Hey, are you still playing this deck? There are some new blue morphs in Khans and C14 that look exciting. And I wonder if there are any additional cards from the past couple years worth including.
Basically the goal of the deck is to either ramp into a bomb and protect it with Slobad or to grind out the opponent with recursion and card advantage. If that plan doesn't work, feel free to wipe the board and use Slobad to save your mana or your bombs and either win outright, or recover faster than the opponent.
If you don't mind heavily relying on artifacts (with a good way to protect them), Slobad makes a great mono red general.
I'm running a Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer deck which focuses very heavily on artifact ramp and I was looking advice on what people find to be the best artifact ramp.
I find that artifact ramp comes in ~4 flavors, here are the ones I use:
My problem is that I don't really like playing with the "one-time mana producers" I've listed. I know Mana Vault and Grim Monolith can make for some sick plays, but I always hate paying the mana to untap them and I don't really feel like putting cards like Voltaic Key and Clock of Omens in my deck (although if someone can make a strong argument for them I might reconsider).
My question is, are there any artifact ramp cards you really like using that I have forgotten? Thanks for the help!
Edit: BTW I'm also running some other cards like Crucible of Worlds + Fetches, as well as regular card draw to ensure I hit my land drops.
RaggedJoe: Sorry, I was getting ahead of myself. Even though this doesn't hit creatures, playing this in response to Mom blocking a guide/devil/marauders would kill it.
My question is, is there a way to use this card to stop lifegain through jitte without them responding by removing a counter? I guess you'd have to do it with another bolt. Say, opponent at 3, we bolt, they remove a counter, we respond with Skullcrack...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new Skullcrack prevents Circle of protection: Red, creatures with pro-red (Mom), as well as lifegain. That, plus the fact that this is a maindeck-able answer makes me very excited to test this out.
I just found Jay Shield's list that placed 9th at an SCG Open in August. It has a few interesting choices that I haven't seen much discussion on so I thought I'd bring it up.
Do you think Faithless Looting could be viable as card quality/Lavamancer Fuel with Hellsparks to diminish the cost of discarding? Or maybe just as a budget alternative to fetches?
Hey guys, first time poster looking for some help. I want to build a multiplayer commander deck that has no threats of it's own, but instead copies/steals/redirects opponents best spells to win the game. My playgroup is very casual, no fast combo, little control, and mostly big creature/agro decks.
Does this idea seem viable? And which commander would you suggest? I was thinking about using Nin, the pain artist because UR has some of the best "steal" cards, and with Nin, I'd be able to destroy my opponents stolen creatures for additional benefit.
I'm hoping to get a list of all the playable steal effects to get a better idea of if this kind of deck is even playable. Here's a list I have so far:
That might be the best EDH deck that I own. The cards in the deck fall into a few categories:
Ramp - Lots and lots of artifact ramp, including mana doublers
Sac Fodder/Tokens - Wellsprings, Spine of Ish Sah, Myr Retriever, Myr Battlesphere, Pentavus, Thopter Assembly
Recursion - Goblin Welder, Trash for Treasure, Salvaging Station, Scarecrone
Artifact Destruction - Mycosynth Lattice/Liquimetal Coating + Shattering Pulse/Viashino Heretic/Board wipes *Edit* or Karn, Silver Golem for their lands
Board Wipes - All is Dust, Obliterate, Devastation, Jokulhaups
Card advantage - Wheel effects, Staff of Nin, Mimic Vat

Other 'regular mana producers' I forgot are Mind Stone, Fire Diamond, and Coldsteel Heart. Thoughts on those?
I find that artifact ramp comes in ~4 flavors, here are the ones I use:
Regular mana production: Sol Ring, Worn Powerstone, Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, Mana Crypt
One-time mana production: Mana Vault, Grim Monolith, Basalt Monolith
Mana doublers: Caged Sun, Gauntlet of Power, Gauntlet of Might
Land searchers: Wayfarer's Bauble, Expedition Map, Mycosynth Wellspring

He runs 4 Grim Lavamancer and no fetches, only 16 mountains (with two Rings), a playset of Hellspark Elemental, 2 Faithless Looting, and 2 Incinerate. Has anyone seen a tournament report where he explains his choices?

Also, obviously Homeward Path will be a problem. I could include some select LD or some on-theme cards like Annex to help.
Other cards I could include are a couple sac outlets, draw spells, and counterspells. Any other ideas would be great, thank you!
