I want a new modern deck but i want it to be not a super popular deck but one that is still competitive. Ive got the blue white and green white fetches a long with a couple other ones but not a full playset of those. I have mardu pyro and love it but i want a different archetype. Maybe some sort of combo. Imwilling to play four color too. I cant spend a ton on cards right now. so im in the range of 500-700 usd to spend right now.
    No tron

    tron! just kidding

what combo deck do you like?
look at https://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/modern/full#paper for what is within your budget, from the top of my mind:

    storm/amulet titan: grindy combo
    Titan shift: ramp/combo
    ad nauseam: a+b combo

other non midrange deck you could try:
G/R Land Destruction: blood moon+stone rain for their basics!
Eldrazi and Taxes: to be honest this is somewhat like mardu, midrange +disruption, but play different
Four-Color Saheeli: midrange...with combo to keep them honest

the key in here is "sacrifice", unlike destroy where you can chose what you want, in sacrifice is something you own.

    https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Sacrifice

"701.16a To sacrifice a permanent, its controller moves it from the battlefield directly to its owner’s graveyard. A player can’t sacrifice something that isn’t a permanent, or something that’s a permanent they don’t control. Sacrificing a permanent doesn’t destroy it, so regeneration or other effects that replace destruction can’t affect this action.

    Titanshift could be for you:
"play the primeval titan or scapeshift and won" https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-scapeshift-46457#paper

also if you hate combat (and your opponent) you could play pure combo:
    storm https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-u-r-gifts-storm-46456#paper
boogeyman of the format right now https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-ironworks-combo-48576#paper

What do you guys think about Jace, the Living Guildpact? He can be the third Jace in the deck.
Can help setting up Miracle and also can bounce problematic permanents. He can also take bouncing creature duty while Jace TMS brainstorms you into victory. Smile

awful, teferi do almost the same, at 2 less mana;)

    https://www.mtggoldfish.com/decks/budget/modern#paper

    Hello, guys
English is not my first language, so if my written is too bad, sorry :c

Well, i'm a commander player trying to enter at modern. I never had the opportunity because the field at my city is "serious bussiness" and I can't buy the tier 1-2 decks, but i met some new players, with budgets decks and it seems like a chance to start.
I have some "mono W humans" set of cards like soldier of the pantheon, imposign sovereing and brave the elements, and some singles like thalia and path to exile. I have some mass removal, mana leaks and bad cantrips (ex: antecipate) But i dont want anything just cast creature and go to combat, i would prefer something with creatures doing some lock (like D&T) or an hard control.
My budget is low (university student without a job kinda low) in short time, but i have time to improve, so something that can be improve to tier, would be nice.
Some sugestion? If i need to give more information?

    2 questions:
1-since you play commander, do you have x1 of something expensive?
2- your budget: exactly how much that would be (5$ weekly? 30 month? etc)

First of all, I'm currently playing with Affinity, however, I did not liked the style of the deck. I did like the several angles possibles to win, and do not like the terrible top decking and lack of gas in longer matches.

    Cards you already own
    -Complete affinity
    -A playset of new karn
    -Some shocks and fetchs

    Colors you like to play
I'm not proud of myself telling that I learned that I really like playing blue/black,

    Style you like to play
I got into modern a year ago, tried Burn and Affinity, and saw that I dislike playing aggro. I like to be in control or to cast big things, other than be fast or have a large amount of creatures.

Level you want to play at, or aim to build up to (causal, fmn, ptq)
Competitive leagues in MTGO. I do not have time to go to the LGS nearby.

    Extra information
Budget wise, I'll trade my Affinity (near 350tix) and throw a plus if needed.

UW control is like aprox 350 ticket, and the best control deck (right now).

60 is pretty low, but you can check out this:

    https://www.mtggoldfish.com/decks/budget/modern#paper

look at storm, swan hunt and eminent domain, i believe you could "update" eminent domain into Blue Moon (Ur control with blood moon) and possibility storm into regular storm.

Looking for a mono white modern deck to play. Something that’s not hatebear preferably. Should I go with a soul sisters variant? White humans? Emeria? What else is there? Thanks in advance!

martyr proc is a mono white control deck, the best "non hatebear" white deck IMHO

That seems interesting. Would this be better than a soul sisters build with Pridemates and Thune?

yes, soul sister is a budget aggro version of martyc proc. Martyr proc is a good deck, SS is a FNM/burn meta deck.

I'm looking at Valakut right now to deal with my local meta, which leans heavily towards midrange and control (like over 50%). I'm basically looking for a solid deck against them that doesn't involve spending $250 on a playset of individual cards like Karn in Tron decks, as I just can't justify that sort of purchase within my budget. Are there better options in that $500-ish budget for a modern deck that would work in that scenario?

    BOOGLES

    https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-g-w-hexproof-46449#paper
boggles is exactly what you are looking for, for a "budget" version leave horizon canopy/leyline out, but the core is cheap and will crush that meta.

Wouldn't this be another flavor of Skred Red (since both are tap-out control decks) but with a grindier playstyle and more susceptible to hate?
I've already look at UW titan but what made me gave up on the deck is the fact that you are a tap-out control strategy with counters. This often led me to awkward moments where I'd be im a better position had I invested om the board instead of leaving mana open. I'm not saying the deck doesn't works, it's just not my style.

dont worry i understand, you are looking for "draw go".

the last suggestion i would make is mono blue tron, play somewhat like a draw go deck with a combo/control finish
    https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-mono-blue-tron-46461#paper

other than that, i dont think you have more choice, you really need cryptic+snapcaster to play "traditional" Ux draw go

I'm not worried about having the absolute best tier 1 deck, what I don't want is to build a deck with suboptimal budget cards, that was the one thing I learned by playing with my UR delver deck.
Faeries seems like a strong strategy but without the bitterblossoms the deck falls short, and they usually tend to play 1-2 cryptics or snapcasters, I'm going to look around tough to see if I can brew a faeries deck without cryptics and snapcaster.
What I'm truly looking for here is to get some control deck in the same style of UW Control (not necessarily UW Control itself) or some cheaper control deck that allows me to have a little bit of counter magic because with Skred Red I never feel that I'm in control in certain matchups due to the lack of counter spells. And this lack of confidence may be true for me for other non-blue control decks, but perhaps I need to adapt to the idea of a counterless strategy, since most counter decks are very expensive (UW Control, Jeskai Control, Grixis Control, Blue Moon) due to the snapcaster mage + cryptic command shell.
Is there a way to build blue control on a smaller budget? Or should I just stick with non-blue control strategies?

look for UW sun titan control, its a more tapped out control version (closer to martyr proc), but you can put some counters and adjust the deck according to your meta

I was looking at Ad Nauseam, but my concern is that it would just be a worse storm deck. I haven't looked at any Death's Shadow decks yet but I'll take a look. Thanks

I have played Ad Nauseam, but not storm and i could say the following:

Ad Nauseam dont fold to creature removal (the most common thing in modern), so game 1 is for you 95% of the times, and is better at comboing instant speed.
For example, the best match up for AN is burn, while burn is storm worst match up. When i played UW control i have favourable MU against storm, while ad nauseam is unfavourable.
