I think they said something about 'build your own monster', to me that sounds like flip cards and soulbond and meld

No Dana or Wedhe, lots of cards going to official Wizards sources. that blows

I was just coming here to post about that. After ROE, I was really excited for more Eldrazi. after BFZ and Shadows blocks, i never want to see them again, they completely forgot what Eldrazi were. ZEN and WWK were fantastic sets, let's hope Wizards gets at least a little bit of that. if they botch this as bad as BFZ block, i hope they just destroy the plane.

I don't want t go back to Theros, it was underpowered and boring.

The second one, the 'monster set' smbol looks a lot like Lorwyn block, that could be exciting if that kind of power and creativity is around

Sorry. Trying to screen cap the MtG Arena client. A new update just dropped and you can pre-order the Throne of Eldraine bundle to get a Gingerbread Princess exquisite card back and the card style for Garruk, Cursed Huntsman. He reads as follows:

    Garruk, Cursed Huntsman 4BG
    Planeswalker - Garruk

{0}: Create two 2/2 black and green Wolf creature tokens with "When this creature dies, put a loyalty counter on each Garruk you control."
{-3}: Destroy target creature. Draw a card.
{-6}: You get an emblem with "Creatures you control get +3/+3 and trample."

    {5}

He seems really strong just for the token generator, but notably he cannot ultimate without Proliferate or a Wolf dying.

UPDATE: Have to reinstall NVidia Geforce to get Screen Cap, CUDA install broke it the other day. Will have a screenshot up as soon as I can.

I don't see the work to make him ult as a drawback. If wolves are not dying, that usually means that their creatures are dying or you are getting in damage. unless they are playing a Defenders deck that can keep up with 2 new tokens a turn, there is no way you are not getting value

So I have been looking at SFM for aggro, midrange and control in various colors. I know UW Control would be the immediate home, but what else do people think is worth trying?

Any new ideas on how we are bulding our deck after the b&r announcement?
Do we stick with the wishboard or do we go a more oldschool route?

I don't feel the need to change anything because of this. I don't think there is a clear answer on which one is better, but this changes nothing. if anything, it matters less now because Tron will be better positioned and either will do better.

On the topic of reacting to bannings, I don't have a great feeling about Stirrings. if it were to take a banhammer to the teeth, what do we think would replace it? I already run Oath of Nissa but I don't know what would go in those spots

Banning Looting is the final nail in the coffin of Modern. Hitting a wide swath of decks because people want less combo decks is dumb as hell. Modern will become a wasteland like Standard where 3-4 decks take control of the meta and nothing else will stand a chance. Expect a huge Tron revival now.

that's absurd. combo will still exist, but the majority like Modern better when it is slower and more interactive, which this does

Ding dong the Looting is dead!! I'm keeping the 3 Surgical in every sideboard because it does heavy lifting against a ton of decks, but it will be nice to not have to mainboard them

I think for some people, it's that too many tutors make each game feel the same, and that tutors lend themselves to much higher power levels. I don't mind them, I don't think it's a problems with the actual tutors, just that once you have a few of the good ones, the natural path it to go more into cEDH because once you have tutors and the lands, it's easy to just enter an arms race

    are they stupid?

How can you make such a bold statement after saying-
I don't play Arena or any form of Standard

It’s nice not to see the same stuff in an event with just alt. art basics on the table. Easy way to grind EXP, and also allows the brewers a chance to test some jank. Beyond that, it’s new player friendly as a lot of those cards aren’t available without purchasing packs or spending wildcards.

I’d say it’s stupid to commentate on something you admittedly don’t know anything about, but that’s just me.

it was a disclaimer in case something Arena specific like Standard cards not readily available (which is stupid, that is the draw of Standard, that cards are cheaper and there aren't supply issues. I suppose that this may be better for a deeply flawed platform with a worse distribution system than booster packs already are. I just know that when i played Standard back around og Innistrad, if you had banned 19 cards just for one event, that event would not have drawn a single person. because we would say 'oh, the event organizer wants to bend us over? we will go elsewhere. I don't understand what happened from the years of 'Standard sucks, players stop playing it' to 'the format changes every few weeks with arbitrary and ridiculous basically Shaharazad subgames, but we won't bail'. I may not know Arena, but I know Paper Constructed, all formats have a few basic ideas 'I spend the money, i play the cards, you change without warning the playability of the cards, I think twice about spending the money'

I don't play Arena or any form of Standard, but effectively 'you can't play red' just seems really obnoxious. with Ferocidon, that's a full 20 cards banned. again idk how Standard really works, but in a Modern event if you said 'in addition to the actual banned list, you can't play the 19 best cards that are otherwise legal' actually nobody would play. are they stupid?

I can go to any store in my area and buy a booster box of modern horizons today. It's very available. There a massive amount available online as well for around $181.85 a booster box. It's there.

it must be nice. I have played at 2, been to three. Greensboro NC is not a small town, and unless I have missed something looking for it, Horizons is simply not available in store anywhere in the city proper. it's ice to be in a place not having supply issues, but Dominaria is far more available depspite not selling half as well according to the store owners

Not sure what people are saying about supply being constrained on modern horizons. It seems like it is in stock at distributors.

I go to two different stores, neither has had any in weeks, they are having a heck of a time getting it

so I am hoping nothing gets banned, but that's unlikely. I do hope Wizards at least unbans SFM at the same time. we've had bannings in 2 different announcements since the last unban, they need to GIVE something with these annoncements instead of just taking our money and decks away.

Yes hopefully there are more unbannings rather than bannings but that seems unlikely

If you were to go the unban route, we could probably say that should Hogaak remain, Splinter Twin, Birthing Pod, Treasure Cruise, Dig Through Time, Eye of Ugin, Skullclamp, Stoneforge Mystic, Umezawa's Jitte, and Summer Bloom could all come off, and we still wouldn't end up with a new top tier deck.

oh, I strongly disagree. I think Pod and TC would be at a similar level, a little stronger than the rest of Modern, but not head and shoulders, can easily be fought, like a Tier 0.66 or something. most of the rest would be Tier 1-2, but Bloom is too fast without better answers, ans Skullclamp/Jitte both make almost everything else irrelevant, they are way too strong even for me and should never come off.

Also Eye could only be a swap for Temple, that deck was too brutal
