I was in a bit of a rush this morning. I will post up my plan and final list i took to FNM. I hope for 5 rounds there.
The biggest decks I am worried about are RWU and Pod.
Deck has speed and for fast aggro needs to be able to interact with creatures. Also blood moon is a multideck hoser. I do not want the SB to be more burn I want to it to stop archetypes or to slow them down so I can fire for the win.
As for Blood Moon and my mana... it is a turn three play... So 4 of the 10 none red cards go out level 6 none red cards... if I get DRS and keep him then I can mana fix by getting the color I need by removing fetch lands or lands I kill with shard volley. By my reckoning blood moon will slow the game down some what but the cards are in my fav against most archetypes...
Sorry for the card shortage in deck. I add the Spark E as it is in sense another lightning bolt. Though I think the ooze factor will be big and JUND will be in play. Here is the list.
19 Lands
4 Arid Mesa
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Blackcleave Cliffs
2 Blood Crypt
2 Mountain
2 Sacred Foundry
1 Stomping Ground
I keep moving from BR and BRW. I think BR can be streamlined to be faster but BRW has protection from enchantments and can get some lifegain to hang in there. I do not share the view of others and I really do not have the results to back me up but I feel that Vexing Devil > Gobline gude and Lightning Helix > Boros Charm in burn decks. Four things bother me about this deck... I am running Blood Moon for the win on T3 against tough matches so Rakdos Charm is not mainboard which I like having one. Lavamancer dropped because of its slow speed and replaced with Spark Elemental as it is a board moving bolt. Dropped Volcanic Fallout for Hide//Seek so no board clearing. No Ensnaring Bridge as I dropped it as I never have gotten it out but I finish the game often with no cards in hand.
I boarded a miracle for surprise and damage advantage as I like it. I am always up and down with Shard Volley but I have won with it.
In analysing the deck as it stands and going up against the archtype decks I think some changes can be made. I can also gauge how a RWB burn deck fills out the mainboard more. Regardless of this, I will stick with RB and make the following changes.
I am a big RDW fan and like running creature heavy decks and I think goblin guide belongs there. I am huge fan of Vexing devil and think that its playability is not appreciated by the main posters of this thread. It won me games in play from starting in hand and in mid game. DRS is an awesome creature but he needs lavamancer for back up
I wanted more against affinity as the deck I played was very fast. The extra damage from StS is good for adding gas. Torpor Orb is good but I think with players playing for life gain will be ready so a couple of rain of gore to back it up.
I dropped VF to 3 and added the pyroclasm to main. VF is good but there was SO many 3 drops with molten rain so Pyroclasm helps with that issue as well.
Finally Ensnaring Bridge to help so I can draw into the win! I know there are other options I could run but I have a feeling this will suit most metas. I think my weekness will be to leyline of sanctity. Though I could bring in Call of Nature. I plan on trialing it in two weeks at Modern FNM. Please feel free to comment.
OK so last Friday night I ran BR burn to see how it would go. There was not enough players for 5 rounds so we went for 4. In the end I went 2-2-0 and placed in the top half of the field.
I had to make changes to my originally posted deck due to not being able to find some cards.
R1 - UR Splinter Twin 2-0 with boomerang. Not much to report as the deck worked SO fast in game two I saw nothing but land from him. I did not sideboard.
R2 - Combo Elves 2-0 creates million elf deck. First game was drawn out as we were looking for the cards we needed. I beat him to the race. Game two he mulligan to 5 and I ran over the top. Though it was close as my goblin guide kept giving him land. I did not sideboard.
R3 - R Affinity cranial plating with some burn. First game I ran out of gas and could not kill him or attacking creatures. I sideboard down this time casting out goblin guides and boarding 2 volcanic fallouts and 1 rakdos charm. I win second game after he mulligans and I volcanic fallout his creatures. I sideboard more hit creature spells in from sideboard -3 lava spike +1 searing blaze +2 volcanic fallout. I got him to 1 but raid out of steam again. Close game but I lost.
R4 - Melira Pod. First game to me but again goblin guide brought the opponent back into the game. I sideboard guides out and torpor orbs in. I also -2 searing blaze and +1 rakdos charm +1 volcanic fallout. He sides qasali pridemage. Game two I silenced his kitchen finks but he kills it with the mage. I get him to 4 and his pod combo kicks in and I scoop when he gets back up to 12 and I am out of gas. I side out lave spikes and add the searing blazes in so I can affect his creatures more. Game 3 was close as I started with two skull cracks and draw another. His upkeep I cast skullcrack in his upkeep 3 rounds in a row, in the end I run out and he casts in his kitchen finks. He had a voice out but I made a play mistake and resulted in 2 elementals coming out. I am out of gas and scoop.
I think the main match up will be WU, WUR, pod, scapeshift and zoo/aggro. My research has shown that control decks win Australian events and there is a fair amount of aggro. I think pod will be the most played deck. Just need to work out a sideboard plan for these archtypes. Any feedback or advise welcomed.
EDIT: Also, I forgot to ask for opinions on a couple of sign in blood main deck. It helps with draw when needed and is more damage as well. I would remove shard volley. I know it is a lightning bolt but I place it on the lower end of of the bolts IMO.
I agree. The new Theros card is an improved Slagstorm... same decisions as to whether it sees play aligns with what has been said about Slagstorm. Can not be countered of volcanic fallout is king atm.
Two questions:
1. Why has pillar of flames/magma spray been past up? I realise it is not a bolt but with the combo decks out there and the amount of finks seen a couple would be a no brainer. Magma>flame as Magma is instant.
2. Are the quest cards worth it? I realise they seems slow... good in control match ups?
3. Okay there is a third question, Is it worth while running so pain enchantment on opponent lands? There are a few one drop R or B that could be played. I am also considering land enchantments for creatures... seems like a better return than shards in most match ups.
My meta is not really control but W/B and Esper but people tread very lightly around it. I know what the results show and I know that the core decks in the statistics can win against other decks. I just wonder with the data if it is biased to control currently?

I realise the deck virtually looses to white lifegain and in this format vulnerable to enchantments. Though with the right draw there is a chance.
I also might be short the 4 scalding tarns I intend to try another mountain, city of brass and reflection pool to make up shortfall.

Sort by the column headings? My collection is by the set numbers. That would be sweet
Now I just need to know if there is a place where I can download all the card pictures in one go? Or do I have to extract them all from the gathering?
