear
3: Unexpected Result
4: Clan Defiance
5: Domri Rade --> This one should of been Breeding Pool, something does not line up....
If anyone has any idea I'd certainly take any help!
This box works out just fine in v1.1.5, be sure to get the update.
Still have not seen the map app for iOS yet, any news when that should come out?
v1.1.0 was posted a week ago. It took around a week for the others, so probably very soon.
Unfortunately I can't submit the updates in the meantime or it will reset the whole waiting process. After it shows up I will immediately post the v1.1.2 update which unscrambles boxes like the one Takemikazuchi just posted.
So if you get the "Too scrambled" message, just set it aside and wait for the update.
There is going to be at least one more update to the unscrambling routine for certain boxes that are really messed up.
Vinzito,
Quick question - See post above that I sent to Kuberr. Now my question - when I enter those 2 packs on the right all the predictions go blank - is that normal? I guess my question is why doesnt it at least know more about what is in the next slots based on having at least 14 packs opened.. Oh well , just wondering.
Thanks for your insight.....
I have question, is it possible that first part of box has another sleve sequence than second part ?
or I find solve - i have two not matching boosters.
top 2 3 1 4 5 6 8 9 7 10 11 12 bottom (I replace row 1 on 3 place and row 7 on 9)
S B G O D S G O D S B G right
G O D S B G D S B G O D center
D S B G O S B G O D S B left
sequence is B D G S O
Am I right that two boosters I marked red are incorrect and I should't count them?
please help me with it (it's my first box mapping) and then I'll start open boosters
If you are solving it by hand you'll need to figure out which individual packs swapped and switch those first, then swap your rows. In that order. You definitely have individual packs swapped and row shifts. I'm not sure if you have pack removals, keep in mind those can shift things around too. Once you have your sleeve map completely figured out and know exactly where everything goes, then you can begin opening packs.
I'm not sure if the first post has been updated yet, but you can find my track lists in the third post.
Was going through the app staring what I need and noticed an uncommon listed with the white.
Thanks, I will patch that in the next version.
Also, I think I may be making progress with the individually swapped packs in some boxes. I'm going to run through some more data to see how consistent it is first.
Do you have an ETA on the iOS version? I don't have access to an android, and I can't figure out how to do it without the app. I need to do it before tomorrow too though.
iOS version has already been submitted, but it takes a little over a week for apps and updates to actually go live on iTunes app store.
It's pretty fun solving them by hand too though. Just make sure to get the pack sleeves sorted first when doing it by hand - it'll be a lot easier that way.
Current map isn't there yet. I found sequences not possible on the tracks (DCB left to right in a row) and pairings not possible in the same row (Bob followed by Domri Rade). Great work so far and here's hoping for nailing down the last bits of what isn't right!
Are you looking at the sleeves first to make sure there aren't any unusual shifts? Some boxes have more than just rows shifting. They have individual packs swapping. Look at the sleeves first to make sure you have a box that isn't completely scrambled. I have yet to figure out any pattern to the individual packs swapping.
If I don't get the sleeves straightened out first, I don't even attempt to map it because it will mess with the sequence.
@Draxxusx: If you still have your box/sleeve info I would really appreciate it if you could send it to me so I can analyze it.
We picked up the app, but unfortunately the phone isn't cooperating. (still has it only downloading at 1%) -_- Any suggestions for android emulation? Edit: got it to work finally Edit 2: tested app versus another box. Fantastic results. Only thing borked was Spark Trooper instead of Boros Reckoner. All other predictions spot-on.
Was this earlier on in the pack opening? Only reason I'm wondering is in it's current state it will generate some way-to-early-to-know-for-sure predictions. Because it thinks it's on the correct track sequence, then after opening something that doesn't make sense, it'll try a different track sequence that works out better with the new information. Next version I will try to instead convert these too-early predictions into partial predictions by comparing results over all possible track sequences ahead of time.
Unfortunately my Gatecrash boxes got delayed in shipment so I couldn't test on an actual box. I'm going to pick one up tomorrow at my LGS. But if anyone has any feedback for me in the meantime, drop me a PM.

This box looks good so far in v1.1.6 (see first attachment)

Get version v1.1.2, it fixes this issue.
Make sure you get the latest update. I just tested it and it accepts this sleeve order.
This latest version fixes about half of these scrambled boxes. The next update will fix a lot more of them.

Something is wrong with Clan Defiance and Nightveil specter, I'll check it out. You could try removing them for now.
Yes, actually, just swap them. I think it was an undetected pack swap. Or some other oddity.
