That was the idea at first. I tried to figure out the tracks without inputting the sequence or any relevant assumptions based on the current print technology. However it does not seem simple as row inversion introduces a lot of noise.
Maybe Vinzito figured it out. I know I haven't yet
During the RTR period I have learned about this technique and wanted to contribute. I wrote a program that might be useful to those who do the mapping by hand. My goal was to have it solve the map automatically but I am not there yet (open for suggestions, just pm me). Here is a sample of the results I got from the RTR xlsl file :
(ok or !ok) <card name>-<followed by>:<#occurances>
These are the top results. Obviously it is not the whole map but most of it is accurate if you compare it to the real map. This was extracted from 97 boxes of data using a rudimentary technique. It takes no assumption based on the tracks or the sequences so it should be improvable. Again if you have suggestions I'm open to try them.
One last point, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pay attention to the syntax when writing cards to a document. It needs to be the exact name on gatherer otherwise it makes it quite hard for the program to figure out what the cards are and I will usually reject the boxes/fix the data manually (sucks).
I have been away from magic for a while, returning with RTR, and I must say:
I didn't like the over the top cards from the block before.
Geist of Saint Traft? Are you kidding me? Snapcaster Mage? Houndmaster? Olivia?? WTF??
So I like a bit less power in the format, therefore I like RtR and Gatecrash.
That being said, I think there are alot interesting cards spoiled:
Aurelia's Fury
Boros Charm
Call of the Nightwing
Clan Defiance
Dimir Charm
Fathom Mage
Firemane Avenger
High Priest of Penance
Mystic Genesis
Obzedat, Ghost Council
Prime Speaker Zegana
Shambleshark
Simic Charm
Whispering Madness
Zameck Guildmage
Burning-Tree Emissary
Nightveil Specter
Rubblebelt Raiders (!!)
Glaring Spotlight (sure to be in sideboard of alot of decks until that geist of St. is gone)
And these are just the gold and multicolor cards! Monocolor also have some nice things.
Then again, maybe none of the cards is a "cool" as the Geist of saint Traft, were the finals of a GP is decided by the number of geists you drew.
So people hating GTC are probably people that also like cards like arcbound ravager, skullclamp etc.
I agree with you as I am also coming back after a long break to the RTR block. So far I am avoiding the Innistrad block so I can collect some cards before the rotation and then play standard. To me it feels that the previous block had too much of a power disparity between its cards. Can't wait for the pre-release!
I have sent a few PMs that were unanswered and I see that they didn't go to the sent folder. Is this because there is a problem with my account or did I really get no answers?

Let's do this

Edit : Setting was turned off by default, my bad.
