I don't think it would be difficult to splash the new Prowess creature, it's 4 cards, and no real sb change. I say cut a Mountain, a Grounds, move the Skullcrack to the side, I would have to look. Moving/cutting some 2drops could make it an even faster deck I think. I need to test obviously, but after the last decent looking Prowess creature, I am preordering 3 playsets of the foil. If it turns out that it is not a card for Burn, a card for Legacy delver is a decent bet to pick up foils
I put infinite combo, but really, it doesn't have to be infinite, it's any 'oops. I win' Prime Time in Bloom is fine, Hive Mind into a Pact is not. SotM a few tokens a turn is fine, infinite tokens of Exarch, not fine. Even Door to Nothingness is fine because if you fire Door, you had access to countless other win cons for the mana/ ability to cheat it online
with the mana clause on that green Oath, I am seriously thinking about a Tron land based superfriends deck. imagine how much common removal it invalidates, and all the angles of attack!
I don't play Standard, so I have no idea what makes a good green card there, but in Modern, outside of Goyf and Scooze, the green cards that tend to be played are C/U. Stompy is my go to deck right now for just having fun, and it has very few rares. I don't think a green mythic has ever seen serious Modern play (Titan and Worldspine are generally fringe, and only in strange combo decks), though I could have missed one or two
I would have enjoyed a Norse or Egyptian plane a few years ago, but after Theros, I really don't want to see God's again. They were so pathetic. I don't care if they see fringe play in Modern. For half of the mythic to be a mediocre enchantment creature... no thanks
anyone see new Nisa, (1)GG 3 loyality. =1 is put a 0/1 token, -2 is put a 1/1 token on all creatures you control. -7 gain x life, draw x cards. where is X is your lands you control
I just saw it, I like it!Idon't have a whole lot of experience, but I could see her replacing Scooze, or being SB in matches where Baloth isn't big enough and it helps more to pump the field and go wide. definitely testing if she doesn't end up too pricey
I could see it pushing Abzan to crush Affinity, big life gain will always challenge aggro. but in my mind, it sets up a meta where Tron could flourish, which opens the door for decks that prey on Tron. my question is, how would combo and control fare against this deck? I am guessing Abzan would keep the edge over combo, but would control rise if BGx became bigger?
Supply and demand. the player base and demand have expanded a lot, but each fall set since RTR is the most opened in history, replacing the last one. this means supply is just ridiculous. account for the fact that people are often less likely to shell out the big bucks with the new rotation, and the fact that most of the sets the last few years haven't had near the power of the old days, none of the cards have much appeal after rotation aside from mythics at best. it's just not worth it to crack packs (less than it was)
I play Burn, and I have to say, it IS a good deck, it is often a very good deck, but it is more meta reliant than almost anything else I can think of. right no, Twin and Bloom and Affinity are all running around, and in this aggro/fast combo-heavy meta, no, it is not the deck I bet on to win a major event. that said, if the meta ever slows down again and it stops being all combo/combo adjacent decks, then yeah,Burn would be a very real contender for a major win. II was racking up the wins. it's just these obscene combo decks that win before more fair decks can do anything. it really feels like 'play counters/discard,, or don't play at all' when I go even to the bigger shops around here, and since those decks have gotten so expensive, I play at small events and casually until we have a major shift
Hmm, but isn´t stoneforge mystic banned for basicly the same reason birthing pod is? When talking about banning birthing pod, a lot of people took mystic as argument why its overpowered. What has changed in that aspekt to expect he´s not overpowered anymore?
This is not allowed in the Prices thread. Discuss it in the banlist thread.
On the other hand, if he isn´t unbanned, won´t he drop in price because there is a fancy not too uncommon gp-promo?
This, however, is allowed. She would definitely go up in price based on sheer volume of play and speculation. The longterm ceiling might not be super high, but it would definitely rise above her current $25ish levels. The short-term ceiling would be absurd based on hype alone. Given that Griselbrand saw basically no change or a slight reduction, despite seeing almost no Modern play, minimal Legacy play, and a similar GP Promo print run, SFM's price would almost certainly go up.
Up, yes. Spike? Probably not unless speculators decide it's the next great scalping target thanks to low supply. WotC really needs to rework how they craft new cards in MTG because they seem overly obsessed with printing new, less useful things instead of taking old cards that are core across multiple formats and reworking them to fit the lore of the new set. I think we'd have much better prices and a lot less bulk paper shredder fodder if they did. Actually, now I'm wondering if they are going to reprint her in Oath as well. That way she'd be standard legal again for a time. Not insanely useful given our limited artifacts pool but still.
Spike? YES. Bitterblossom shot up to $60 when it was unbanned. Yes it was in a lower print run but the legacy play will offset the extra prints. plus Bitterblossom doesn't really see any tier 1 play(or tier 2 for that matter). Stone for will almost certainly fit into small coco/chord decks plus there will probably decks based around it pushing prices up higher. If youre interested in trying to make money on them by speculating and feel strongly that they'll be unbanned I would buy my copies and put them on tcg for $40. If they're unbanned they'll almost certainly go past that price mark and someone will have to buy your copies to push the price up,ensuring profit for you. Just my thoughts, still wouldn't bank on her as being unbanned for speculation purposes.
So you are suggesting screwing others by buying up copies then selling them at an inflated price, thus propagating the entire problem magic has at the moment? The only way problems like these get solved is by not doing the action that causes them. That and wizards needs to start focusing on getting modern staples as core cards that get printed regularly in each standard rotation, even if they have to rename them to get them to fit the lore of the set.
NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!! That would kill the format upon announcement, maybe the entire game. renaming them means you can run a playset of EACH. Tarmogoyf, Goblin Guide, Bob, Snappy,Ravager, do you really want to see a deck with 8 of them?we dearly need reprints obviously, but renaming staples for that purpose is doomsday for the format
Very nice idea for a thread. i would love to see Emrakul also bein 10 Mana. It would definately help though, if we know what Kind of Power Emrakul is wielding.
Ulamog devours things & exiling Cards Matches him perfectly. Kozilek distorts reality. counterspell-ability also fits. But what is Emrakul speciality ?
Emrakul, the approaching Apocalypse - 10 - 10/10
Flying
Emrakul, the approaching Apocalypse costs 1 less to cast for each colorless creature & for each land that can produce colorless mana you Control.
When you cast Emrakul, the approaching Apocalypse, gain Control of target Permanent an Opponent controls.
that's pretty busted. in Tron, that's a 10/10flier on turn 3, along with the best thing your opponent has, easily a bog Gofyf. the Tron player in me wants it, which is not always healthy in the format
I feel that at the lower costs, a bag of tricks is absolutely wonderful. but at that kind of cmc, casting it should be GG, for my humongous beatstick,I would rather see it be the absolute best at something. Like Newlamog, milling is not usually the best ability, but he is the BEST at it by a healthy margin. plus wrecking stuff in a big way. that said, I do see Kozilek as playable. the counter ability I see being trivial, but that cmc, even Tron usually has an empty hand, that drawing power could be a real beating
I think he's just talking about Stage/Depths and not Hexmage, though could be wrong.
And regarding your earlier point that the turn 3 kill (Depths, Urborg, Hexmage) requires 3 specific cards, that's true. But all 3 would be 4-ofs in the deck, making that scenario much more realistic than you might think. It most certainly wouldn't be every match or anywhere close, but it would be more often than "magic christmasland."
I don't care to take aside on this card, it means nothing to me. I just thought I might point out that Tron runs on the idea of assembling 3 cards, each a 4-of in the deck, and it is consistent. add in that 2 are lands, the concept is similar
