Is there a reason we're playing Mishra's Bauble instead of Conjurer's Bauble? The peek on top is nice, but the ability to put a creature back in the deck for Traverse seems interesting at least.

Like most people have said, I'd definitely suggest pauper. Some decks are expensive, but you can do some super fun stuff for like five tix. I'd also consider looking into commander, a lot of staple cards are fairly cheap online and so you can build a decent one or two color deck for just like five or ten tix. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure you can make a green ramp deck for fairly cheap. Normally pretty simple, decently strong, and allows newer players to cast some sweet fatties. I have an Omnath deck that I personally like to lend to newer players.

As others have said, what it really comes down to is whether or not the playgroup minds. I dare say that his logic isn't bad, bans are mostly intended for tournaments. However, commander is interesting because few commander players actually attend many commander tournaments. Because of that, the commander ban list is also intended to make a experience that people find enjoyable, which might break down his argument a little bit.

  • posted a message on Democratic Socialism vs Capitalism
I agree that the best system is a mix of the two. However, I think that socialism has a bad stigma because some relate it to communism. Were I forced to pick one, I'd say Democratic socialism just because of how out of control pure capitalism can get. It often hurts the middle and lower classes the worst.

I imagine that there's probably at least a few drum corps alum on here. As of yesterday I've been accepted as part of the brand new Battalion corps. Any suggestions on ways to make money or places people might donate? (Obviously getting a job, but I want to see if there's other suggestions)

The most upsetting part of the US refusing refugees is that it's primarily one party that's doing it. We pretend to have a sophisticated government system, we pretend to care about people's lives, but when it comes down to it our politians are more worried about offending their supporters than they are about finding ways to save lives. We could certainly afford to let thousands of refugees in. Not all of them, but a lot. Instead of figuring out how, we sit there and make sure that we stay popular with our friends. As to the very idea that refugees are a danger, just remember how many school shootings we've had in recent years. People already here are seemingly a threat, we're not putting ourselves in danger by saving lives.

I'll quickly add my two cents on which console to buy. Xbox one doesn't have as much local multiplayer as you'd want for kids probably. I personally like the wii U, but you might be able to get away with just buying a used xbox 360 and a bunch of games, it's all pretty cheap by now.

My first edh (and first deck ever) was a Rith deck. To this day, I prefer playing something with a lot of draw or library manipulation, like my Darreti

It's not necessarily even just being rude, but negatively impacting someone's life. I'm against violence because, it's always going to negatively impact someone, no matter what side of the exchange is 'your side' and so I'm very antiwar. It's important to me that if you're going to make a lasting impact, don't hurt people. So I dare say the rudeness, if its severe enough, is the emotional equivalent of violence. Thusly, pacifist, don't be rude.

To me, just trying to be decent to people is important. People obviously disagree on what that means, but I think it's actively avoiding unnecessary rudeness, don't be afraid to correct someone, but only if its actually productive. I'm also pretty firmly a pacifist, any physical violence, and particularly any killing, is wrong. I can also support the do what you want so long as it doesn't hurt others. However, I think people have a right to somewhat help their society run. Don't do something upsetting just because you can, make sure you have a valid reason.
