Yep. There is a story about how Reid Duke lost his Grishoalbrand deck on the plane trip to a recent GP, so he had to go with Jund. He ended up in the top 8 - not bad. Smile

So, he lost an $800-900 deck, and it was no big deal to switch to a $2k deck? Wow, must be nice to have money be irrelevant. this is classic pay-to-win

It's time for Barry's land, during the fight the Eldrazi infect the ground and no colored mana coming out.
    Just joking

Why just joking?the Urzatron player in me would love nothing more than an entire block of huge, stupid colorless cards, and cards to make them work, hehe Wink

I would like to see Annihilator again. I know where it is on the Storm Scale and all, but it is so tied to the Eldrazi. It is a busted mechanic that goes on the most ridiculous creatures. I think the problem was it on lesser Eldrazi. they should put it on whichever Titans they use this block, while making it very clear that it will only ever be on the big 3, and when they are dead, never again. It is just so flavorful, it would be a shame to weaken them. The Eldrazi are stronger than gods and live only to destroy and consume, and the cards should reflect that. I would also love some more good multikicker, that mechanic is a blast Smile

Also, quick question: do I pick up my Snapcasters while they're under $70 or do I wait till their inevitable resurgence at mythic in MM3 in 2017?[/quote]

If you can afford to wait, I would have the best of both worlds. pick them up now, wait for the inevitable major spikes between now and Summer 2016, trade/sell them off at a large profit, then get them again when they are reprinted. that is what I have been working on Smile

    Step 1-ban Tron
Step 2- Watch Goyf shoot up to $500+ each
Step 3- Die to BGx constantly
Step 4-Unban Tron and apologize to it

You have fun in your Goyf-fest, I will just switch to EDH, see what the fuss is about

my ideal List, let the butthurt flow through you Wink

    5 Artifact lands
    Cloudpost
    Hypergenesis
    Ponder
    Seething Song
    Second Sunrise
    Seething Song
    Sensei's Divining Top
    Skullclamp
    Blazing Shoal
    Dark depths
    Glimpse of Nature
with the other cards that enabled Legacy power decks, as well as Deceiver Exarch on a watch list. I could see a couple combo cards coming off if the rest gave us a real control deck, but that seems reasonable to me. the artifact lands maybe could have a test unban for like 1 PT. I think this is pretty reasonable, less than 20 cards. houghts

I'm new to this deck coming from Junk Abzan and Affinity and had a few questions. I've seen a bunch of lists running various amounts of Dungrove Elder between the main and SB; what matchups is he particularity good/bad against? My current list doesn't run any but it would be easy enough to pick them up, can anyone convince me to switch them in?

A couple lists have shown up in the Modern Festival Prelims, and one in particular struck my fancy. He was running 4 Llanowar Reborn and a Predator Ooze among a bunch of other small changes. I think Ooze could be pretty strong in conjunction with prey upon, I think the meta has shifted away from Path so indestructible is much stronger.

Edit* A link to the list I was referencing.

I lov Ooze, it is a fun and unique card, but it is too slow for this deck. I have my playset and I tried it in pretty much every slot in this deck, and by the time it even swings for 2, we want to have pretty much one. If the game is still going when it does as much as Baloth, we are in a bad spot. indestructible is nice, in a deck that wants a chump blocker that can grow. it has the potential to be good in a mono-G midrange, but I don't see any reason to ever run it here.

I don't know if this was discussed before, but what does everyone thing of Might of the Masses ? I could see it being a really excellent addition to the deck. need to test a bit

I don't know if i'm allowed to talk here about the new creature spoiled, but anyone think it's a signal of an incoming ban of Twin? or do they simply plan to just powercreep constantly the twin targets?

    - L

I doubt it signals the end of Exarch. Banning him wouldn't weaken the deck, it would just price ~80% of Twin players out of the format as they would need to spend $700-800 on goyfs to play a competitive deck.

Or they could, you know, splash green without Goyf, just do it for the new guy -4x Exarch +4x Krasis, not ever deck with G has to play that stupid card, just play Scooze! I personally agree with L, this seems like when they printed CoCo, it would take some of the sting out.

I run Goblin tokens on occasion, it is pretty good for me. it has access to most of the Burn SB cards, so that is a big plus. mine is a bit slower, but more resistent and consistent, with a playset of all the Modern Lords, which gives it a very real late game. my rough matchup so far is Tron SO MANY SWEEPERS!

how about not worrying above recursion and just using them to fill the GY? then Delve is very much a thing, use Empty the Pits ?instead of reanimation cards, fill those slots with ways to ensure you draw one Empty instead? a Sultai Dredge/Self Mill/Delve deck?

according to this spreadsheet from the Metagame thread, Twin decks are almost 14%, and if I remember correctly, they have been for a long time, Pod wasn't much higher, and it was only very briefly.I am not out for Twin in particular. I am out for any deck that is better than decks that are banned. once the List is fair, I will stop. I want it to be through unbans, but since WotC is to proud to admit failure, Pod isnot coming off, so that is impossible

you do see the difference right? banning the Tron lands, Tron completely ceases to exist. Banning HM, Bloom has to rely on a Prime Time well ahead of any reasonable deck, which is not reasonable to have to face, but it is fair. if you want to hit Tron in a similar fashion, a way that takes away a wincon that a huge percentage of decks cannot deal with, go ahead and ban Emmy. Iam quite happy to take an extra turn or 2 using Wurmcoil. I do not feel I am spouting nonsense, this is from the Bloom primer 'You will win most of your games with Primeval Titan'. It would weaken the deck, not cripple or kill, just weaken, and take away an interaction that Wizards would never have deliberately allowed. that is Bloom, I feel SephX has done just fine on Twin

You just care about your deck, right?

not at all, Tron is bad to fast aggro, if that becomes too common, I will switch decks, but what I don't like is infinite combo or 'oops i win' decks. I find a Prime Time on the second turn to be very funny, I don't mind losing to that, if you play a Titan that fast, you deserve to win. I don't think that playing Hive Mind so your opponent cannot play is good Magic, and Twin, I actually have a good record against that, if I am going to an LGS with lots, I just switch to Burn with massive sb Twin hate. I just think a deck that wins that quickly, that consistently, for as long as it has violates the guidelines Wizards has established. not the ones onpaper, the ones by the List. much fairer decks than Twin have eaten bans, and I think there should be a standard that applies to all decks

Unless if a card breaks the stated rules of the format, it shouldn't be banned. You can argue for Hive Mind doing that, but Deceiver Exarch does not.

And neither did Pod, it did not win before T3, and it only put up big numbers for a very short time, during which it had an excellent matchup against the other biggest deck and could be expected to do very well. That iswhat I mean by Banned list rules. from what I can tell, except for about 2 months of normal meta swings, Pod didn't do anything worse than what Twin has done for most of my time playing Modern. but Pod could play fair without a combo, that is theonly difference I see, and they killed that deck
