So this is my first attempt at an artifact build, when I first saw Sydri spoiled I knew I was gonna build around her was just waiting to see how she played out at the helm. After a little bit of research and searching for how I wanted to play her, it seems though no matter what I do with her it either to explosive at the beginning or just a giant mess of nothing with that in mind I hope to get some help with the masses. So with out further ado my list:
So that is the list thus far, hopefully over the next few weeks will be able to get some more playtesting in (stupid holiday season). Mana base needs some serious work but figured that can come at a later date. Not really looking for tons of infinite combos. As such some are already there, prolly more than there should be, but alas this deck takes forever to get online. A very notable card missing from the list is Mycosynth Lattice, I just feel it is very abusive and I choose to not run it with Sydri.
A special thanks to DTrain and his inspirational list which can be found here Sydri, Galvanic Genius.
Will update the main section with synergies and such when I have time after work tomorrow.
Overall your build has been an inspiration for me to actually build this deck and thank you for that. It just seems that its either explosive or not. In the next coming days I hope to post it and get your input.
So a little more spot removal incase we can't end our loop. Overall I swear I grow more in love with this everyday though somehow I need to reobtain Fungal Sprouting.
Small deck update, added a better mana base with the addition of commander 2013 product. Contagion Engine was obtained to allow us to basically poop out more saporlings and make Ghave grow as well. I know Primal Vigor isn't Doubling Season but still allows for us to combo if it is dropped on that turn and is alot more budget friendly at the moment. Thoughts? Next step is more removal.
People in my meta don't actually build new decks too often, except for me. The two people that I play with the most have had the same decks built for several years and they just constantly refine those decks. Those decks are really pimped out and honed to perfection, though.
^^This.
My friends have their original commanders, Olivia, Ghost Council, and Krond. Until recently I donated a Vela and Tajic to my brother. I myself enjoy the deck building process. Most start out with a bunch of basic extra cards and ramp up as stuff is released/obtained with us spreading the love equally so no one gets too far ahead of one another.
Aside from that my LGS which seems to vary from time to time. Which is like a pretty random gambit.
So some minor tweaks with cards obtained this week. Swan song makes an interesting addition as it can be fetched with Firemind's Foresight and a niche counterspell. As for Steam Augury it is faster than Blast of Genius plus who cares if our cards go to the yard we just recur them anyway.
This is pretty much what I thought, I did manage to Flickerwisp into Bane of Progress against my Sydri deck for a nice board wipe. It pretty much is just a pet card and wanted to see the community's thoughts.
So while still constructing my Bant list at the moment, this card I can't seem to cut. Basically turns my ETB into double but at the same time costs 6 mana and have to wait a turn for me to play a creature. Also blinking things doesn't really fuel it. I think I'm better off with Minion Reflector.
I have no idea how strong this will be, but it looks like fun. My plan was to just use the cards from the hydra deck, but adding in some stuff could be quite awesome. You could always proxy up some heads until you can get more. That's why I did for the longest time with my 200-card zombie horde (finally got enough tokens about 2 months ago).
I have never really proxied anything before and dont intend to do so will explain further down.
I like the idea of Lead the Stampede and Genesis Wave, would treat Genesis Wave like hydra count or on say turn 7 cast for a heavy wave.
So as for its testing, I had a bunch of friends over during the weekend of Commander 2013 and we used the precons against the horde and went really bad for us..... I think we won 1 out of the 7 times we went up against the horde. From the experience the hydra head damage can really hurt a slower meta being that if you can't kill the heads you will lose in 3-4 hydra turns. I think I am not gonna allow the hydra to deal damage based on opponents if we share life totals or give each player their own total. There have been times where the hydra did 30+damage in heads..... So more tuning is coming stay tuned any ideas will help.
So after many a month's and the release of Commander 2013 I finally have got a chance to upgrade my deck with some staples that I didn't previously own, I'm looking at you Sol Ring and Command Tower. And yes I know that Nekusar, the Mindrazer has emerged as a very dangerous commander in the Grixis shard. But he also makes a really decent addition to my 99 forcing people to draw more and punishing them with my other pingers.
So I took a step back from a little bit of jankier chaotic cards to attempt to win more than just constantly warping the board state, as shown in my change log. I haven't taken the new updated list to my LGS yet but it has tested well in my group of friends since its first incarnation where it always ended up fizzling due to it having no real win condition.
Once again I could always use the feedback for this deck.
I woke up this morning and walked to the target around the corner from my house and saw no product on shelves, sighed and went over to an associate and they popped open a box so I scooped up all 5.

But a card I've been testing to some great advantage is Myr Turbine, lets me fetch Myr Retriever, Myr Battlesphere, and Shimmer Myr. Hopefully I run into another Myr to run, was trying Myr Propagator but felt really janky.

Due to some of the Saporling anthems on crearures his ability won't always trigger but will keep him in mind.
Mini Update:
Fungal Behemoth for Mirror Entity.
Thorn Thallid for Path to Exile.
Treasure Find for Putrefy.
So a little more spot removal incase we can't end our loop. Overall I swear I grow more in love with this everyday though somehow I need to reobtain Fungal Sprouting.

Swan Song for Cultural Exchange
Steam Augury in for Blast of Genius.

Got to play a game against a Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge before FNM. Managed to Cyclonic Rift her back into hand EoT, followed by Tezzeret the Seeker into Teferi's Puzzle Box to tuck her. From there on it was wheeling and dealing do to Nekusar, the Mindrazer and Price of Knowledge.
The WP package is there I'm just wondering if its worth the effort some times. I think every creature in deck can be paired accept 1 (poor Vigor).

@Garridy - Lol I wish I could include him and may just for flavor at somepoint but the thread name was only thing I could come up with.
@gelf - Yes unless something breaks the loop. But it isn't hard to do.
Trust me with all the saporling saccing you will be doing between Psychotrope Thallid and Dark Prophecy you won't miss blue.
Take a look in my sig its a full fungus tribal deck. Good luck and it is definetly a fun build.
